If you have a home emergency I would definitely recommend choosing another restoration company. I've had 2 different projects done. One was at my rental property, the second at my primary residence. When a new tenant moved into the rental property we found many things that weren't done correctly, some that cost me a large amount of money. Thank goodness there was a new project manager, who corrected many of the problems caused for the last project manager. There was a huge amount of leaking when my tenant took a bath. It caused water damage in both adjacent bathrooms. The master bath floor was to be taken down to the studs in the insurer payment. It wasn't. When the hall bathroom flooded, the workmen found asbestos that has been covered by layers of tile. My question was if the adjacent bathroom floor had been removed to the studs, wouldn't asbestos have been found there too? The Project Manager admitted Yes. Asbestos was then found. The company covered the asbestos removal in that one bathroom but not the other. If they had done the work correctly the first time they would have known both bathroom floors were the same. Then the source of the tub leak had to be found. The plumbing under the house wasn't going to the city's connection. More big bucks for me. The new project manager did correct some issues that the now no longer employed Project Manager didn't correct. He couldn't believe that he actually took the new toilet I ha recently replaced & replaced it with a cheap one. I saw it & said "Where is my toilet?" The next day what I thought was my toilet has been returned,. But when I tried it the lid wasn't solid like the one I had recently bought. My theory was that he was running his own business on the side & skimming from First Atlantic & its customers When I had a pipe break at my primary residence I panicked & called First Atlantic. To my chagrin they assigned that same Project Manager. On hindsight I should have requested someone else. I later learned that he was sub contracting work to companies not used by First Atlantic. They had to remove the tile from my master bathroom floor to mitigate the water damage. It was obviously not done correctly. A few years ago I had my front door removed. The stud it was connected to, which was directly under the worst of the water leak, was so rotten that it crumbled into pieces. The tile company didn't shield the bathroom correctly while they ground away the inches of hard insulating material under the tile. My vanity, closet & bedroom were coated with the residue. I had to throw many things away. When the cleaners he hired were asked about cleaning the area they indicated their instructions were to clean a path from the VA bathroom and down the front staircase . I later learned that First Atlantic has their own cleaning crew that would never have said that. I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that even with personnel changes, I would never hire this company again. read more

Charged almost $60,000 for cleanup for a tiny almost fire. Mostly a little soot. The company they hired to deal with the contents took so long, a month and half, and did such a poor job that my mother does't use her art area anymore as everything was put back in a haphazard fashion. As a result of the high price my senior parents have now been denied further insurance coverage. read more

Beware!!! First Atlantic has played around with my house for 20 weeks and I never got any walls put up in my house!!! I was courted after my house fire. The representative Gary was so nice, he promised I could make changes to my home as long as it fit within the insurance allotted reimbursement costs. WRONG!!! Once transferred to the worker who was to manage my house everything went downhill. Brian the project manager was cold and curt. When I asked for an explanation of how I would select the items to be put in my home, I was put off. He selected windows without conversation. When I said I didn't want them, he told me he ordered them, they were custom, and it was my problem to have them returned. It took almost 12 weeks for them to start demo and they had the permits. Everything was removed salvageable things. All of the character of my home was stripped. Brian had no empathy for the tragic situation I was in and was rude and condescending. It was difficult to work with him. After 20 weeks they had only; changed the roof, gutted the house, and sprayed it with spray shellac and wanted to charge 80K. So.... my house burned down, he was there immediately, his office was right down the street, and I needed the house boarded up, tarped etc. after the firemen left. So I signed the waiver so First Atlantic could get started. (Yes, I was in a fog, which way was up... ? I couldn't tell you). When devastation happens, you are lost. I am so grateful that Bill was there! The initial board up, etc, was just the beginning and I was not looking forward to what followed, however, Bill was right there every step of the way. He helped me with my insurance and gave me the low down on what needed to be done, who needed to be contacted, what my next steps would be. The guys from the company were there in record time and my house was safe and secure (people tend to steal things and profit over other people's misfortune .. just a side note, if you have patio furniture outside, secure it, it will be gone... taken by the miscreants that have no soul). I'm sorry, I digress, all of the workers were all super friendly and ALL apologetic as soon as they arrived. It really is nice to hear sorry for