This was allegedly to purchase the accounting software needed. All of this was through Indeed. Wells Fargo suspected the check was fraudulent! They are looking into it now. Said this is a fairly common wayto embezzle funds and leave the prospective employee holding the bag. So glad Wells Fargo caught this, otherwise my family member would have been liable and possibly in legal trouble, for the amount of the check. Both the teller and the supervisor were very polite and never treated my relative as though they were doing something nefarious. I appreciate very much the way the incident was handled.

Ultimately, I was told the branch could not accommodate this simple currency exchange because I do not have a traditional banking account with them. The teller claimed that without a checking or savings account, they had no way to ensure the cash count would be accurate. This explanation is entirely illogical for a major financial institution. Despite offering to provide multiple forms of identification and explaining the necessity of the exchange, I was denied assistance. As a current credit card holder who regularly receives solicitations from Wells Fargo for mortgages and checking accounts, I am deeply disappointed by this lack of basic customer courtesy. I will be canceling my credit card immediately and taking my business elsewhere. If a bank cannot reliably count and exchange physical currency, they should not be in business.

And the only score they're willing to work with is Experian. We could not open a joint account because my wife had no Experian score. They wouldn't accept Transunion or Equifax. So we wasted a good hour trying to apply before walking away. Their lack of trust is pretty sick. We took our money elsewhere.
