Just wanted to give a big shout out to Danny and his team. On the way home from Boston to DC, I slowly rolled to a stop in their parking lot with a transmission that was completely blown. While Firestone doesn't do transmissions, Danny was incredibly helpful and kind and helped me problem solve. He let me leave the car in the parking lot and helped get me a rental to get home to DC with. As I've always known, New Jerseyians have big hearts and he and his team showed theirs. read more

These guys do a half-assed job. In January of this year my mom had a break job done for about $500. in June she got in the car and the pedal went down to the floor. I checked the fluid and it was dry. Every brake job should include a visual inspection of the brake fluid for level and aging. when I called them, they said they would checked if they saw a problem. brake system failure due to low fluid is not gradual, it works until air gets in and then it doesn't. In any event, a visual check should be part of a brake job - it's part of a normal oil change at any of the quicky oil change places. I'm grateful this happened while parked. Never assume anything with these guys. their work is incomplete and not professional in dealing with customers. read more

He and His crew went over the car and gave me some recommendations. They didn't try to sell me crap I didn't need. My clunker was spruced up and i am very happy with the service received. Do NOT bring your vehicle here. I initially spoke with Mardy Martin (Manager of Tire Sales). He and I reviewed what my main reason was for bringing in my Toyota. I told Mr Martin that "I bought two tires from tirerack and want them balanced and mounted on the rear. I also have a slow leak in the driver side front tire that I need fixed. I think it might have a couple nails in it". Mr. Martin warned me that he would try his best to repair the driver side tire, but depending on where the nails are and how close in proximity the nails are to each other in the tire, the tire may not be salvageable. I let Mr. Martin know that I understood. I then asked Mr. Martin how much repairing the driver side tire would cost. Mr. Martin informed me that it would cost about thirty dollars to fix said tire. I asked him if he could just plug the tire; he responded by saying they do not believe in plugs as a long term solution there; they would only patch it. Because he took the time to explain the reason why a simple plug is not recommended and why a patch would be the solution, I consented to the patch-plug & balance with TPMS for $29.98. Mr. Martin printed out the work order for the install + flat repair; I signed it. The initial estimate with tax amounted to $75.34. I waited in the store's waiting area. After waiting about an hour, I noticed they had pulled my Toyota into the shop, lifted it, and had the tires off the car. It was at this point when someone I hadn't spoken with before approached me. I later learned through his business card that he is Daniel DeSio (Service Advisor). He updated me on the damage & prognosis of the driver side front tire, saying the nail is lodged in the sidewall. Because the nail damaged the sidewall, the tire can't be repaired. I understand the tire couldn't be repaired since the damage occurred to the sidewall. Since I was already replacing two tires, I decided I would just switch out this unrepairable tire with a tire from the rear. Basically, all they had to do was take the lug nuts off a rear tire and the driver side front tire, and put that rear tire in the driver side front position. From there, all the technician has to do is balance and mount two tires onto two wheels. However, Mr. DeSio then proceeded to tell me that my Toyota's "brake calipers are seizing up". Upon hearing this unexpected catastrophe that would potentially put my life at risk, I became extremely skeptical and suspicious of what Mr. DeSio was telling me. There were a few things that I noticed that made me suspicious of this employee: I had not spoken with Mr DeSio regarding my Toyota at any point, yet he was the employee informing me about my brakes. During our relatively brief conversation, Mr DeSio would leave in the middle of the conversation; he walked away to speak with the technician working on my Toyota....twice. The only employee I had spoken with, Mr Martin, was not present. Mr Martin appeared to have left the premises. When I was speaking with Mr Martin at the time of my arrival, a queue had formed behind me. And even though Mr DeSio was available to help customers, the customer behind me declined to be served by Mr DeSio, even when Mr DeSio asked him if he needed assistance. The customer stated he would instead wait for Mr Martin. After learning from Mr DeSio that my "brake calipers are seizing up", I asked Mr DeSio how much the repair for my brakes would cost me; I mentioned that I think the repair would be expensive. Mr DeSio stated "Oh, it's gonna be real expensive". Mr DeSio estimated it would be "one fifty for the pads, two fifty for rotors, five hundred for the calipers". The total for this brake repair amounted to $ 1,813.13. I am completely certain Mr DeSio intentionally chose to tell me I was facing a serious a brake caliper issue because he knows that would instill a sense of fear in me, prompting me to take whatever action necessary, and spend however much money required, to remedy the issue to keep my life safe. I told Mr DeSio I would just worry about the tires first. Mr DeSio is an unscrupulous, unethical, untrustworthy individual. Mr DeSio took advantage of his position as Service Advisor- that is associated with the expectation of experience and professionalism- to cheat and mislead me into paying for an unnecessary service and believing I need a high cost repair that would be lucrative for Firestone. I understand this gimmick and other similar tricks are habitually practiced throughout the auto repair industry. However, I specifically chose to bring my Toyota to Firestone [Store #13862] because I was confident (after reading yelp and google reviews) that I would not get ripped off. read more

