    Firenze Trattoria meal

On Mother's Day, my husband and I went to Firenze for dinner. We ordered the Bone-in ribeye steak. This was what we received. There was so much fat. It was impossible to eat. By the time we got past all the fat, there was very little meat left. When I explained it to the waitress, she said the cook gave me $10 off! What an insult! It ruined my Mother's Day dinner. I wish I would've demanded that I my money back. The bill was over $120..

Old line Italian in Encinitas. Excellent atmosphere in and out. Huge portions. Very shareable. Excellent service by Bill. Four dishes. Each unexceptional in their own way. My Caesar was excellent though. It's a nice place to hang out.

The veal Marsala entree was just amazing and thankfully perfectly seasoned and not salt loaded like many restaurants do.

Lovely ambience and a wonderful server with delicious food. Seems pricey but generous portions of Italian classics. We thought we made reservations but did not but still were very graciously accommodated. Cozy outdoor table. Nice beverage selection. Calamari appetizer was cooked perfectly with a delicious marinara. We all had different items and enjoyed them all but I had the veal Marsala and loved it. It was NOT over salted and had a delectable sauce with plenty of mushrooms and served with green beans and a lovely small pasta side. There was definitely a lot of butter involved but the leftovers made for another excellent lunch the next day. Linguine and clams was also excellent and also buttery. The others loved their dishes too. We all shared some amazing chocolate lava type dessert. Some restaurants speed up or drag out your meal, but our server let us pace ourselves and it was perfect. Wish I remembered her name.

Located on the Olivenhain side of the Encinitas and Rancho Santa Fe border my family and I have been coming to Firenze Trattoria for many years because we live in RSF and FT always has consistently good food and great service. For this most recent visit I was in town for the Christmas holiday and we chose FT as our final family dinner. Inside is very large with many different seating options and a large bar. It is located in a sleepy shopping center so there is always plenty of easy parking. Our server Bill was fantastic and really added to the meal. All of our dishes arrived shortly after ordering and the portion sizes are generous. For this most recent visit I started off with the Carpaccio di Manzo and thought it was wonderful. I have been ordering this dish since I was a kid and this version was one of the better ones I have had in a few months. For my entree I chose the Seabass Oreganato and loved it. The Seabass was large and flavorful but the baked bread crumbs on top really made the dish for me and was a unique variant. I would highly recommend both to anyone. Overall a really nice Italian option in a beautiful part of San Diego and I am already looking forward to my next visit.

I was craving a Caesar salad and I've enjoyed theirs in the past. I live close by so I decided to grab a quick lunch. I was welcomed and seated quickly. I opted for the pretty outdoor area. There were only about 4 tables of patrons. I was brought out a place setting water and a basket of bread very soon after being seated. My server took a bit to come by but she was welcoming and friendly. I glanced at the menu but I knew what I wanted already. I tried the bread. It was dry and tasted a bit stale. I was surprised there was nothing served with the bread but didn't question it. My salad took awhile but I was enjoying the patio. When it finally arrived I was a bit surprised at the small size for the price. It was decent but the dressing was a bit sparse and it was not as good as I remembered it. My server checked in a few times. When I was done the server was no where to be seen. I waited about 10 minutes before she reappeared. I paid my bill and as I got up to leave I noticed the remaining tables all had oil and vinegar on their tables. As you can see in my photo I never received it. Probably a good thing because the bread on its own wasn't great so I only ate half a piece, I certainly don't need the extra carbs. I would probably come here for happy hour but not likely during regular food service, too bad because it's so close.

Let's start with the positive. This place has a nice ambiance and the menu looks appetizing. However, the service is painfully slow and the food is underwhelming. We were a party of 12 and we got seated at 6:30. We got our food at 7:40. 7:40!!! Ordered the rigatoni vodka and carbonara. Other folks have ordered other dishes that seem ok. The pasta dishes were mediocre. I'd pass on both pastas honestly. Again, ambiance is nice and the servers are nice. Just slow and food is underwhelming for the price.

The experience was fantastic from start to finish. Sonia was responsive over email and accommodated several changes in a timely manner, despite also pulling double duty as the on-site manager and server at our event. On the day of the event, the team arrived on time and was incredibly helpful and positive, even while navigating a tricky setup and getting their mobile oven parked in a very specific location. Most importantly, the food was incredible. We served artichokes, meatballs, prosciutto and tomato bruschetta, along with the Regina, Augusta, and Sergio pizzas. Everything was terrific. The food was so good that the chef received a spontaneous round of applause from our guests! I couldn't have asked for a better catering experience. Good communication, a wonderful attitude, and truly exceptional food. Highly recommended.

Buona Forchetta came highly recommended by a friend who raves about their pizzas. After trying it…read moremyself, I'd rate it closer to a 3.5 out of 5. It's a solid neighborhood restaurant, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. We ordered two pizzas: a gluten-free Margherita and a regular Margherita. One thing that immediately stood out was how similar the two crusts tasted. Both had a comparable level of chewiness, which was surprising given that one was gluten-free. The gluten-free crust lacked some of the wheaty, earthy flavor you'd expect from a traditional dough, but overall I was genuinely impressed by its texture and quality. It's one of the better gluten-free pizza crusts I've had. The pizzas are Neapolitan-style and generally enjoyable. The dough itself is well made, though I would have preferred a bit more chew and structure to take it to the next level. My biggest criticisms are the sauce and cheese. The sauce was applied too sparingly, leaving the pizza without enough moisture or cohesion to tie the different components together. More importantly, the flavor felt one-dimensional--mostly salty, without the rich tomato sweetness, depth, and complexity that make a great Neapolitan pizza memorable. But I want to be fair. Judging from the photos posted by other Yelpers, some of the pizzas shown have a good amount of pizza sauce. I need to try the food again and update my review. As for the cheese, the fresh mozzarella on the Margherita didn't quite meet expectations. The slices had a firmer texture than I typically associate with fresh mozzarella and lacked some of the soft, creamy moisture that helps create that signature melt. The flavor was also milder than expected; instead of delivering a pronounced milky richness, it tasted somewhat diluted. This may be a minor criticism, but on a simple pizza like a Margherita, where every ingredient is on display, these details become much more noticeable. Overall, Buona Forchetta serves a respectable Neapolitan-style pizza, and its gluten-free option is particularly impressive. However, the underwhelming sauce and mozzarella kept the pizzas from reaching the level I was expecting given the enthusiastic recommendations.

They're nestled in a saffron cream sauce that glows a deep golden orange and is slightly aromatic. The tomatoes add just enough acidity to brighten each bite. This family-run restaurant has been around since 2000, with a cozy and romantic interior that feels like a true trattoria but I always choose to sit outside to soak in that incredible Cali weather most of the year. My iced tea was half filled with soda water, so I sent it back. The owner or manager told me they were having problems with the "gun" meaning the soda gun??? This was a huge red flag for me since they were giving me iced tea from a soda gun. What? Our bill for three people was way over $100, and they were giving me iced tea from a soda gun? Luna Grill brews fresh iced tea, but not Cicciottis? How can such a nice Italian Fine Dining restaurant not brew fresh iced tea? That is like giving me instant coffee at a steak house. The food came and it was okay. I was so rattled by the tea issue. If they are cutting corners and saving money by giving its customers soda gun iced tea, then where else are they cutting corners in the kitchen? It was just okay with me. I just can't get past the soda gun iced tea. Most fast food places like McDonalds, In and Out, Panda all brew their own tea. I just can't believe this place does not??? I will not return.
