There were baskets out, but we decided to pick our own strawberries. We are back in Cary and couldn't wait to come back. It's only a 30 mile drive. I love seeing the country. The tomatoes, zucchini and squash were well worth the trip. They also sell beef and lamb. We will be back again before we continue with our travels. This is a family owned "pick your own" farm right outside of Burlington where you can pick your…read moreown peaches right off the trees along with blueberries and blackberries during the growing season. Follow them on Facebook to keep up with what's available and hours of operation. Once you arrive, you can get an empty basket or bucket from under the shelter and head off to pick your peaches or berries and return to the shelter with your harvest where they will weigh it and ring up your purchases. Today was opening day for the 2017 season, the peach trees and blueberry bushes were loaded. The peach I ate when I got home was awesome. Also be sure to check out Jasper at "Jasper's Fresh Squeezed Lemonade" here at Buttermilk Creek, Jasper sets up his lemonade stand here and offers some cold beverages which was a refreshing treat after pickin' peaches in the summer heat. This place is out in the middle of nowhere, hard to find online and when you do find it all the information is outdated. Your best bet is to call one of the numbers and hope you get someone That knows a little bit and can tell you how to find it on the map or something. It is not accessible, and the only place to relieve yourself is a porta potty that doesn't always have toilet paper. But we love this place and we come every couple of weeks and the summer to get the most delicious tomatoes we found anywhere.

Hands down the best grass-fed beef I've ever eaten. I've been a customer of Double R for over 6…read moreyears now and will never go back to conventionally raised beef. All cuts are individually portioned and vacuum sealed/flash frozen. You can purchase individual cuts, or buy in bulk for a big discount (their "quarter" beef is 80 lbs of meat - 40 lbs. of ground and 40 lbs of cuts). In addition to excellent beef, they grow no spray/low spray strawberries every Spring for U-pick or pre-pick, raise bees on site for honey, and often have some type of vegetables growing and available during Spring, Summer and Fall (right now they have tons of greens and turnips!) They mostly just sell on farm, and if you contact by phone or email it's super easy to work out a time to come by (usually most days but Sunday).
