We walked into firelake, quite frankly, with little to no expectations. We were looking for sustenance after a long day of hiking to pulpit rock. Weary but happy, we dragged our exhausted selves to the lobby restaurant of the radisson blu Atlantic, where we were staying. We were seated immediately by the friendly maitre d. Our waiter for the evening, Martin could not have been nicer. He took our orders of a burger, mussels and chicken tenders for our daughter. They all tasted great! My favorite, however, was the complimentary bread basket, with the most delicious, soft bread with sun-dried tomatoes, a side of soft butter in olive oil and a sprinkling of sea salt and chili flakes. He also gave us a complimentary amuse bouche - salmon on a cucumber with crema and roe. Again, delicious and refreshing. The mussels came in a green curry sauce with a julienned veggies and Thai red chilis. The fries on the side were crisped to perfection as was the spicy mayo it came with. They have an extensive wine selection. As a New Yorker, I value a good wine bar scene with ambience but the prices here/ Norway are no joke. I went for a French red which was the cheapest at 200nok/ 20usd. To top it all off, Martin went the extra mile to give my daughter a vanilla ice cream, made in house. The service cannot be faulted. All to say, I can't recommend firelake enough! read more

I ate here a couple of times while staying at the attached hotel via room service. They don't offer everything on menu via room service, but still a selection of the menu highlights. I ordered the cheeseburger both times (I was missing good ol Americana from back home) because it was perfectly executed: cooked to perfection, delicious condiments, and fresh ingredients. It was definitely one of the better burgers I have had in recent memory. Recommend if you are a meat-eater and looking for a place that knows how to prepare, season, and cook red meat to perfection! read more
Came here with some work colleagues on a Thursday night and had a great time. The restaurant has a very trendy atmosphere, excellent service and an incredible menu. The bread they bring out at the beginning is phenomenal with a bit of black truffle butter and a sprinkling of seeds in the bottom of a slate basket that you can press into the buttered bread. One of my colleagues ordered the steak and it looked really good - he enjoyed it. However, my other colleague and I decided to be adventurous and try the Hedonism Burger. It lived up to its name! Start with 1/3 pound of pure Wagyu beef, add a layer of foie gras, sprinkle with some deep fried shallots, cover that in truffle aioli and then put it on a bun. But wait, don't put it on just any bun; put it on a pumpernickel bun that is sprinked with flakes of real gold. Now serve that with a side of fries that are covered with more black truffle shaving and cheese and you have the perfect burger and fries combo. Mind you, it doesn't come cheap at about 200 USD per burger but it is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. read more

A must visit when in Stavanger, and I'm a picky American. Nice vibe here, all the food is great and friendly service too. Would just recommend the bar area is opened up for dining+drinking as well. read more
