I've been coming to Yedam Well Being Center for sinusitis treatment for the past few weeks. This is my first time trying acupuncture, and while as someone with a lower pain tolerance I wouldn't say it's pain-free for me, it is fairly comfortable and produces clear results. I haven't experienced miraculous healing but rather steady progress in the right direction. Treatment is customizable to you, both between traditional medicine and acupuncture, and within the treatment itself. Adjustments are made along the way to ensure you're receiving the best care. Hoyoon Chong is a patient and caring practitioner who clearly gets joy out of what he's doing. He's good at both listening to patients and explaining treatment methods, and his overall bedside manner is very cheerful. I've never felt rushed during the sessions. I've also enjoyed learning more from him about traditional Eastern medicine and how it differs from or is similar to Western medicine. He does a good job of explaining how both can work together and benefit from each other. The office staff here is excellent as well. My insurance can be tricky to process, but it was processed quickly here with no issues or delays. I also appreciate how friendly and kind the staff are every time I arrive. This was my first time trying acupuncture and I had a really great experience here. Dr Chong goes into great detail about the different styles of acupuncture and the differences from Western medicine. He also makes some excellent (and funny) analogies. I was surprised by how immediate the relief was after my first visit. The most surprising part was that there were areas of my body that felt better that I didn't even know were being impacted-- after my first treatment on my legs I was SHOCKED how light my feet felt. Dr. Chong is a caring and effective acupuncturist! He truly cares about each of his patients. He takes time to listen to my concerns and educate me on the treatment plan. For instance, he explained to me how acupuncture works, what to expect, and how to follow up after each session. I had a myriad of things I presented with, and he ensured to address them all. I've been going for about twice a week over the last month and I am feeling much better, my sciatic pain has diminished, and I do not rely on sleep medicine anymore. I'm afraid of needles. So seeking out an acupuncturist wasn't an easy choice for me since one bad experience could have turned me away for good. I ended up choosing Yedam for my acupuncture. The receptionists (both of them) at the front desk are amazing and helpful. The place is very clean and has a good vibe to it. He diagnosed "Weal kidney" and "Weak Liver" initially and according to him these 2 organs were getting stronger/balance while Ii was seeing him 2 times a week. However, he changed his initial diagnosis to Stress hormones problem. I didn't get any benefits from his treatment/sessions whatsoever. I want to thank Dr. Chong and his staff for the wonderful treatment I get whenever I come for my sessions. I have had 10 visits to the clinic and I've never had a negative experience. I started going there for pain on my lower right side of my back, aswell as pain on my left ankle, elbow, wrist and shoulder. Dr. Chong is the best acupuncturist in NoVa hands down. I have been to many Korean and Chinese acupuncturists in my lifetime including the ones in Annandale. Never felt better! I suffer from fibromyalgia, shoulder/neck pain and chronic migraines. After years of physical therapy, massage, marijuana, over the counter drugs and visits to the chiropractor, Yedam is the only thing that has helped. I am so full of gratitude for Dr. Chong. I went to him over a year ago to ask for help with difficulty sleeping and fertility. I didn't want to go to a fertility clinic and he encouraged me to do acupuncture and also try the custom-made Korean herbal medicine. It was pricy but he told such great stories about women getting pregnant within just a few months on it. I tried a 5 week batch with regular treatments and we got pregnant that cycle! I continued to see Dr. Chong until 10 weeks. After a healthy uneventful pregnancy, I went to see him for induction acupuncture which helped me to dilate to 3cm without drugs. This is my first time writing a review, and it was worth the wait. I have fibromyalgia, suffered from anxiety, insomnia, allergies, etc. Regardless of my concern - Dr. Chong always helps. He also healed my Mom's knee pain that she's had for years. Helped me with my insomnia. Sleeping much better now. I was waking up after 3 hours for no reason pretty often enough to make me desperate enough to go seek help, but acupuncture and herbal medicine here helped fix me back. I found this place on Yelp! go figure, lol. I was researching to find a good place to get acupuncture because I was in a lot of pain and the place I normally went to suddenly changed. So I called Yedam on a Saturday and they were able to see me in a couple of hours. The receptionist was very kind and helpful, and when I arrived I immediately felt a vibe of serenity (you could smell all the healing herbs). But the best part about my visit was Dr. Chong. I had 3 epidural injections that did not work (waste of money), they recommended open back surgery ( of course not). I suffered from chronic hives that began mid March. I was put on two rounds of steroids and was taking a mixture of five anti histamines and nothing was working. I was miserable and felt sick from the lack of sleep and the discomfort from the itching and stinging all over my body which the hives were causing. By around end of May I discovered Dr. Chong and he began to treat me with acupuncture three times a week and herbs. I was always a little skeptical about getting acupuncture but my mother, who is a second generation korean, has done it many times before and said it works very well with relieving pain and inflammation. I sprained my ankle from a skateboarding injury so I decided to give yedam well being center a try. I called in and scheduled an appointment. As I made my way into the office, my ankle had already been sprained for about 2 days. Keep in mind the range of motion in my foot was about 40% there and very painful to walk on. After a 5 minute wait in their waiting room, I was called in. Doctor Hoyoon Chong examined my ankle and asked me a few questions and then I laid down on their medical bed. He began the acupuncture which to my surprise, was not as painful as I expected. Sure, it felt like a slight prick but nothing that was too overwhelming. I laid down with the needles in me for about 25 minutes. Within that time I fell asleep, the acupuncture seemed to have put me at a very relaxed state. When the doctor came back in he carefully took each needle out and asked me to stand up. I was still skeptical at this point because I was not sure if it would hurt to stand on my ankle. But yet again to my surprise, the pain on my ankle was about 75% gone. Range of motion in my foot was 75% there! I was amazed. This was definitely a pleasant experience for me. Well, I left feeling very happy and walked normally to my car. Although there was still some pain left, it was bearable to walk on. I highly suggest trying this place out if you are interested in alternative ways of healing injuries. This doctor is amazing at acupuncture and quickened the healing process of my sprained ankle. I have been treated by both doctors Puramo Chong and Hoyoon Chong. I have a protruted disk and painful sciatica issues. There was a point I was bent forward and could not stand straight. I am 69 years old and was diagnosed several years ago with sleep apnea. Recently, my sleep problems worsened. I was waking up three or four times a night, rising exhausted and headachy, and requiring several fitful naps in the afternoon. A sleep study indicated that I also had something related to restless leg syndrome, a continue that causes repeated leg kicks throughout the night.
