The building "Castle Esque" motif with large stately interior, echoing a time gone by. The staff friendly and accommodating. Our dinner was as Scottish should be elegantly simple. After dinner a sunset stroll past the cattle slowly grazing on the front grounds and neighboring hounds freely wandering and greeting guests. Our room was simple offering a warm home style. I could have sat in one of the upholstered arm chairs in the bright sunlight and typed what I'm typing now. Probably with a wee bit more wonder and romance woven in me wording. The hotel situated on stunning open grounds, which is a just mere slice of stately land that it once beheld. Stories of celebrity and dignitary were impressive. My favorite, Charlie Chaplain would spend quiet summers here away from celebrity fanfare. If you're a lucky guest to have his own room, you'll only know by seeing his Bowler hung on a peg in the room.

The property is a beautiful stone Victorian house well and detailed kept outside and inside. The rooms and the Breakfast areas are very warm and cozy, spotless clean. The owners, Kenneth and Graham make you feel welcome at anytime and at home. They have always, a courteous, smiley, positive helpful and professional attitude. The breakfast are deliciously made with fresh ingredients that make you feel ready to enjoy the day! I definitely will come back and I recommend it! Way to go Kenneth and Graham!! As Scots say: 'Slainte Mhath' instead of the English 'Cheers'.

I wouldn't recommend staying the night but I would recommend a reservation for dinner here just to have the experience. The negative: I felt like the price wasn't worth the stay. The pool was not open. The salon and spa were not operating during our stay either. These were some things I was looking forward to. I made the mistake of assuming and not asking because they are featured amenities when booking the hotel. There were also a few little things amiss. For example: trash behind the bed, the handle bar for the shower bar was missing a gasket and kept falling, the trash can in the bathroom was broken, the room was really hot (they did have a fan). Just a lot of small things that add up. The positive: The breakfast, dessert, and drinks we had here were delicious! The bar is pretty well stocked. I have a dairy allergy and my waiter and the cook took care to make sure there were no cross contamination's. The area around the mansion is gorgeous. This is a great place to take some fun pictures! Overall we did enjoy our stay. The staff was lovely. They do all leave for the night which is something to note. The place just needs more love and care.

Our room was charming, the bed incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was one of the nicest we had during our whole 3 week trip to the UK. Breakfast was delicious as well! The interior of the mansion is beautiful, but clearly is in need of some care. For example, we noticed an incredibly large rip in the felt on the pool table, there were a few spots where we noticed wear and tear on the walls, and our bedspread had a few spots where either someone burned it or it just wore through. We chose not to have dinner at the mansion because even though the menu at the restaurant looked amazing, it was VERY expensive. I'm very happy we chose to stay at the Mansion, and hope to visit again - it just needs a tiny facelift to be perfect!

Pretty much regulars here now when me and the Man come up here…read more 1) I love the poached eggs with bacon on muffins for breakfast OR 2) the full scottish if I'm feeling rather peckish! 3) The Back cabins are my first choice - no creeky floor boards and a really spacious bathroom. The Staff are super friendly and helpful. if you need help they are more or less easy to get hold of. The back cabins are nice and private. Pretty cosy too. The house is decorated with stunning photographs and artwork of wildlife - always something new that destracts me! It's good value for money and I will be back soon too - oooh it's pretty close walking distance to shops etc!

We've just returned from our second stay for two nights and enjoyed it as much, if not more, than our first! Our first stay was in one of the chalets at the back of the property which are probably a little more spacious than one of the front bedrooms we stayed in this time around, but never-the-less, both rooms and en-suites are stylishly decorated, very comfortable, well equipped and very clean. The plus to staying in a room (No.5) at the front of the house is that you get a wonderful view of the Cairngorm Mountains a real treat as the sun sets and also again when you open the blinds first thing in the morning! Beds are not as firm as we'd prefer (personal preference I'm sure many like a slightly softer mattress would have no problem at all), but still comfortable and the bedlinen is good quality which all goes a long way towards a very good night's sleep and a restful stay. Breakfast offers a wide choice great range of cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad, white & wholemeal toast and Jonathan's homemade marmelade try it, it's truly delicious! We also tried the delicious (and none greasy) full traditional Scottish breakfast (with plenty of flexibility to accomodate all diets and tastes!), Poached eggs (eggs not laid by the chickens in the outside pen, but we were confidently assured were local & free range) and smoked salmon on muffins (a lovely, tasty way to start the day!), alternatively the homemade porridge with berry fruit compote, seeds, honey or plain is also a real treat and will certainly set you up for a day's exploring and activity! The lounge with it's open fire (lit in the colder months), cosy rugs, antique style furniture, plus welcoming resident cat Milly(!), make for a great place to relax and chill out either after breakfast or after a day's skiing, hiking or cycling! Overall a very welcoming place to stay in a charming traditional style house which is very restful and relaxing with delicious breakfasts. You couldn't wish for anymore from a B&B!

Our rooms were warm, comfortable and inviting. We came back everyday after our adventurers to find them cleaned and freshened. Every morning, our gracious hostess prepared us the most fabulous breakfasts, more food than we could possibly eat. Everything was perfect from the beautiful table settings, warm dining room down to the last tea and biscuit. We were also happy to realize that we could not hear other guests as they moved through the house. The house was very quiet, yet we all met in the common areas and had a delightful time. Our hostess, Hazel was so delightful. I do not believe I have ever met a person so happy and eager to make you feel good. That was so refreshing and made us feel like we were home. I looked forward to seeing her bubbly smile each morning. The location was perfect. We were right in walking distance to everything. My husband and own a b&b in the America, we were so delighted to stay in one that treats their guests the way we try to treat ours, like family. We feel we have made a home away from home. A group of 10 of us stayed here over the weekend for a bit of serenity ("How's the serenity? So…read moremuch serenity!") and just a break from Glasgow. The house looked beautiful on the website and it was even nicer in person - how often does that happen?! A huge kitchen and lounge area with a fireplace (it wasn't cold enough to use), a deck with a beautiful timber table and a hot tub which overlooked the river and a comfortable "snug" area to watch TV - this place was total bliss. Everything, and more, was provided. The cupboards were fully stocked with spices etc, there was towels provided for every guest and the place was really homely in a welcoming way. There was also a trampoline and ping pong table, plus an outdoor garden lodge. With 3 bathrooms and 4 toilets, there was plenty of space for everyone, as well as 6 bedrooms sleeping 11 people. It was close to the shops (about a 10 minute walk) as well as being a nice area for a walk around, I can't recommend this place any more highly. Absolutely perfect.

Excellent place who go well above and beyond for service. Had a mix up with taxis and their SafeCab…read moreapp and they called and got it squared away in minutes. We left early for planned events a couple times and they brought breakfast to our room at 6am and wanted to at 3am when we left for the airport. Had a bad day so they gave us a couple flasks of whiskey. The area is historic and beautiful. They warned us that while Uber shows it was there, they are not and they charge, then never show up. The only thing I could say was a little disappointing was no AC so we kept the windows opened as it was cool enough and they advertised a small fridge but they had none. Lastly, we prepaid for breakfast but if you wanted something other than a Scottish breakfast, you had to pay for it like waffles or pancakes. Other than that, a perfect stay.
