I loved the ability to book I made a noon appointment on the website. I arrived to check in and the front desk guy said the could see me at 1pm because his techs are going on lunch. I explained I booked a noon appointment and indicated I would be waiting so I didn't have time to wait an extra hour sitting here. Very frustrating to drive to an appointment that they had no intention of keeping. Two things need to change: 1.) don't allow noon appointments if techs take lunch at noon. 2.) review your scheduled appointments every night and morning and call your customers to reschedule if your not able to keep your appointments. I'm a new customer and tried to keep an open mind and come back and do the service at 1pm. But there was no apologies, discount offered or anything to acknowledge this error. Just $145 for an oil change charged. The waiting room was nice and clean. Update to owners response: There was no attempt to reach out before hand. You should audit your records closer if the team told you that. I have no missed calls emails or texts asking to reschedule before I arrived. The only text I had was a confirmation for the noon time. Dykstra was an absolute LIFE SAVER for me. Picture it: I'm picking up my best friend from the Grand Rapid's airport at the start of my birthday weekend (six other people were also coming in). We make a Costco run, and then my battery light goes on. I call my mechanic in Chicago who tells me to get to a service station immediately. I call two places without any availability, and when I call Dykstra they said they would do their best to help. And did they ever! They got my car in right away and diagnosed the problem (my alternator). Their waiting room was peaceful, clean and quiet. We were even able to store the Costco perishables in their refrigerator! What could have been a horrific start to my birthday weekend (aka, dead car on the expressway in 90 degree heat) ended beautifully. I am so thankful for this experience! read more

This review is directly related to Joe, the owner of the business. DiMaggio's service center replaced all of our bearings in our travel trailer. They installed all four inner bearings with the wrong size. After 200 miles our wheels were about ready to fall off and all the bearings were destroyed. This was pure negligence by DiMaggio's service center. I contacted the owner and he refuses to take any responsibility and threatened to not refund us several times. Not apologetic at all about almost destroying our honeymoon. The new owner Joe is destroying what was an excellent business. read more

I, my friends in the community, and my family will never return to this place. They don't say upfront, but they charge over $50 just to check your vehicle if you take it there. How would you know without checking what is wrong with your vehicle? The estimated amount might not be the one you can afford right away. You may need some time to manage the money. They don't understand this. So before you take your vehicle, make ready this fees. There are many auto centers that can check your vehicle for free. Also, I fixed my car elsewhere, they charged me about 25% less than what this place estimated. read more

I am super surprised there are no reviews here. First of all let me just say, I don't know how I came across this awesome shop, but I'm glad I did! I've been going here for a few years for oil changes to blown out engines. Nick and the other guys there always do it right and well! They're up front about everything and give honest recommendations. I've never been up sold anything that wasn't necessary and they always kind of prepare for things to look for just in case. They always have a great price, timely, and for longer fixes, they usually have a free loaner car that I can borrow! They are a great facility locally owned. They have free coffee, water, and WiFi and even offer a shuttle service to the airport (I haven't had the need to use this feature). Overall it's definitely an A+ in my book. Now that I've moved to DC, I'm going to miss it but rest assured, they said I can always call them about estimates or concerns on my vehicle. Keep up the great work! read more

I've been using Dykstra's for eight years and have never been disappointed. Their service is fast and reliable. I love the way they explain what needs to be done and why in a way that an average person can understand. They have helped me many times to prioritize repairs so that I can budget and plan. They've always tried to provide me with a loaner when possible. A couple of times I've shopped around to see if the work could be done cheaper elsewhere and I've always found Dykstras at least few hundred dollars cheaper than the next quote. I'll start this review by admitting that I know nothing about cars. Unfortunately, Dykstra's absolutely took advantage of that. I had been to their Hudsonville location and had good experiences there, but I moved to GR and started going to their Byron Center location with much different results. I was about to drive across the country since I was moving to Seattle. My dad (already living in WA) was flying out to join me for this road trip and wanted me to get my Suburu Outback (2001) checked out to make sure it was ready for such a long trip. They told me that the car was in rough shape and needed a lot of work, but gave really vague reasons. I didn't know they were vague (since I don't know cars) until my dad flew out and looked at the paperwork, but that was after we had already signed and paid. I wish I could list out what they said they did, but I've lost the paperwork by now. They charged around $1000 for the "work" they did and told us it was still pretty risky whether or not the car would make it all the way to Seattle. My dad paid for the work over the phone while still in Seattle cause I told him I trusted these guys, but when he flew out, he realized we had been ripped off. When we checked under the hood, we saw that the air vent (I think that's what it was) had been crudely duct taped and we actually had to buy more duct tape from a gas station to fix the terrible job they had done. Additionally, two bolts had just been left on the engine block, we had no idea where they taken them from or why they hadn't bothered putting them back. Simple stuff had been overlooked for this long road trip, the air conditioning fluid was totally gone and they hadn't mentioned that the windshield wipers needed to be replaced (there were other problems, but that's all I remember). We had to stop at some random autoshop in Ohio just to fix that stuff. Thankfully the car made it all the way to Seattle in one piece. When we took it to a Suburu expert out there, they did about $700 worth of work and provided a very detailed list of everything they did. They said they couldn't even tell what Dykstra had actually done, but said the car would have easily been able to make the drive had Dykstra's actually done $1000 worth of work. I made the mistake of trusting Dykstra's and they absolutely took advantage of the fact that I didn't know anything about cars and that I was leaving town for good. Worst of all, I felt terrible about having my dad pay for my dumb mistake especially since he's a retired 70 year old Vietnam combat veteran. I'd pay him back if I could, but I'm still in school taking out student loans. These guys seem to have a lot of positive reviews, but that was not at all my personal experience. read more
