After providing my information and explaining that I hold a credit card with Wells Fargo, I was placed on a lengthy hold. Ultimately, I was told the branch could not accommodate this simple currency exchange because I do not have a traditional banking account with them. The teller claimed that without a checking or savings account, they had no way to ensure the cash count would be accurate. This explanation is entirely illogical for a major financial institution. Despite offering to provide multiple forms of identification and explaining the necessity of the exchange, I was denied assistance. As a current credit card holder who regularly receives solicitations from Wells Fargo for mortgages and checking accounts, I am deeply disappointed by this lack of basic customer courtesy. I will be canceling my credit card immediately and taking my business elsewhere. If a bank cannot reliably count and exchange physical currency, they should not be in business.
