Sleepy Hollow Golf Club is located at the Brecksville Reservation. The golf club is Cleveland Metroparks' owned. It has long history in the city starting from 1924. Back then it was a private country club later opening to public play in 1963. My review is not so much of the golf but of the winter activities taking place at this facility. In the winter this golf course offers a vast territory for skiing. CLUB: The club is simple inside with event space, the Valley View Room. The space features a bar, tables, chairs and a projector. It is rentable. It's a blank canvas room with one open space and neutral colors. Signage at the club indicated that 2026 Bonus Rounds have $35 annual fee. This included specials like discounts on green fees, advanced tee time, entree item discounts at Golf Concessions, and more. That seemed like a deal to a non-golfer like myself. In season, Metroparks offer different golf clinics to sharpen your skills. The trail has helpful indicators regarding whether it is open or closed. Ski rentals do not seem to be offered at this location. WINTER ACTIVITIES: The golf course transforms into winter activity central in the winter. Locals utilize the golf course for skiing, snow shoeing, and hiking. Based on the number of visitors on a frigid, icy winter night, it's a popular destination. You can easily look up trail conditions online and see if the trail is open during designated hours. Introduction to Cross-Country Skiing is offered at this location and hosted by Metroparks. They call it "Nordic style." The class is only $10 that includes ski rental. The class begins at the clubhouse with overview of skiing styles and equipment purchase tips. The class commences despite weather meaning it is indoor and outdoor. If there is not enough snow, the class practices inside. My class had the opportunity to practice outside which was so fun! I haven't been skiing in over 30 years so skill refresh was a great idea. There were various options for skiing - a trail and a small hill. I had so much fun reliving my favorite winter activity. SERVICE: Metroparks staff and volunteers were very friendly! The overview of skiing equipment was especially helpful. They provided specialized care to some of the participants who were less talented in skiing (myself included). I felt very engaged in the program and loved interacting with staff. I really that every student in that class felt personal attention. I really enjoyed winter program at Sleepy Hollow. It's great to see park visitors enjoy this space even in winter. If you're looking to venture out and try something new during off-season, try the classes at Sleepy Hollow. I'll be back in the spring to golf! read more

The course it self was good, but the ranger was very rude and stole my ball right in front of my group, then continued to say they didn't see it. Also keep pushing us forward saying we were "bottle necking" as a group of 20. Also rushing through the turn while we were waiting on food that wasn't made yet. My experience was horrible and I won't come back again!!! read more

Went here for a work outing and was blown away by not only the course but the staff. Might of been one of friendliest golf courses I've been too. I am very sorry if I'm getting your name wrong but i think it was Michael in the pro shop? Top tier guy. Awesome man! Tough course though. If you're new to golf, be prepared to to lose a few balls. But leave the bad vibes in the car and bring a few chill pills. 10/10 Recommend and will definitely try to come back. read more

Me and a buddy went to the course today for 18. It was raining today so not many people were out. Whoever the starter was today around 2:30pm was extremely rude to us and insinuated we weren't supposed to be golfing and asked us to see our receipts. He was extremely rude when questioning us about our tee time and my name on the reservation. He berated us about going out in the rain and said "well if you don't play them all, we get to keep all your money." Man did not have to be rude and it was not an inviting atmosphere to be in as it was our first times there. The course itself was very nice but the starter was beyond rude and should get a new job. He even came onto the course to yell at us because our cart skidded on the course which we were not trying to do, as it was very wet out from the rain. He said we can't be doing that and then as he came across the hole stated "look at me look at me I'm not skidding am I." We obviously did not mean to do that and man was being very rude. We were there to golf and he made it seem like a huge inconvenience. read more

Where do I start....... First employee we encountered must hate his job because he treated us like children. I am 34 years of age yet he was still barking rules. One of my fellow golf mates was forced to rent a set of clubs because of the unspoken rule that you can't play out of another players bag. After he payed to rent the clubs the same employee then told us that after the first hole, he could not care less if my friend played out of my bag. And $4 for a white claw? No thanks, you will see me at Briarwood slapping absolute bombs without an employee down my neck. read more

Sleepy Hollow is a mean, vindictive golf course. It was designed by somebody in the 1920s who understood what bad golf was and made a course that punishes every bad shot. No mercy. And the place is always crowded so plenty of people will see you screw up. It is a beautiful course and the people running it have their act together. The course is always in good shape. It is owned by the MetroParks and their rates are low compared to the quality of the course. These three considerations mean that it is always crowded (because it's beautiful and cheap) and it is always slow (because it is crowded and takes eight strokes to reach the green on a par five) so a round of golf will take you awhile. There's a green on this golf course that is so severe that a person like me can easily have four or five putts and the second putt is longer than the first and the third is from the fringe. You hit the putt, it stops and then rolls back toward you, picking up speed, so you have to get out of its way. Your buddy is laughing at you. Until he does the same. I won't tell you which hole. Many snobs like to be seen here because of the B-Ville location. They think they are in the 1960's with bag rats serving cocktails at noon. We like to be humiliated here a few times per season, but it is not our favorite haunt unless they could conjure a Headless Horseman to travel around the greens and scare the balls into their designated cups. read more

