The most horrible experience at this shop I have ever had. My car was dropped off on sunday and the appointment was made on saturday to have my car fixed. I get a phone call on monday.That the mechanic left sick.They had nobody else to fix my car. I was given a call on tuesday and also informed again the mechanic was out and they had nobody else to work on it. Both days my car should have been done.I was also given a call on wednesday and was informed they looked at the part that was sent to them, and it was the wrong part. So then again, my car was pushed back to be done on thursday morning. I called thursday morning at 1030 and was informed that the car would not be done until the end of the day. I was told, initially, it was a 5 hour job. Now with my vehicle that has sat there and sunday until now.Why has it not been worked on?And why is it not the highest priority. I have even reached out to have the area manager.Call me back and still have not heard anything. I will be reporting this shop to the new york state attorney general's office and anybody else that I can. No customers should ever be treated like this. And the shop should have adequate staffing.In case if somebody gets sick. I will never recommend this shop again and I feel that anybody that was there should be fired. read more

Solid. Inexpensive. Treats customers well. I generally try to use indy tire places for my vehicles, even for my semi-beater VW station wagon, but I was in a hurry, and needed my Tire Rack tires mounted and balanced before a trip. Over the phone, these guys agreed to put on the tires the day I called them, if I could show up by noon and leave the car 'til 7pm. When I got there a few minutes after noon, they were super-friendly, and promised they'd get it done. Because I rushed up there, my ride couldn't arrive until a few hours later. I spent a couple hours in the waiting room, and got to hear the staff interacting with customers. They were unfailingly polite, and seemed to treat everyone well, and, as far as I could tell, they were prompt about calling folks to give them details about on-going repairs, or when repairs were finished. I've dealt with many, many mechanics and service writers, who, though very competent, were not nearly this good about dealing with customers. My ride finally got there, and I spent the rest of the day bombing around Syracuse. Firestone called me back at 6:30pm or so to let me know that the work was done and that if I couldn't make it back before they closed, they'd be happy to stow my car indoors. When I arrived, they recognized me, gave me a friendly greeting, and charged me less than I expected to pay. They even gave me some advice on removing rust from my lug bolts (I'm still getting used to living someplace where they salt the roads all winter). The tires seemed to ride just fine, with no untoward vibration. I did get a warning on the dashboard about tire inflation after about 60 miles (everything was fine, one tire was inflated to about 2 pounds less than the others). I'm not sure whether this was my VW being fussy, or whether they didn't get a chance to reset the tire pressure monitor on the central console after changing the tires. In any case, I think they did a good job, and for a low price. And, bonus, there are a variety of tasty restaurants right around the corner. (Reading the other reviews, I'm not sure if I'd green-light whatever repairs they suggested, but they did a good job of the work I specifically asked for, and they certainly were pleasant and easy to deal with.) read more

I want to spread this review on all platforms so people know how crooked, dishonest and looters they are. I've done business with this Firestone location for auto service on a number of occasions over the past few years. I first came in for a NYS inspection on one of my vehicles and learned about their lifetime alignment which was on sale at the time. Shortly thereafter I brought my other vehicle in and purchased a second lifetime alignment service. Since then I've made it a habit to get the alignment checked and corrected twice a year when I switch between my all season and winter tires on both vehicles. I've also purchased a set of 4 Blizzak winter tires, numerous full synthetic oil changes, and full synthetic gear oil changes for my 4WD drivetrain. I understand that vehicles are complex machines and that I live in perhaps one of the worst environments deep in the Rust Belt, making maintaining them properly even more difficult. Even if things didn't always go quite right with the work done on my vehicles, I've always received great service and never any unnecessary up sell bullshit that is so common with other garages. When the technicians have made mistakes, I've called them on it, and it's always been made right. One time an OEM aluminum wheel was heavily scratched by a sloppy tire install and Firestone replaced the wheel at their cost with almost no questions asked. Another time, faulty or incompatible aftermarket TPMS sensors that I brought in with new wheels for mounting with a fresh set of Firestone all-season tires, had issues communicating with my vehicle resulting in a constant warning light display on the dash. Despite multiple reset attempts at no extra charge, Firestone couldn't get the TPMS sensors to work properly and the manager advised me of the correct OEM TPMS sensors. When I purchased and brought in the recommended OEM TPMS sensors, Firestone unmounted all 4 tires, installed the sensors in the wheels, and remounted and balanced the tires at no charge to me whatsoever. Honestly, what more can you ask for than honest work and great customer service? read more

I'm gonna be honest, these people are wildly sexist and careless scammers. The last time I was there I made an appointment and arrived on time, when I asked to pick up my car early afternoon the man was extremely rude to me and insisted they couldn't complete an oil change and tire rotation until closing because they were so booked. A man older than me arrived five minutes later and they were extremely accommodating, asked him when he'd like to get his vehicle for the same service, offered to rush to get it done by 1. I had to have my boyfriend call and ask them to finish it at the time I requested, which they agreed to only then despite me arranging for this in advance. I explicitly asked them to take a look at my brakes because they felt shaky. I was told they had a ton of life left in them, but I had a bad feeling about it and they started making a knocking noise a couple weeks later. I took them into a different mechanic who informed me the pads and rotors were completely shot, and I had a tie rod that was extremely loose. My brakes could have failed on me and I could have been in a serious accident because the guys at Firestone treated me like I was too stupid to know how my car feels or tell the difference of whether a service is done correctly. They tacked on a ton of extra costs I didn't ask for when I was there two times ago and it was wildly expensive even though I'd had similar services done recently that didn't need to be updated. Maybe you'll get okay service if you're a man but these misogynistic jerks don't think they have to give a crap about your safety if you're not. Boycott these losers. Stay away. read more

