Project: Water Heater Installation Alex was professional, arrived on time, extremely experienced and polite. He was scheduled for a repair on various items relating to gas. After the diagnosis, he made a few recommendations ... not an upsale but a requirement due to the age of the unit. Ultimately, a new water heater was installed plus other items. The project was completed in a timely manner. They cleaned up nice and hauled away everything. After a few months, the inspector reported the water heater was manufactured in 2005 and hence, out of warranty. I contacted Alex and he responded. It turned out the inspector made an error which resulted with incorrect information. The unit was manufactured in 2025. This goes to show you Alex will not ghost you after the work was installed and invoice was fully paid. He will help you with whatever you need after the work has been done and paid for. I rarely get to write a review of a business that is this good. We had a leak in our water supply line between the water meter and our house. I called First Aid Plumbing at 1:00 pm and told them my problem. Alex introduced himself and said that there would be someone here in less than an hour. The plumber arrived in about half an hour and looked at my problem. Basically, the whole underground PVC pipe from the meter to my house was failing. A large pine tree, now over 40 years old, had roots that were destroying the water line. He gave me what I considered a very reasonable price (less than I expected!) to replace the line with modern PEX. 6 hours later, the job was finished. The trench that was required was neatly covered and the sod replaced on it. Further, the crew was great. I watched some of their work and they carefully explained everything that they were doing. I have had other plumbers do repairs here. Before they finished their work, I was thinking "just get it done and get out of here". I didn't at all feel that way with First Aid. They were GREAT! I've used Alex for multiple jobs at my business. He has always been very competitively priced and done a great job- he finishes everything out and cleans up very well. I've had plumbers in the past who don't caulk or seal up work under the sink and he does. I had a recurring problem at my house where we only had hot water-no cold. I've had multiple plumbers out. Had a great experience with Alex and First Aid Plumbing. Checked around for plumbers to do a hydrostatic test and Alex was the first to respond. He was very thorough in explaining the work, offered a couple options to do the test, and quoted a fair price. Once we agreed to go ahead, he kept me updated with text and photos of the work in progress and he got the job done quickly that same day. The hydrostatic test is not something that every plumber can do (one other plumber couldn't do it and another didn't respond and a third was wishy washy about it) so I felt Alex was one of the more experienced plumbers in the area. Do not use First Aid Plumbing. We have a Rinnai tankless water heater. It has been fine for ten years but started beeping and showing an error code for a leak after Hurricane Beryl. We called First Aid Plumbing and the technician came out and said it was not repairable and we would need a new $5300 water heater. It would be more, he warned, if we needed a new vent through the roof on a newer model. We got a second opinion from Hot Water Guys and what a difference. In minutes, the HWG technician diagnosed that some water had blown into the roof vent in the storm and caused a temporary error code. There was no evidence of a tank leak or ruined heater. But the First Aid tech had disconnected the unit so even when it dried out, it still wouldn't work and we'd need to call him back. For a $165 visit, the HWG technician reconnected the unit, restarted it and it works just fine. He was even able to accommodate doing the annual maintenance flush same day. From sterling friendly dispatch service to honest, timely and effective repairs, I recommend Hot Water Guys heartily. Stay away from First Aid. We were nearly taken for $5300. It is especially unconscionable as, like so many Houstonians now, we are dealing with hurricane damage and price gouging companies like First Aid make the whole community worse for their predatory behavior. read more