your loss, when essence they profit from it, but when you hear the genuine "damn that sucks" and "man, that is horrible", they make you feel human and not some BS "sorry". They are all awesomesauce! I cannot express the level of professionalism by every single person I encountered from this company. It really pulled a heavy weight off of my shoulders, which in a time of crisis, that is EXACTLY what you need. Unfortunately, since I was a renter, I didn't have much say in what was to be done with the house, but Bill still basically held my hand thru the entire process. He was the first to say "I'm sorry for your loss", the first to help me get emotionally stable trying to figure out what is going on, and the first to just "be there". He was always a phone call or text away and he always answered! Bill made the entire process fairly easy ( I say fairly because this is not an easy thing to deal with). upon completion of job(?) I gave 1st Atlantic Restoration a rave review so the workers could get a bonus. NOTE TO SELF: Never give a review until a little time has passed. I overlooked a lot of mistakes, I accepted apologies for mistakes they made. I agreed to short-cuts all to make life easier for my father-in-law that is 95 yrs. old. why my change of heart? They replaced the door between kitchen and dining rm. How could a company that has which is experienced in home restoration replace a right-hand door with a Left-hand door??? The door swung into middle of room hitting dining table and covered up dimmer switch that is located to left of door. Soon after they were gone I simply had to remove the door because it was in the way. Now I got two doors in the garages leaning against wall shelf along with all the other scraps of wood trim and full pieces of molding they never bothered to take with them. They asked me to accept not putting ceramic tile trim pieces and I agreed. those also were left behind, now many are broken. I could talk about being lied to by manager when I requested supplied wrench for garbage disposal, or how they installed faucet in kitchen activated by touchless feature, but left no paperwork behind on how to service, adjust, or maintain or change batteries. I could talk about installing recepticle in cabinet above microwave and leaving a pile of wood scraps, wires and sawdust and drywall pieces and dust. toilet paper holder in bathroom (that I went out and bought at Home Depot.) This company seemed like they would be a "dream" for my very big water damage claim in 2 story home from 2nd flr laundry room...instead they turned out to be a nightmare! They took my deductible on day 1 which was fine and what my agent said to do. They recommended 1800 Packout to handle the Packout of whole house, brought fans and dehumidifiers 2 days after I filed the claim. Joe, the water mit foreman? Was very nice and professional. It's the next part.... shawn gray was the supervisor of job I guess. We were coming up on Christmas and myself nor the insurance had an estimate for the work or Packout so we asked how they felt about us going to Padgett for 2 weeks for Christmas and New Years and return on the 2nd. Sean Gray said that he actually "agreed about us going out of town bc after looking at timing it wasnt adding up bc of holidays." Amber at Packout said it was totally fine and most of her customers were doing same thing. Shawn gray was here on thursday the 17th and turned off fans still there but left dehumidifiers on bc the drain tube was still slam full constantly on both. He asked if anyone called about picking up equipment and I said no.he asked me this 2 weeks before as well.... so we had fans and dehumidifiers running in our house from 11/23 to 12/17, then just dehumidifiers.We left sat 12/19/20.good thing I thought to unplug the fans that he had turned off bc when we got back 1/2 night at 630pm after long long day we got to panic bc water was pouring out of ceiling in various spots again. Not 1 huge time like first incident...smaller amounts in various places. We wiped it all up and put buckets down. Called, messaged and emailed our supervisor shawn gray. No response... at 830pm at 1am at 515am and 9am I was awakened by sound of water hitting out real wood floors again. We thought it was water stuck in ceiling somehow....finally sunday afternoon we went in old laundryroom that was completely empty including floor tile they ripped up; except for 1 of their huge dehumidifiers. I remember the train tube from it used to come from it to our guest bathroom sink and was stuck in hole and taped with blue tape to hold it. He had moved it without even mentioning to us back to the laundry room washer drain tube where the incident started...not a big deal IF he had told us so we knew to look in there for an issue when we got home and saw the water and IF he had secured it in ANY way at all. No hook no tape nothing. It was just laying in there and I guess everytime it purged it would shoot water out and work out a little more each time and came out entirely sometime during the 14 days we were gone.so it was purging water on subfloor and coming thru ceiling every 4 or so hours for anywhere from 2 to 16 days....he finally text me monday and said he would try to get someone out that day. I was at dr and just got home and next thing I know there were 2 workers there looking at damage. We actually had to dump water out of the fans to plug back in and turn on to face back at ceiling, floors and now recliner leather chair, foot stool and couches. We already moved and secured drain when we found it so they