Dr. Smith was my orthodontist and he did a spectacular job on my smile. I am so pleased with his work and would recommend him to anyone!

Veterans... do not use this facility if you can help it…read more. This review is not about the front desk or support staff. They were polite and professional. My issue is with the clinical care, the breakdown in follow-through, and the unacceptable delays I experienced at Southeastern Dental. I am a 100% disabled VA-covered veteran with significant restorative dental needs, and this office turned what should have been routine care into a drawn-out, confidence-destroying mess. A single permanent crown started around August 2025 and was not completed until early February 2026. I was left dealing with a temporary crown for six to seven months, including multiple return visits just to have it re-cemented. That is not reasonable. That is poor management of a patient's care. What makes this worse is that after all that time, I still had reason to question the quality of the work. When the crown was finally placed, there was no post-placement X-ray to confirm fit and margins, despite imaging being used during earlier attempts. During that same visit, I pointed out a sharp defect on the adjacent tooth and was told there was no decay. The problem is still there, and it still feels like an untreated cavity. Even more concerning, I had previously been told that multiple teeth needed treatment and that the findings were being submitted to the VA for approval. When I followed up, there was apparently no record of that plan, forcing me to start the process over with more exams and more delays. That is a serious failure in continuity of care, especially for a patient already dealing with worsening dental problems. Because of Southeastern Dental's delays and lack of follow-through, I have spent nearly a year chewing mostly on one side of my mouth, affecting my quality of life and potentially causing further damage. Based on my experience, I would not trust this office with complex dental work, and I would absolutely not recommend it to other veterans, friends, or family. Maybe some patients have a smooth experience here. I did not. Mine involved months of delay, unresolved concerns, poor continuity, and a complete loss of confidence in the care provided. I will be pursuing other options and escalating these concerns through VA Patient Advocacy. Leadership at this office should take a serious look at how cases are being handled, because what I experienced was unacceptable. Absolutely terrible.

Whoever is at the front desk needs to work on customer service…read more I've had a consult previously and was reaching back out to move forward with care and the girl at the front did not seem thrilled about answering questions! Not a good look if you want people to give you money for a service. At least pretend to care.

If I could leave a zero star review, I would. Both my son and my daughter had braces from Nelson,…read morethey over cemented them onto their teeth. We found this out after we moved to a different state. Both of my kids almost lost a few teeth and for sure the orthodontic team they go to now were very upset at the poor treatment they received from Nelson. My first visit to Nelson was also very disappointing as my daughter (who was 12 at the time) wanted me to come back with her but they wouldn't allow me to come with her (there was a private unused room for situations like I am describing), they did however let her facetime me from her chair but she got kicked off a little bit before she was done, that is where it gets a little scary, the receptionist told me that they would call me when they were done so that I could come up and get her (I was not allowed to stay in the waiting room, where I was sitting quietly). They did not call me, my daughter was brought down a back staircase that I did not know about but thank God I was walking outside on the sidewalk when she came out with a lady I didn't even recognize. We talked and I let her know that this is not what I expected to happen. She apologized but no arrangements were made to reassure me that this wouldn't happen again. The next 6 months my husband went to the appointments and there were no issues. I hope this helps at least one person. If we can't set reasonable boundaries and those boundaries be kept then how can we build trust? A degree does not automatically mean that we can just hand our kids over and expect everything to be okay.

Dr Sharma was very nasty and possessed no professionalism towards me when I sat in her chair. The…read moreday of my visit it was early approximately 8:30 a.m. I was waiting on her with the hygienist. When she walked in the room I greeted her promptly. Eventually, I curiously asked her, why she didn't see a certain decay 2 wks earlier, when she took my initial x-ray. She immediately snapped at me and said I don't know, but that's what happens when you visit 2 dental different practices at the same time. I was shocked at the tone, and the fact that she brought up details of me visiting a different dental practice intermittently, since my situation had nothing to do with the question at-hand. (One takes Medicaid and the other does not.) Therefore, I have to workout what places me in a btr financial position. Then, I said to her, "You're not a morning person, are you," due to the fact she was slamming things around on the table, in her preparation. She stated, yes I'm fine. Then she proceeded with, "Would you care to cancel this appt & make another appt w/a different dentist. I turned and looked up at her from my chair, I said Dr Sharma, if I offended you in any way, I apologize, that was not my intention. She said, No it's okay! She was scheduled to do work on my mouth that day. She took another set of x-rays. Then ended my visit Next, she swiftly walked behind me as I approached the "front desk personnel" thru the long, narrow hallway. When I had reached the front desk the ofc mngr,She said yes, Im fine. So after she gave me my new treatment plan, and followed behind me, back up the long hallway to the front desk empl's so that I could make my next appt, meanwhile the offc mngr, Zorilyn Cain, came out to the front desk and asked me to follow her to her ofc. She also suggested that I see a different dentist. And I said why what is wrong with me continuing to see Dr Sharma? She replied that Dr Sharma no longer wanted me for a patient. And I tried to explain that I thought she may have gotten offended, But I apologized to her so I don't know why she even escalated the situation to Zorilyn Cain, esp since she told me she was okay Zorilyn Cain, kept throwing out false narrativees as to why Dr Sharma did not want to be my dentist anymore. I felt like a 3rd grader in the principles office trying to defend myself for something so trivial that I did not do to Dr Sharma. I told Zorilyn Cain that I was 63 years old and have never been called in any professional doctor's office by the office mngr and been told that the doctor did not want me as a pt. And to add insult to injury I was never told why. I mean who does this, I came in to seeek professional dental care and I did what anyone would do if they offended some one else, and promptly apologize. I felt like Dr. Sharma was professional enough to talk to me to try to resolve her issue with me, before escalating it behind my back, that we could have extinguished it and came to some type of resolution. She should have been able to move forward seemlessly, since she said she was okay. Which in hindsight I still do not even realize what I said that was so offensive to her. I asked a mere question abt my dental visit. However, I had made a hefty down payment for some upcoming root canals and fillings. I requested to Zorilyn Cain that I wanted a full refund on the deposit I left for those upcoming services. I did receive my refund, But I will never schedule another appt with them EVER. I seek professionalism, NOT immaturity in ANY of my dealings, be it personal or professional.

After being under their care for several years, I've noticed a big change in the past year…read more Recently, I was seen for my 6 month routine cleaning and was told everything looked great. Then about a week later, I started to have problems, very bad pain in a tooth with a crown. To make a long story short, my pain got worse and when I tried to bring it to their attention they didn't listen, couldn't find time for me. They suggested I call every day to see if they had any cancellations. I had to go to another dentist to get care. My new dentist found the problem with a 3D xray at the first visit. Village Family Dental missed an infection, abscess, cyst which resulted in me having to have an extraction and bone graft procedure so far; more to come. How they missed all of this is beyond me! They regularly took x-rays, cleaned my teeth and still they missed it. Will not go back there. Did not feel like a valued patient at all.