Terrible service. I brought my car to change oil/filter and tire rotation. I am used to mark the tires to make sure they do the rotation so I do not end having issues with my tires overtime. When I checked at home, I noticed that they did not rotate the tires. I also open the hood to check the engine and found a ring inside the hood left there after they changed the filter. I went back to complain about these two issues and the only thing they were willing to do was to put the ring back but I do not have a way to confirm since it is not easy to check in my car. I would recommend if you go with this service, check that they actually do for the work they charge you. I will not come back. read more

Brought my aging car in for a noise and expected it to be one of two expensive parts based on a conversation with a friend. Please stay away from these dishonest and greedy people. 3 weeks ago early in the morning I stopped at this center because i had a nail in one of my tires. After waiting for an hour I was told by the technician the tire is beyond repair and he said a nail punctured the tire and that I needed a new tire. Also he said the the car needed alignment. I asked him to put the spare tire in and he took $20 for it. I went to Elizabeth and took the car to local tire shop and he fixed the tire in less than 15 mins with $10 and after checking all tires he said car did not need alignment. My instant saving that day were $600.00. Their business is a scam and should be avoided. read more

I'm sitting in a parking lot thinking about a day last month when one of my back tires got a flat tire. I called this place as I was not from the area and a nice man named danny answered the phone. I had AAA. They towed me there. When I got to the store danny helped me. I was in and out in an hour. I didn't feel like I was taken advantage of. It is a good feeling to know there are still honest businesses in the world and employees willing to help and not take advantage of someone in a no win situation. Thank you Firestone. 2 days to replace a tire??? Unjustifiably delayed service - Dropped the car in the morning for oil change and tire replacement @ 10 AM. Got a phone call with estimate @ 12:10, returned the call an hour later to proceed with the change. At 3 pm I was told that the tire will not be replaced because I did not return the call early enough.....I'd go somewhere else if I knew the work would not be complete in one day...On a positive side - polite and friendly customer service, cant say the same about the car service... read more

UGH! Had an appointment - I needed a new rim for my old car. Told the guy he could look at it and order the rim and I would come back another day to have it put on (they don't have rims in stock.) Hour later he finally got it on the lift where it sat for another 45 minutes before he come out and told me I did not need a rim I need new tires!!! $550. They had not yet taken the tire off the rim to check to see if it was bad. Knowing that I needed a rim I told him to just clean up the rim so I could get home. From the waiting area I saw the mechanic take the tire off the rim (FINALLY) and carry it back to the desk and tell the guy that I needed a new rim but the guy told him to just clean it up. When I went up to pay another 20 minutes later the guy at the desk did not mention what the mechanic said. I asked him if I needed.a new rim (just to see what he would say) and he said "hopefully the tire will hold air." So over two hours later my same old rim was back and I am hoping it hold on for a while. Dude just wanted to sell me tires..... UGH read more

Made an appointment for rotation of tires with a possibility of wheel alignment. After a test drive, i was told that a wheel alignment was not necessary. I told the salesperson that the car "felt" different and he said that if I had my tires "bumped" that would help. This add on increased my bill by about 30 dollars but being pressed for time rI figured ok. After the service i was told that my tires were feathered and I should get new tires (all four) and that I should get new brakes as well. I was given an estimate for the new tires and brakes. The "different" feeling was not improved only made a bit worse. Today my tire pressure gauge went on for the second time in three days so i stopped at Livingston tire. Shocked to find out that since I purchased the tires from them, they would have rotated them for free. He looked at my tires and said that my tires were fine and no where near needing replacement. So in short, I tried to save some money by using a promotion for a tire rotation only to find out in the long run, it cost me way more.
