After hearing my new skid plate clatter on I-40 all the way from Albuquerque because it had been improperly installed at a dealership, I was very relieved when Firestone re-secured it the next day. I happened to be in downtown Gallup and randomly walked into Firestone and asked if they could fix it without an appointment. Service was prompt, pleasant, and free. They showed me photos of the badly chewed-up but still functional skid plate which had not been secured on both sides when it was installed. Thank you so much! read more

Got a flat tire and went to Firestone to get a replacement for my utility trailer tire and rim. They had the tire but no rim. So I had them replace both just so I had 2 new tires. I only drove for about 35-40 miles when the tire blew. The employee did not check the gage or the proper air pressure for the 2 new tires because after the tire blew we checked the 2nd tire and the gage about blew off read at 80 so we deflated it over 1/2 the pressure. I ended up going to Delta tires because this time it when the tire literally blew it destroyed my rim so I needed a new rim. Delta did have both so I replaced both 2 new tires & rims.. Called Firestone but they said that I was out of luck because they DO NOT WARRANTY those tires. They really didn't care. read more

First, a haiku: Yeesh! So terrible! Can't change a spark plug or belt. Too busy for you. Next, a limerick: I made an appointment online. Yet when I showed up, they didn't have time. The job was easy. But they did me sleazy. Charged me a pot-o-gold for a lie! Finally, some mustard: I used Firestone's online scheduler to book an appointment and received confirmation that all was good to go. The job was to be new spark plugs and a new serpentine belt. When I showed up for my appointment, staff clearly hadn't checked the scheduler. They were also clearly annoyed I was there. After lots of "we'll be right with you's" and lots and lots of waiting, they finally took my keys; and it looked like everything was finally good to go. Not so. A while later, I was called to come get my vehicle. Only two of six spark plugs had been changed; the belt hadn't been changed either. They ostensibly had run into some issue, and couldn't complete the job. (Still got charged full price for labor!) Salt in the wound was when my check engine light came on awhile down the road. Upon opening the hood, I noticed that lots of the vacuum lines for the emissions system were totally disconnected! What they'd been doing is beyond me, but the technicians definitely didn't put stuff back properly... Ug! Are there no good mechanics in the world?? read more

Long story short: I had them do a tune -up, brakes, new tires and alignment. Spent $2400+ on the whole repair. I took it home and it was not running right. I found They did not even connect one of the spark plug wires to the plug, two more were not seated firmly onto the plugs. Now, more problems with the engine running rough and having no power. Took it to a different mechanic and was told three wires were not connected at the other end, and I had to pay them $500 for a new set of plug wires (the ones that Firestone claimed were new have been arcing and melted the boots on three of them) and labor. Because of the age of the car and the opti ignition system the changing plugs and wires is four hours of labor. I was also told that Firestone put Bosch spark plugs in which are not recommended for an older car like mine, and the mechanic was very doubtful the the wires were actually new ones. So I got to pay for plug wires twice ($170 a set) and labor to change the wires twice. My car is a 95 and not that complicated. How does a mechanic not even connect spark plug wires? read more

Like anywhere else, you have to know what you're talking about and make sure you're clear about what you want and what you don't want. I live 95 miles from Gallup, up on the reservation, and Firestone is my preferred place to go for auto work. read more

If there was an option for negative stars I'd give -10! Do NOT trust this shop. I went in to have my spark plugs replaced before making a long drive by myself (which I told them about). Within a month my truck began to idle very rough than felt like it was misfiring. Finally was able to take it to the dealership. When they pulled my spark plugs and gave them to me 3 of them were still the original plugs (with very high mileage and it showed) the other 5 were newer but were not even the right part for me truck! After 3 days in a dealer service shop for diagnostic tests and over $900 later my truck is running good-ish again. Except for the motor mounts that have been worn loose from the engine having such a rough idle for all those miles I got to drive alone through the middle of nowhere with no cell service. After speaking to the store manager he was very condescending and rude. I was told by corporate that a "case manager" would be calling me which has yet to happen. They have until Tuesday to resolve this or I will be escalating to the department of consumer affairs as well as the BBB. Standby for update but stay away from this shop, absolutely unethical unprofessional and, if I'm not mistaken, illegal practices of business. Ugh. Can you trust ANYONE these days? Don't let the name fool you. I came here because the ABS lights were on. Service people recommended that I not drive my car, so I left it in their care because the parts were ordered and was expected the following day. Long horrific story short- 4 days later, I was told that the parts were the wrong ones and had to be reordered twice. WOW! In the end, I paid for parts that did not need to be replaced but were replaced, a method of making the company more money. Service is bad. You may have to wait until ALBQ for mechanic auto service. read more

