I'm not super familiar with the LeBron James Foundation's work in Akron, but this space feels like a great gathering spot for the community.

I asked the cashier how much it was and she stated $17. I decided to look around the Farmers Market first and get the Tote on my way out. I came back and got the Tote, it rang up at $18 this time with tax and asked if I wanted to add a tip. I said No and continued my purchase. When I got home, I looked at the receipt and saw not only was the Tote a dollar more, but a $3.60 tip was added after I said No. I like the Tote but I do not like being ripped off.

A late September wedding and it was really chilly on the water, but the views are quite lovely. The holiday event was really nice and drew a large crowd. We didn't wait to see Santa, but we did enjoy some cookies and punch and we also got to spend time with the sweet animals there for the nativity. There were some school choir performances that we heard a little bit of. I will say that both times I've been here, the bathrooms were either closed off or very hard to find. Where are they? Does anyone know? No one had an answer either time I was there. So as long as you don't have to go potty, it is a great event venue. They also had a couple food trucks there during the recent event and the chili was really good. They had some interesting baked potato options too. My son and I enjoyed visiting the Tudor House and I thought the December event was well orchestrated.

Not being very familiar with the Portage Lakes area, I had no idea what to expect. It's tucked away in a residential area, so not some places you would stumble across unless you knew it was there. I thought my GPS was leading me astray as I pulled up to the cul-de-sac out front, before seeing the signs. It was an outdoor event so I didn't get the full experience of touring the inside of the house, but I can't say enough good things about the yard, the views, the setup, the food. The house/mansion backs up to the lake and the view is spectacular. There's ample parking but the overflow lot is a bit of a walk. My only criticism would be that the drive leading up to the house is very dark and narrow so it could use more lighting for night time events. This is an awesome place for an outdoor wedding if you're willing to chance the weather in northeast Ohio!

My mom is impossible to shop for, so I was super excited when I came across this Mother's Day special on the Akron Glass Works Facebook page. It is a beautiful old church converted into and art space right off of the University of Akron campus. There were about 12 people total with two instructors for the group. They gave a demonstration and then thoroughly went over all the steps with an emphasis on safety. I was a little nervous working with molten hot glass, but the professionalism of the instructors set me at ease. They're by your side the whole time... but you're actually creating the piece yourself. I have been to other glass blowing studios where the instructors are so hands-on, that you feel like you took no part in the entire process. Not this place. I definitely felt like I was making something and they were just there to make sure I didn't burn my hand off. The whole process took less than an hour and our pieces were available for pickup the next day. We each got to make two glass flowers which all turned out beautifully. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something different to do! We had such a great time!

Also the brown paper covering them kind of detracted from the display. I would recommend steaming the tablecloths. And find a better way to protect the tables other than paper.

I found the Diamond Match Party Center from some google searches, and I'm so thankful I did! Jan made this whole event painless, easy, and elegant. She went above and beyond to color coordinate our event and set up the space perfectly for our needs before we even arrived. We adored the decor and the decorating she has selected for this unique and interesting historic space. Everything about the service and venue we received greatly exceeded our expectations, and made what could have been a difficult endeavor, a pleasant and wonderful collection of memories. My coworkers and I went to the Akron Top Golf on a hot, Thursday afternoon. I've never been to this…read morelocation but it is TINY! I didn't know Top Golf's could be constructed this small! It was like 98 degrees out and I think that more ways to keep everyone cool would have been great. The heat definitely kept us from trying any of their popular (and high calorie!!!!) hot food items! It had been a couple years since I last went to a Top Golf so my score was in the toilet, unsurprisingly, but it was still a fun experience! Our cold drinks came out quickly too. I would also like to recommend more cold items and some healthier options too. Personally, I'd recommend the Independence location over this one if you're the one paying as you'll have a better experience there.

It was more expensive, lost its charm and since it was already set up as something else, it wasn't renovated to match the actual Top Golf setup. The colored targets were different, smaller, and they don't light up! It also didn't used to be so crowded, but after its conversion, we couldn't even get a walk in slot on a weekday.