Sleepy Hollow is a beautiful and well-maintained Cleveland Metroparks course in Brecksville offering, by far, the most challenging greens in the limited number of courses I've played thus far. Especially on a hot day, with the heat reflecting off the greens, its far too tempting to try to read the green quickly and think its a straight-away putt. But...it's never straight-away.... Prime, early-morning tee times seemed pretty tough to secure. I ended up going in the late morning on a Sunday and was surprised by the generous spacing between groups and the relatively quick pace of play. (With its reputation, I fully expected a traffic jam.) On the negatives, particularly on a hot day, it would have been nice to see more water coolers rather than drinking fountains serving up warm water. Also, I really disliked the layout of one of the last couple of holes, essentially hitting the ball up the long side of a very ditch-like valley. Finally, humorously enough, we had a cart on the front nine with a bad motor that we ended up needing to push-start a couple of times. Had no problem switching carts at the turn, though. read more

This course is very close to home and I love coming out to play here. As a college student, the course is a little pricey for me at $16/ 9-holes on a weekday, but for the quality of the well-cut fairways, manicured greens, and overall play it's the best around. Trying to walk on for a tee-time can get the rangers pretty testy, so I suggest reserving a tee time as early as a week ahead, because many golfers rush out to this course when Ohio gets an unexpected (or any, for that matter) sunny days. It gets crowded during the weekend and is generally more expensive, so a weekday for an outing here is best. Great course overall, and enjoy the beautiful Metroparks scenery and wildlife! You usually have a hawk squawking from a distance, and if you're lucky like I have been, you'll see them up close and personal perched on the trees of the back-9 tee boxes. read more

Played last Wednesday and even though the course was stressed due to a large amount of rain the course was in very good shape. The entire experience from the cart guys to the guy making sandwiches was as good as I can recollect and I've been fortunate enough to play all 3 courses on the Monterey peninsula including Pebble Beach. The course is challenging but very fair. I would rate Sleepy Hollow as one of the best tests of golf I have ever played !!! I've also played Mana Kiki recently and both courses are a great testimonial to the MetroParks system.. I'll be taking a group back and if you enjoy great golf courses make sure you call them for a tee time and a great day of golf!!!! read more

The best value in Cleveland golf. The course is varied, interesting, and well-kept. Thoughtfully designed, this course will reward good golf and punish bad golf. Pace of play keeps this review at 4 stars, but the course is worth the highest rating. Fear it if you are not able to hit straight or have an off day. And keep it below the hole! read more

Difficult course any day of the year. Great condition given it's public. I won't give it five stars due to pace of play, I've spent six hours finishing 18 - that's to long for most people. Still a must play in greater Cleveland and worth the trek from the West Side. read more

Sleepy Hollow is one of the nicest golf couses that you will find in this part of Ohio. There are a lot of other great courses in Northeast Ohio as well, but Sleepy Hollow is a course that is truly something special. To play on the actual course you need to reserve a tee time, you need to dress appropriatly for a golf course (no T-shirts!!!), and you need to be a relatively good golfer, as it is a very challenging course. Unfortunatly, many of the golfers that play here are exceptionally good and therefore think it is ok to be rude to people who are not good golfers or play at a slower pace. The staff are pretty much just as rude, and the clubhouse is also not the best around either. Back to a positive note; One thing that I particularly enjoy is the driving range, which is very large, has nice mats, and good range balls at a decent price. The practice putting greens are also very nice too. Overall, if a less-than-spectacular clubhouse, relatively high prices, and rude customers and employees don't bother you, then this is the place to go. If you like golf and love to play on beautiful and well-maintained courses that offer plenty of challenges, then the other minor issues with Sleepy Hollow are practically microscopic in comparison to the excellent experience that you get from the course itself. read more

My groomsmen went through a lot of trouble to book us a spot at this beautiful course for my bachelor party. The place was very well kept and the front staff were polite. However, upon reaching the very first hole, an older attendant made it VERY clear he did not want us there. 5 minutes upon arriving: "You have 15 minutes a hole... you need to start moving" 8 minutes upon arriving: "This course seems too advanced for you" (keep in mind we have 7+ people split into groups) 10 minutes upon arriving: "We're going to have to ask you to leave." Literally booted out before any of our guys could made it onto the green. All the while in between the old man followed us heckling the swings and equipment of my groomsmen. I was shocked as to how unprofessional and rude we were treated because we weren't their standard clientele. ESPECIALLY after how expensive it is. Unless you are a conservative white male, 60 y/o or above, I would suggest skipping this place all together. Particularly if you are looking to have any fun what-so-ever. read more
