I recently had an accident on a Friday night and broke my axle. It was quite late so I had my car towed to the Sears Woodland because I knew they were open on Saturday, and I was moving to Chicago the next day. Unfortunately, they were unable to do that kind of repair. I was going to have to have my car towed for a second time, so I wanted to make sure the next place could do it. I called over the Firestone, and spoke with Randy. He wasn't sure if he was able to do it, so he was kind enough to drive over (in the pouring rain) and take a look so I didn't waste my money on the tow. I brought it over there, and the tech looked at it. Randy was honest and straight-forward on what I needed done - he even called a few different places to find the lowest price on parts. He gave me an estimate and promised they would get it drivable by the end of the day so I could make the move the next day. It took much longer than they thought, but the tech working on my car stayed two hours after closing to get it done! Then I went to pick up my car and they actually saved me about $100 from the original estimate since some parts didn't need to be replaced. Randy even called me personally to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. May 2026, I took my car in for a tire rotation. I went in before work thinking they would be no more than 20 to 30 minutes. They were back there with my car from about 7:12 AM to after 7:52 AM. Mind you, I was one of the first people there when they opened at 7. So not only was I late for work but they were checking my brakes and doing other stuff without asking. While I appreciate the gesture, it's completely not what I brought my car in for. Next time I know not to trust those kinds of services when I have somewhere else to be afterwards but regardless, extra things shouldn't be done without checking with the customer first. ADDITIONALLY - when I went to open my driver side door. I saw some dirt on it and went to wipe it off, just for there to be a big scratch on it. I reported it to the manager and their claims department called me once. I was out of the country at the time and missed the call. I have called their claims/insurance department back COUNTLESS times and left multiple voicemails. I even tried emailing and have not received a call back two months later. Needless to say, I will never be back to this location again. Update from above - they denied my request saying that there's no proof that it happened there. When I literally had dirt on my car and a brand new scratch underneath. Will never go here again or recommend it to anyone. Even customer service stopped answering me. Save your time. They quoted me $1,100 and told me that I needed my brake fluid flushed, and both front and back brakes replaced. Our Subaru had the check engine light come on along with a flashing brake light on the dash system. We took the car Firestone and they did a diagnostic for #104.99 and a brake inspection for an additional cost. We went into Firestone to discuss repairs and related costs and the representative was not able to give good answers or pricing. Several times we were told we paid $104.99 for the diagnostic inspection! They would NOT give us the report after I explained that we wanted the report to go to another garage to compare pricing. The guy told us that there was no such report - but we had seen the report that apparently did not exist! We had the car fixed at another very accommodating service garage. read more

I question the knowledge of the people who work here and their equipment. I had an alignment done and brought it here because they can accommodate me sooner than the dealer. This was a few weeks ago. They said the alignment was off and corrected it. I finally brought it to the dealer for an alignment the other day because I felt it wasn't driving properly. They found the alignment quite off. I have Been a loyal customer of Firestone for years. I bought a new set of tires last December, 2018. almost $200,00 a tire. the first month I took my SUV back because of low tire pressure. They put air in 3 tires and sent me on my way. I have ONSTAR and it sends me monthly vehicle diagnostic reports. Everything for oil life electrical system check and tire pressure. Feb of 2018 ONSTAR said I had low tires again. I took it to my dealership and got an oil change and rotation. they said my tires were all low from 33lbs to 29lbs. next month ONSTAR sent me another monthly report Low tires again. I was out of town and had them filled at a quick lube. every month since I bought those tires I have had to put air in them. last month Firestone did an oil change and rotation and had to put air in all 4 tires. whatever. 2 days ago I was sweeping out my garage and there was a big puddle of oil on the floor. I went to Firestone and told them about the oil leak and always having to put air in my tires. they saif it was just some oil spilled on the undercarriage and my tires were not leaking. so Now I am pissed. I come home and put a piece of cardboard on my garage floor and it immediately started catching oil drops. I made an appointment at Goodyear for more new tires. less than 10000 miles on the one I just bought a year ago but I'm tired of dealing with there junk tires and crappy service. So after I get the new tires on I will go to a dealership in Kalamazoo and have them check the oil leak. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO ANY Firestone Store again. they treat you like your stupid and don't know beans about fixing your car. They lie to your face just to get you out of their store. Really happy with my experience! Went in without an appointment on my lunch break and was able to get my car right when I got off work. They kept me updated throughout the day and even called me afterwards to say it was going to be less expensive than originally quoted. Very clean place, good diagnosis but the problem is that they always push products and additional services. So I always go there with my heart in my mouth, scared of what they will "find". Go there knowing what you want to get done, dont ask them what needs to be done. Having said that, they are trustworthy with your car and does a good job. But, as mentioned, they carry the baggage of a big chain and hence try to push. Just say no to additional work or say you will think about it and come back later and you should be ok. read more

