I loveeee this place. They have such a great selection of health foods, skin care and body products, and prepared foods. The produce is so fresh and everything here is high quality. They have a large bulk section as well. Lots of yummy things. I got a scone and coffee for less than 5$. The coffee was great and they even have Yerba mate and nitro on tap. Prices are not outrageous for being a health foods store. Employees are very friendly. Seating inside too if you want to get the hot bar and eat there. Would recommend coming here if you're looking for specialty health items or jsut high quality food. read more

I like the co-op. It's all quality products and the local products I like. The staff is friendly enough but there are some that really go above and beyond. Their hot food is usually nice and I especially enjoy the soups and baked goods. However, they don't really have much of a seating area anymore so it's all to go which I don't like as much. The main downside for me is the cost, but for the quality it's worth it. read more

Great place to buy wonderful food, wine and other fun products. The staff have always been friendly and helpful when I go in.

We went on our first shopping trip here today and we found a lot more than we were looking for. Friendly staff roam the aisles with a purpose, two of which answered my questions so politely. From out of town, wanted to find a local co op and was blown away by this store. I was impressed BEFORE I found the lower level with the wines and bulk foods and gifts. I will be going back later this weekend to do all of my Christmas shopping. Every person was smiling and helpful. I love this store! I live in the neighborhood and it's so nice to shop at a store that supports our community the way they do. I haven't met a single employee who wasn't happy, friendly, and above all HELPFUL! This is truly a great place to shop local and support small businesses in a neighborhood store. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the prices are just a little high sometimes and I'm not a very wealthy person. read more

Limited/small number of items compared to Safeway or Market of Choice (an expensive place). Items tend to be priced higher than Safeway.

Love the vegan cheeses and salami. The whole store is a delight to hang out in. Love it. Thanks for a great natural foods store.

One of the driving factors of moving to Corvallis; we needed a town w/ excellent grocery options. They stock a great selection of local produce, and a well curated grocery section. The back of the store hosts an amazing bulk section (to include to wheat berry grinders), and a well appreciated hot and salad bar. Truly, one of my favorite grocery stores. read more

Tried to use a coupon for a free 12oz coffee and they don't honor it, say it's for hot coffee only (coupon DOES NOT specify that) and said they only started serving cold coffee recently, like that's my goddamn problem. Coffee already poured, just left it at the checkout counter, gone to waste because they can't give a college student a free small coffee just because of the temperature of it. And not like I went and just tried to get a free coffee, also checked out a half pound of salad for $11 freaking dollars, give me a goddamn break, co-op. Should be renamed po-op. read more

I have been a vegetarian for over 10 years, but in January I decided to give up dairy and eggs as well. On a hunt for some new staples, I finally ventured into the co-op after living here for over 2 years. I was pleasantly surprised. I expected astronomical prices...don't get me wrong, quality food is not meant to be cheap...but especially when items are marked on sale, I can get what I need without applying for a 2nd mortgage. Plus, if you become a member, the 10% off once a month is great. I also love the food bar, baked goods, and tasting nights. It is a nice spot to go work every once and awhile and enjoy a cider while I do it. The vegan sour cream muffins are the best!!! read more

We were visiting from out of town so I have to preface this review by saying I only visited this place once, but I was very impressed and pleased. The produce was fresh and included interesting varieties like rattlesnake green beans. I got a chocolate cake that looked beautiful and was sooooooo delicious as well as scones and muffins that were also great. I also loved that they sterilize containers for use in the bulk dept. I've never seen this anywhere before. It makes so much sense and great they are willing to go to the effort to provide this. The staff was very friendly and eager to please. Great store! read more

I've been shopping here for various items on and off since I moved here. I like their availability of bulk items and local beer & wine. I was disappointed to see that they have no local berries. Oregon is filled with berries this time of year and I am incredibly disappointed to see that all the berries in the co-op are from California. I was a big fan of the co-op but, I now have doubts about their commitment to local produce. read more

A little smaller than I expected, but had a great selection of everything we were looking for. It was pretty awesome seeing how many local farms and companies they support, and with reasonable prices to boot. Most were either equal or less than Fred Meyer or Safeway. Love this store, it has some amazing groceries inside but I rarely go shopping there since its kind of out of my way from where I live. I just recently went inside and bought Corvallis honey to help with my allergies ... The staff is very friendly and semi-expensive, but I've heard if you get a membership, it is pretty reasonable. read more

If you want to live sustainably, this is the place. Prices are a bit high but to me it's worth it. Their whole wheat pizza dough is absolutely wonderful, as is their salad bar and selection of bulk foods. Sometimes produce looks a bit rough, but that's often the way it is with organics I guess. read more

Great bulk section, my boyfriend and I have been trying to live (mostly) waste free and their bulk section has everything we could need to make this work. From chips to tofu to nutritional yeast and even tea we are able to find almost everything we need to live waste free. read more

Marvelous food cooperative. Everyone is welcome here and you literally see everyone represented. It doesn't matter if you've just rolled into town or if it's you've been a long time resident. Walk through the doors and it's your neighborhood store. Great salad bar/deli/hot bar/bakery case with wifi. Huge selection of cheese. Insanely fresh produce. My favorite stop for groceries. True, some things are more expensive than Freddy's or Winco, but it's worth that money to invest in local businesses and to get high quality produce. This store never disappoints. I love to get my bulk dried lentils, chickpeas, and granola from here. Their produce is delicious and they have an amazing selection of cheeses and bulk house products. They also have a stamp card if you go there without a car. It's nice to jog there with a backpack and pick up some groceries. read more

I stop there every time I go to Corvallis to have lunch at the deli section. Much better then most of local restaurants! Made with healthy ingredients, lots of vegetables, few great choices of meat too and they don't hesitate to use seasoning. Every meal is extremely tasty. I like the selection of other merchandise too. It's the only place in the area I've seen bamboo hair brushes and stainless steel baby bottles. read more

I primarily shop at co-ops and natural food stores but this one disappoints me every time. I love the concept of food co-ops but First Alternative doesn't have the same community feel that others exhibit. The main disappointment is the pricing, which is far more extreme than other stores. Again, I am used to paying more for quality food but First Alt has priced their items a bit too high. However, if you don't mind paying at least an extra dollar for all of your food, this is a business to support. I will continue to go to Life Source in Salem for my shopping. Their staff is wonderful and they don't price gouge. read more

These guys go above and beyond to make sure their customers are taken care of! I have several food allergies including dairy, gluten, corn, and beans. I had been sick this past week and too tired to try and cook for myself. I went to MOC because they are so close to my house but once again was disappointed that they put all of the above in all of their prepared soups, somebody is a fan of heavy cream there... Anyways, I called the north Co -Op and asked what they had available within the boundaries of my dietary restrictions, and Zack in the deli took the time to check all the soup inventory they had as well as kindly read off all ingredients. He was totally nice and patient with all of my questions. They had something I could eat! It was such a blessing! I felt so sick and he even poured the soup in containers for me and told me to feel better! I felt like they actually cared at First alternative Co-op! Thank you so much!! read more
