It had been a while since my last dinner at 3rd Corner. The food is typically good but the service was spotty. Our dinner last night was perfect. Great food. Lots of wine. Excellent service. We were a party of 4. We started by ordering a very nice bottle of Chappellet wine. Our shared starter was the hummus plate which was the right amount for 4 persons. We came during Happy Hr and had some nice Pinot & a couple different dishes. Shrimp taquitos & the Caprese sandwich. Sat at the bar and had a friendly & attentive bartender. Ordered the roasted chicken dish was very dry and instead of a combination on vegetables I got a few green beans was told that was the summer vegetable. For $28.00 I was very disappointed, I ordered a side of vegetables and they charged ne an additional $ 8.00. For 2 people no alcohol or dessert it was $120. 00. Then they tried to take everything off the table a half hour before closing and the girl said the dishwasher needed this. Really dont think I'll go back. read more

First, the good. A great wine selection at fair prices, including good picks by the glass. Very cool that you can pick a bottle from their nice collection at retail. Service was friendly and attentive, but they messed up the description of an app we were interested in. Training error--NBD. We weren't super hungry so we ordered the Chef's Board and Clam Chowder. Two of the three cured meats tasted of freezer burn and the brie was bland. Olives were over brined and mushy. The whole mustard tasted off as well. On the good side, the baguette was well made, although it was made without salt, which I dislike unless I'm dipping it in something salty. The clam chowder had the consistency of heavy pasty roux with no clam flavor. At least the wine was good. read more

Second time even better especially with a hot chick. Digging the prix fixe (does that mean it's a fixed price?) Kale and strawberries? Really? Really good. :) Oh the colors!!! Man, duck breast with a medley of Brussels sprouts and potatoes. Ah....yes??? Marbled potatoes, dang, flavorful and so dang tasty. Not hard like marbled at all, mention to the manager to change that. You don't even need to think about what to drink because they already did it for you. Wow! Great idea. Then some kind of dessert and a small glass of something from Italy. Holy jeez!!! 3rd Corner has excellent Cassoulet. It's actually difficult to find a restaurant that makes this dish. There are a few places that claim they offer it but when you call ahead they tell you they're "out". One place in LA had it on their menu, I called ahead to verify they had it, was told "yes" but when we showed up we were told they didn't really have Cassoulet. The only place we could really find it was in Southwest France. So last night we went to 3rd Corner seeking Cassoulet. My wife and I both ordered it. It was excellent. The food was great. We had the baked Brie and then went halfsies on the scallops and short ribs. The service kinda sucked. The staff was really slow despite the fact that the restaurant was empty and went asked for the soup that was part of the menu and were told we couldn't have it even though we had ordered something more expensive. It was kinda lame. They ended up giving us the soup but it was so-so. We got the chocolate something for dessert, and while the flavor was good the thing was so hard we kept slamming our spoons into the plate to try to get a bite. Visited for dinner as part of a girl's weekend getaway. Although there were six of us, I'm only reviewing my meal and the overall general thoughts of this great little restaurant/wine bar. (there are other Yelpers part of this group!) We had reservations and when we arrived, we were immediately seated. We requested outdoor seating and found the wrap-around patio completely covered, warm and welcoming. I'm not a wine drinker so just opted to have water to drink. The others all had wine, purchasing a few bottles and raving over their choices. The wine area is fully stocked with a huge selection of bottles along with other items that go along with wine drinking like glasses, etc. I ordered the Roasted Chicken, which was a Mary's Free Range brand. You get a half of a perfectly roasted chicken severed with garlic mashed potatoes, and huge cuts of yellow squash, zucchini, and carrots...all covered with a yummy, light lemon sauce. Could not ask for a better tasting dish! I had also ordered a baguette, which came with butter and shared with a few others. The bread is that crispy crust, soft warm center kind that you want to crave! I would recommend this place as it is an official wine bar, with a food menu that is French inspired with escargot and Pom frittes, plus they have my favorite cheese, I believe it's Humboldt Fog a goat cheese with a fine mold line cooked in a iron skillet with delicious mushrooms and toasted brioche spears. This restaurant has themed dinner, wine education and a wine membership program. Review for Sunday night dinner. The Sunday night 3-course prix fixe is a good deal for $29.99. Changes each week and is posted online. This week it was a simple salad with feta and olives, small dessert (chocolate chip bread pudding), and then either mahi with mashed potatoes, or beef with risotto. The best thing here is the wine deal: instead of paying $15/glass like at a lot of places, you can get a good value wine from the shop, $12 and up plus corkage. So I think we spent $22 for a bottle of tasty white altogether, which was a lot cheaper than $60 for 4 glasses. Patio is nice. We reserved on Yelp. Service was around less than we might have liked - it took a while to get water refills or ask about things. But they were friendly. Definitely Sunday night is the best deal here. Especially when you're getting wine! And easy parking in the Lumberyard too. read more

Have been going there for years. Wish they would bring back that big, thick, pork chop. They did bring back their great cheeseburger-delicious. In fact all the food I have ever ordered was very good to excellent. They have a great selection of wines that you can order. They charge $7.00 corkage for opening and serving the wine you just selected or your own that you brought. That is reasonable. Their wait staff is very friendly. Wait, what, they took cobb salad off the menu? If enough people complain, they might bring it back, just like they did with the cheeseburger. read more

Had dinner with friends last week, it had been a minute since we been here for dinner, looked forward to another nice experience. Unfortunately we left dissatisfied. While the dining room was not nearly full, we felt rushed by the server. Rude is too strong a word, maybe curt more closely describes his demeanor. After food arrived, never saw anyone for water refills or beverage reorders. Cocktail was average at best. Food over seasoned. Too bad for us. We brought our neighbors to the Encinitas location for dinner on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. We had raved to them about this place, so they said, "Let's go!" I made a reservation for the previous Monday because their reservation system let me. When we pulled up they were closed so we had to go somewhere else. Strike 1. So we decided to reschedule for Tuesday, July 15. We had planned to order cocktails first because the website said that Tuesdays are Happy Hour All day. My neighbor wanted to double check that it was indeed still HH. The waiter said that is no longer offered. Then why does their website still say it? We fully expected our waiter to honor it. He did not. Strike 2. Now I'll tell you about our waiter. He was tall with dark, curly hair. He did not introduce himself, wore no name tag, and waited for us to speak. He acted like he didn't want to be there. The guys went to choose a bottle of wine. I noticed that in that section of the restaurant, which is near the bar, there were boxes all over the tables and things were being moved. Not good for ambiance. We wondered if they are closing. The waiter came back to open the wine but did not take our order. In fact, we waited quite a while for him to take our order. Our neighbor ordered pasta and asked if it came with bread. He just said, "No." I mentioned that they used to bring bread to the table before we even ordered. He said it is no longer included and would be an extra fee. He didn't tell us what the fee would be, but she ordered it anyway. Strike 3. Seriously, what has happened to the Third Corner? We used to bring all of our friends there, but we noticed it going down hill quite a while ago. The food is still good, though the selections are fewer, but the service is horrible! One more thing we've always wondered about. We are wine club members, but when we choose a bottle of wine to enjoy with our dinner there, we have to pay full price plus corkage. That has never made sense to us. Our wine club discount should still apply whether we take it to go or drink it there. It seems like a slap in the face to the most loyal customers. So, are they closing? Nobody knows. And why should I keep bringing friends there? It has become embarrassing. It's sad to see a restaurant we've enjoyed for so many years become like this. Maybe the owner needs to be more present, maybe they need a new manager, they definitely need to train their waiters! The 2 stars are for the chef. read more