From the clean waiting area with complimentary coffee to the guys Jason and Sam that greet me by name even though I haven't seen them in six months, I feel very fortunate to have found a place that will take care of my vehicle when I need them to. I have a terrible terrible terrible story to tell, and I'll tell it day by day. Feb 27th, 2018 I went to Firestone at 3702 Erie Blvd E in Syracuse for a New York State inspection. After the inspection, a tech(his name is Sam) told me that there are three major problems within my car: the front right parking light is broken; the back right tire is completely flat due to a nail; the front wheel brake is almost in failure. And he told me they could fix everything for me at a price of 1076 dollars. Since I had a tire warranty with Pep Boys, I told the tech to fix all the problems except the tire at the price of 909 dollars. The time when I picked up my car that night, I noticed that the front right parking light still hasn't be lighten up. Feb 28th, 2018 The other day I went back to the store and claim the problem, at first the tech insist that he did change the light bulb(sounds like his job is only to replace the light bulb rather than make it work), and I told him I pay you money to fix the problem, and what you said makes absolutely no logic, as after you replaced the light bulb how can you possibly not testing on it; if you test it and it doesn't work, how can you say you've done your job. The tech finally agreed to give me a refund, however, he still insisted that he did his job. Because of the light bulb issue, I start to wondering if they did the rest of the jobs correctly or not, as light bulb failure is very obvious, but it's hard for me to know if they really replaced the brake fluid. Later that day I did a complete inspection again in Pep Boys, and the result is funny: my brake fluid is not being replaced, or partially being replaced(the test color is dark pink, if they replaced the brake fluid completely it is going to be white or light pink). What's more, the light bulb on the front seems like it has burned and sit there for a long period of time, which means there's no way somebody has replaced it recently. It is a scam. So basically Firestone overcharged me around 200 dollars for something they claimed they have accomplished but didn't, and if I'm not alert enough I'll never notice it. Now I still didn't get my refund for the Blake fluid fee, and I even doubt if my rear tire is broken at the the first place( I came in for a 21 dollars state inspection, I feel nothing wrong with my car, but end up be charged 900 dollars for car repairment). read more

Went here for an alignment, wheel balancing, oil change and NYS inspection. I waited 3 hours. They said they couldn't do the inspection because the ball joints were bad, the tie rod was bad and they couldn't do the alignment with a bad tie rod so all they did was the oil change and wheel balancing. I left, drove into the repair shop 2 buildings down. They did the inspection, it passed with no issues. My car seems to have repaired itself on the drive down the street to a different repair shop. This a couple years old, but I just remembered what a pain these guys were after I dropped around $500 for a set of oversized tires (previous owner had new wheels installed). A few hours after driving on the highway, the balance on two tires went seriously out of whack. I called in that day stating I couldn't come in for two more days and was assured it was normal and would be taken care of free. When I did return and have them balanced, a rep tried to argue that since I didn't buy the balancing package I'd have to pay. I was not going to take this laying down and eventually (after a discussion with a supervisor) got them to honor the correction to their initially shoddy work. DO NOT GO HERE! The place is a rip off. My check engine light was on and my inspection was due. I brought my car there December 27th, they "fixed" two O2 sensors (4hrs and $636 later), the check engine light was off. Two days later it came back on. Long story short. after 6 trips back and forth out there because they "fixed it" and it kept coming back on (488 miles on my car), turns out it was not the O2 sensors, it was a flex pipe they were connected to. The manager, Derek showed me the pipe which had a rusted out hole in it. I am not a mechanic, but seeing a hole in a pipe is probably not a good thing. He gave me the basic dumbed down chit chat, talked shit out of his ears (because I am a girl) about how the computers didn't detect the problem right away and there is a process to go through, blah blah blah. Get off the computers and look at the car. How did they not see a hole the first 5 times i was there?? They replaced the pipe for free, because I had already complained that I was not paying for anything else because it wasn't done right the first time, or the 5th time for that matter. I was treated like an idiot and talked down to and felt very disrespected. During this whole time I had made some calls to the corporate office to complain. I ended up getting a full refund for the $636 for the O2 sensors that were not even the problem. The manager called me and said "Since you won't give up until you are satisfied, we are going to give you a full refund. And I would prefer if you don't come back here for anymore service". He needs to be fired. This place over charges and does Sh*tty work. They create more problems so they can get more money from you. They probably assumed I was going to be a typical "stupid" girl and pay for everything and not put up a fight, WRONG! I suggest to anyone to call the corporate office if you are ever having any issues, they were excellent there and helped me out a lot. Here is a good one from 2014 I almost forgot about. My fiance goes into this establishment asking for an oil change. She calls me crying saying transmission fluid is leaking and she needs alignment. Little did the sales rep know my father-in-law is a expert mechanic and had inspected the entire vehicle and aligned the tires 2 days prior in his own facility. We forgot to get the oil change done and its the only reason I sent her to Firestone (father-in-law is an hour drive so we wanted to save on gas). My father-in-law talked to the mechanic and asked which tires were not in alignment, he wanted documentation. He also wanted pictures of the transmission fluid leak and suddenly a miracle happened. The mechanic said the leak was not so bad and it was no longer an emergency. I can only imagine how many men and women have been taken advantage of because they do not have a family member who knows cars. It was funny listening to the mechanic scramble on the phone with my father-in-law when he knew he messed with the wrong girl. Management don't even bother responding to this review - I know corporate puts pressure on you to bring in as much money as possible I get it. You just got caught red-handed trying to perform work that already had been done that same week. Nice try. read more