I was scheduled to bring in my car to get a four to five hour job done and was told it could be done by the end of the day if I brought it in by 2pm on Friday. My husband and I were in town from Virginia without other means of transportation and it was going to be significantly cheaper here than back home. I called a few days in advance and confirmed the day of. After they had it for almost an hour, they called and told me that they failed to check the mechanic's schedule and he was leaving early that day. They could not fix my car as promised after we made a special trip from Virginia and rushed to drive over ten hours and paid for a hotel in Pennsylvania to get to GR by 2pm and they failed to check the mechanic's schedule any time I called. Didn't explain diagnostics report, have to figure it out for yourself; charged me $99.99 for what?? I have no idea. Also, charged me for Battery Starting/ Charging Check that should have been Free according to coupon on website. When I mentioned this portion of my $368 service bill being refunded back on my credit card, Drew said I would have to come back to the shop for that. They can't do that over the phone. Then, he had the nerve to say, he didn't believe me. Wow! Check out your own website, I told him. Got a call from Kevin to follow-up and he gave excuses as to why they wouldn't refund me. He said they had checked my alternator and starter too, so gotta pay the $23.94. No where on my paperwork is there mention that my alternator and starter were checked. I paid $144.99 for a new battery, along with $77 to replace a left front headlight bulb, for a total of $368, and yet, they didn't top off or even tell me verbally that my fluids were low, including my coolant and windshield washer fluids. Very disappointed. Perhaps, it's because I got a FIXD device and have educated myself about cars that I now realize just how much automotive service shops really take advantage of their customers, especially their female costumers. I couldn't figure out how to put the battery braces back in my Subaru after storing it for the winter, so I stopped by this Firestone at Woodland Mall to ask if they had someone who could help me. Can't remember the guy's name - James? Frank? but he came out and connected the braces and tightened them down, plus tightened the battery cables, no charge. I am so grateful. read more

One of the worst experiences I have had while getting an oil change. There were 2 very upsetting instances... 1) I went on a whim and scheduled an appointment for an oil change because of the low dollar amount on a relatively good replacement oil for a high performance vehicle. Oil was changed properly.....until I found the oil cap loose in the engine bay and oil sprayed EVERYWHERE in my bay.....HOLY COW was I pissed. They refunded me my money, re-changed the oil, gave me a free oil change for the future, and "cleaned" my bay (which was a shit job). Grateful my engine dint blow, I drove away. 2) Yesterday, I go back in (2-3 months later) for my free oil change. Scheduled the appointment for noon, showed up at 11:45, and didn't leave the building with my vehicle until 2:15 pm. How long does it take to perform an oil change when it's not even busy? Far too long for me, that's for sure. 1/5 stars and never returning. End of story. read more

The sales and tech dept told me exactly what the issue was and that if it was them they wouldn't put the money into the veh as i plan to get a new one in 2016. I asked why and he said just because. The cashier was very rude and there was absolutely no effort to correct their error. He did not even try to get me a new appointment. Called the store to see if they had the tires I was looking for, and they did. Asked them if they had any open appointments and was told they were booked solid but would fit me in if I came down. My son and I arrived at the store and bought 4 tires. The sales rep, Corky, said he would give us a call when the care was ready. My son and I browsed the nearby mall for a couple of hours and we got a call the car was ready. Not only did they do a great job on the installation, Corky gave us a "Competitors Discount" and we got the tires for less than the price quoted. Nice people, good job, great price. The only reason they get 1 star is because the people who work there are pretty personable. I have two reasons I am not giving them more than 1 star: (1) they are super expensive; (2) I went in for an oil change sometime in mid-August 2016 and also asked them to check out a "whooshing" sound I heard coming from the back of my car. The sound was loud, and I told them it got louder as I drove faster. After waiting for 45 minutes, they told me the car was totally fine. They [allegedly] drove the car at 60 mph down the East Beltline and did not hear any loud "whooshing" noise. Fast forward to now, November 2016...I am in Cleveland and in need of an oil change. Without even mentioning a "whooshing" sound, the mechanics here called me within 30 minutes to tell me my back right wheel bearing was totally done, the worst damage they had ever seen. All they did was drive my car into their garage--a 50 foot pathway, nothing like the East Beltine--and they were able to diagnose the problem. A week longer, and I could have gotten into a terrible accident on the highway. This is something Firestone in Grand Rapids could have found when I specifically told them about the noise I heard. Now, I totally doubt whether they even truly drove my car to listen for the sound. The Firestone staff acted negligently, and I would never, ever go to them for any serious car issues again. read more

After waiting for a week for an appointment, I brought my car in for a oil change, brake inspection, fuel filter change and flat tire issues. It took over 3 hours for them to call me with their results. Oil and filter change done properly, I hope. They told me that I HAD to have a full brake job done immediately as my rotors and pads were both shot. They argued that I shouldn't take the car home that night that they needed to do the brakes the next day for liability issues. When I rejected the brake job they got huffy and told me to pick up the car before it closed. Luckily my son (a mechanic) was with me so I was able to pick up the car as they provided no aid in getting around. He checked the rotors and assured me they were perfect....no wear on them at all. I had a brake job scheduled with him prior to my appointment with Firestone. The next day, another flat. They did not deal with any of the tire issues they said they had addressed. No tire rotation or check on the leaky tire. I guess when I refused their expensive brake job they felt they didn't need to address MY idea of an urgent problem, my leaky tire. I know they didn't rotate them because the flat was in the same place....front passenger side. When I called them they said it would be another 2 weeks before they could get me in to address my tire...which was still under their warranty. They wouldn't even change my tire to my spare. I was lucky enough to have a portable air compressor but after filling it 3 days in a row in frigid temps it got old and had to go to a local garage to put on my spare. I brought the damaged tire to a different Firestone store and left it there for them to fix it. After two and a half weeks I now have my new tire on the car but no rotation yet as they were busy. read more