Went for a routine oil change. They tried to upsale us a tire balance but we didn't have time as we were on a road trip. Literally as soon as we got on the road the check engine light came on. We had been on the road for 3 days and no issues and I have a reader on my car so it told me what was the issue. We called them and it was fishy because they didn't act surprised and told us to come back immediately. We did not and another mechanic told us that there was a hole poked in our catalytic converter. Firestone clearly saw two women traveling and took advantage of our situation. Never going to any of that chain again. read more

Wow, what a day! Husband and I are traveling cross country and on a Sunday, our 2006 Toyota Avalon battery light comes on when leaving Gallup after a nights stay to head up to Colorado. We pull over and call AAA. There's no service places open on Sunday and the Toyota dealership is also closed so they tied us to this Firestone. We have never been to a Firestone but we couldn't have been happier with the staff there and especially Kyle!! From our first call to him to tell him we are being towed to Firestone, he was kind, understanding and put our minds at ease that they would try and determine what was wrong. It was the alternator unfortunately, but Kyle said they could replace it but not sure if they could today as they were slammed with folks getting their cars worked on. We booked another night in Gallup but no way to get to hotel and with a car full of luggage and coolers. There's no car rental places open on Sunday and the Uber couldn't take us in their small car and all we had loaded from our car. Kyle worked tirelessly along with other employees and got the car fixed, even staying past closing. We have nothing but praise for he and employees and Firestone to get us back on the road again. read more

My car broke down, and they said it was a timing belt.. they ordered a timing belt and then said it was not the timing belt. Then three to four days go by and they said it needed a complete motor rebuild. I said I'd be by the next day to pick it up and was told I wouldn't be charged a garage fee. Then come to find out that same night it was "magically" broken into and about 6,000 dollars worth of stuff was stolen, and wasn't in the garage. The one and only night It wasn't in the garage. It shouldn't take three days to find the car problem if it had spark and it had fuel, which means a compression issue... ridiculous! But all in all, I literally lost EVERYTHING from bringing a vehicle to this shop as I passed through the town. I have my suspicions it was an employee due to the fact they knew exactly what was in my vehicle and the poor and slow service they provided just to tell me it needed a rebuilt engine after they knew it was a compression issue. After all the labor, they didn't even charge me the 99 dollar diagnostic fee which makes me more suspicious.... why wouldn't they charge me that fee if they didn't have an inside job going on. Disappointing. I had a low tire pressure warning light appear this morning. I stopped by Firestone to ask them to check my (very expensive) set of Firestone tires and I could not get anyone to acknowledge me. No hello. No good morning. Nothing. An older employee in the lobby was preoccupied with the printer and the younger guy was engrossed in his computer. And both totally ignored me. They advertise transmission service but can't even check the fluid level on a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer. They said it's a dealer only service and didn't have the tools. After making a few calls, it can be done at Jiffy Lube, Leyba's, Rico Auto Complex, Goodyear, and American Tire in Gallup. read more

I went to Firestone first thing on a Saturday morning, after checking out of our hotel. I wanted to have my tires balanced and get back on the road. My daughter and I tried waiting inside but it soon became crowded so we went for a walk around the block. Came back and saw car was up on rack, so great...... went next door to Jerry's Cafe, get a call from Lewis stating we needed new tires, a new battery, new windshield wipers, and control arms. 1300 worth of work. Told him no, just balance the 2 front tires. Needless to say, they weren't happy. Picked up car, noticed a loud squeal coming from front tires. Immediately pulled back in to lot, and confronted technician Gaylen about this new noise. Somehow the brake pad dust cover got bent enough to touch the rim. After that, we left and continued on our way to California. Unpacked our vehicle to find that my daughter's Nintendo Switch, which had been beside the front seat with sweatshirts over it, was missing. Every place we stopped between Firestone and California we were careful not to knock anything out of the car, always locked our doors, etc. Our laptops were in the backseat and weren't touched. I feel that my daughter's Switch was stolen in retaliation for me denying them a huge ticket to start their day. Still dealing with this, as I feel going through their employee's things 2 days later doesn't prove it wasn't stolen by them. The police have been contacted as well. I just want her switch and games and case replaced. I should have been able to trust them, now I will never use Firestone again and I will be sure to spread the word that when in Gallup, avoid them at all costs!!! read more

