This was my first experience with an acupuncturist so I don't have anything compare it to, but i was overwhelmingly pleased with Rachal's professionalism and service. During my initial consultation, I was running late because the location wasn't as obvious as I assumed. Rachal was still able to give me a thorough evaluation in the time allotted. (Heads up, they are located BEHIND South Riding Family Doctor, next to Diva Fit) The needles are so small that the pain was nonexistent. I started to go Firefly to find some relief for the stress in my life. I heard herbs and acupuncture helps. I saw Rachal and started a regular schedule of 45 minute acupuncture sessions with her on a weekly basis. Over the course of a few weeks my sleep and stress levels improved greatly. I actually didn't believe it at first until I missed my appointments two weeks back to back. It does make a difference. She also gave me several herbs and supplements. One particular one is used to enhance your immune system when you feel like something is starting to brew in your body like a cold or the flu. Loved it. If I can only tell you what the names are. Great acupuncturist. I used to have horrible seasonal allergies for as long as I can remember. As in I fretted to go outside and couldn't breathe through my nose for half the year. In 2007 I hear acupuncture could treat my allergies. Well I headed to an acupuncturist in Vienna that spring and went for several sessions. The results weren't immediate but soon enough my allergies went away. I was supposed to come back every so often for a 'booster' session. But what did I care my allergies were gone. I noticed my allergies started coming back in 2009 but I didn't really care. Now in 2010 my allergies are strong enough to bother me (albeit not as bad as they used to be). I researched tons of acupunturist in the area. Checked their board certificates, background, training, and presence in the acupuncture community. Rachal definitely fit the bill. I finished another a set of sessions with rachal just in time. My allergies are gone once again. I will be sure to go to my booster appointments every few months. Amazing! I'd been experiencing sciatica that was getting progressively worse for several years. My doctor prescribed painkillers and recommended exercises, but neither seemed to be very helpful. I can't say enough about Rachal. I have had issues with my knees and one foot from running. I am a massage therapist and many of my clients had asked about acupuncture and what it was like. I had never been to an acupuncturist before, so I couldn't tell them either way. I was having terrible rib and back pain which landed me at Fair Oaks Emergency Room. After having numerous x-rays, cat scans, blood tests and MRI's, my pain issue was still undiagnosed. Out of desperation I contacted Sourth Riding Acupuncture (Rachal Dean). This was my first time seeing an acupuncturist. I had about 10 treatments and after the first couple I noticed an improvement. After two months I was healed. I can't say for sure what helped, but something worked and I would definitely go back for another health issue. I did have trouble contacting Rachal over the phone at first and I found out that emailing her is the best way. For some reason they don't seem to answer phone calls. Having said that, the place is very comfortable and relaxing. Rachal listened to all my complaints and she addressed all the issues I needed to work on. Had an appointment for 0940 and arrived at 0930 to find the office locked, dark, and with no one there. I called their number multiple times with no answer or response to my voicemail. I sent them an email from their website, which confirmed they should be open by now, and have not received a response to that either. There is a CLOSED sign hanging in the window that says they will return at 0900. It is now 1000 and there is no change. Their website says if you do not show up to your appointment you will be charged for the full amount; I guess we'll see if they hold themselves to the same standard and not charge me for my appointment...assuming I ever get them to honor one. I have been seeing Rachal for years for overall health and wellness. Recently this bump on the bottom of the arch of my foot started bothering me. It was growing larger and more tender. My MD said it was a ganglion cyst and gave me a referral to a podiatrist. I knew the podiatrist would want to cut it out. Rachal Lohr-Dean is an amazing acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner! I have had food sensitivities and intestinal problems ever since I came down with a severe case of mononucleosis when I was sixteen (I am now 32 yrs old). In addition, I was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease and due to this condition I was having constant joint and back pain. When I went to Rachal for the first time, my low back was inflamed to the point that I couldn't walk. After my first two acupuncture sessions, my back inflammation totally subsided. Rachal proceeded to prescribe me a customized formula of Chinese herbs. These herbs have been a miracle!!! The herbs have healed my digestive system and cured me of my chronic constipation. Rachal literally saved my life. I was struggling with severe depression, grief, and PTSD after my toddler was diagnosed (and luckily cured of) cancer, and I was struggling to put the pieces of my life back together.