Excellent service. We had a small bit of damage to our car during a snow storm and this place was the only auto place open when we pulled into Gallup in the evening. They were extremely nice even though they were swamped with customers. They told us to come back at 7 the next morning when they opened. We did and they got us back on the road in just an hour or so and were very thorough in explaining the damage to us as well as what work they would need to do. The work was not very expensive and I don't think we were overcharged at all. Very good experience- wish they were in my hometown. read more

Very slow for just an oil change. I've been here two hours and still waiting. A while ago I asked how much longer and was told it would be 10 more minutes before they pulled it into the bay. Twenty five minutes later they finally pulled it in. There doesn't seem to be an overwhelming number of puerile here for service, either. read more

double check there work you requested them to do for you. we went in to get valve stem replaced because obviously it was broken and letting air out. had them check the front end as well. while we got back on the road 40miles later we had a flat tire. turns out they never fixed the problem the valve stem was still broken and the cause of our flat! very disappointed. read more

Ran into some trouble with our my car vibrating as we left Albuquerque. Got our car towed from the hotel to Firestone the next morning where we had made an appointment. It did take a while for the diagnosis but we walked around and found a café so it wasn't an issue. Found out we had CV joint trouble on one side and they said they'd fix it right away, unfortunately later on they found out they had the wrong part They offered to order the new one to be there in the morning and fix it then and offered to give us a ride to the hotel we were staying at and to get us in the morning to bring us back to the car. The service was phenomenal and of all the places for the car to have an issue, I'm glad they were nearby and we weren't on the side of the highway. They also did not treat us any different for being from out of town which was awesome. 10/10 would recommend read more

Horrible service. I made an appointment to come in at 4:30 for oil change and alignment. The oil change (didn't even air up my tires) took an hour and a half then the alignment was going to take another hour. Each time I asked about the reasoning for the wait, the answer changed. First it was because they were "multi-tasking" and working on several cars at once. The second reply was because they had a new technician. The third reasoning is because some other car was on the alignment machine and I had to wait. When I asked what the point of making an appointment was, they told me there really isn't a reason to. I came back the next morning for the alignment, which I was told would be 45 minutes. He showed me the paper and what was wrong with the alignment and gave me two choices. I could get just the toe fixed for a quick fix or I could get the whole right side done correctly and it would be about an hour and a half. I chose to get it done correctly and arranged a ride. I went to get breakfast across the street, upon returning 10 minutes later, my car was waiting out front ready for me. When I went in, the man told me it was ready and he fixed it all. He was explaining what they did, but still pointing to the alignment paper showing the car was not aligned. I told him I needed the print out of the corrections and the current alignment. He told me he couldn't print it. I said I need proof of what you did. He said the printer failed. So he said he would put the car back up and then get a print out. I could see from the window they were messing with the computer screen and looking at the car and watching red and yellow boxes flash on screen, where the other boxes were green. I saw them print several papers, then throw to the side. Not sure what all of that was about, but I feel very taken advantage of here. The whole time I felt like they were telling me different than what they were actually doing. There was another man in the lobby that was griping about an issue as well. read more

We were in Santa Fe and started hearing our brakes creaking. As we were on a road trip, we just kept plowing down the highway. But, after a bit of reconsideration, we decided that we should get them checked out. I called ahead and they asked why we weren't going to Albuquerque as it was closer. Not an illogical question, but we were trying to make forward progress. They were a little slow in checking things out, but very nice. They determined that we needed work that only Toyota could do, and sent us on our way, recommending that we get it checked out by Toyota ASAP. We did and it seemed that we only needed a simple brake bleed, my initial assumption. However, I appreciated the Firestone's honesty about the scope of their abilities. We only paid a nominal amount for their effort. They are not even close to where we live, but I wish good people like that worked in my town! read more