checked it and took pics of subfloor in laundry room.my insurance said that the Packout scheduled for the 6th was way overpriced and they shouldnt start until its approved bc I already explained I had no addtl $ for stuff not covered.i told first atlantic and Packout this and told them that the repair part was missing door dividers, all contents I had sent them list and corresponding picture in order of, many common stuff like carpet padding to go with new carpet, had rooms misnamed and full closets and rooms just missing. The measurements were very very wrong and they had pre manufactured flooring down instead of the oak floors we have. I didnt even freak...I said is this just to start and u guys add stuff later? Is that how insurance works bc this is new to me and they got rude. Shawn gray scheduled a time of noon on tues to have a phone call with me and explain it and go over plans. He didnt call bor answered when I text and called him after 1pm. Thursday morning my doorbell rings and they cone on and start grabbing all fans and dehumidifiers. Left sticky from tape on floors and everything where they piled it. I called my agent chantel and she was the one who told me just then that the night before her and shawn were talking and he decided to back out of project. I asked why and she said bc of the long list of contents I wrote and gave him and bc he did not think that he would be able to make me happy no matter what??? Huh? What in the world was he talking about....? He is the one who stood in my dining room and told me to write all contents that could be damaged even if I didnt know yet down as damaged bc "more is better than not enough."next I called him and he beat around with no definitive answers except he would not stay on. On March 3rd 2020, during the installation of the hurricane shutters, friction from the drill caused the fire at my house. A sales man from the First Atlantic must have some sort of connections with the local police/fire department, he came by our house to drop off information about this company. During our first meeting, his knowledge and conviction about the quality of work and dedication this company has to offer, we decided on using them for the restoration. First couple of months went really well, including the communications between us, which is very important to me, clean up and pack out of all our belongings, then everything stopped because of the problems with the 3rd party insurance company not wanting to pay out until the completion of the job, and who wants to do the job not getting paid until the end, I can understand where both parties are coming from. We ended up contacting our home owners insurance and started the process which took another 2-3 months. We ended up paying First Atlantic $27,000 out of pocket to make sure things will start to happen. This past Few months, there has been no communication except for when it came to the money part, project manager isn't returning our numerous calls. Our house is just sitting there all gutted out for the past 6 months without any end in sight. No one seems to care or in any sense of urgency when it comes to my house. I know this company has really good reviews from others who may not have gone through hiccups like ours when it came down to money, although everything has been authorized and money has been issued from the insurance company, I still don't know when these people will start the reconstruction. I am beyond frustrated, can't believe this is the company people say they are and nothing like the company I was told in the beginning of this whole nightmare. Do not let these people in your house!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you do, take pictures before and after. I came home to a living hell. My house covered in dust. My kitchen sink, dishes, and appliances were covered in white (I'm assuming paint) specks. They had used my detergent which was covered in white whatever it was and there were wet paper towels (my paper towels) in my garbage. The bottom line is after I spent all night cleaning this mess Bobbie Coogins argued with me that I did not clean the mess (she came the next day after I had cleaned their mess and purchased plastic to cover my belongings from dust) and that the mess I spent all night cleaning did not exist. She told me it was my own old dust. I have never been so insulted before in my life. They also left paint in my skylight and more dust. She's will come by to check it out. I'm sure that she will say that was there also. I did not protect myself with before and after pictures. I did not take pictures of the mess before I cleaned it. If you deal with these people...please protect yourself with pictures. They are untrustworthy people and Bobbie Coogins is a rude nasty person who did not witness anyone placing plastic or "containing" the dust in the work area but spoke to me (the witness and cleaner of the devastation) as if I had concocted the story in my mind. read more

During a storm, 65' of my fence blew down - into the neighbors yard. 7:30 in the morning - a cold, windy and rainy morning, I called and left a message. Chip called me back promptly, said he would have it taken care of. Mike and Rick showed up - were extremely polite and went right to work. Horrible experience. I wasnt going to write a review, but their horrible work is the gift that keeps on giving The PM was always mad/angry looking, I had multiple people comment to me about his disposition. I had a water damage claim, my floors and crawlspace were effected. My insurance adjuster didn't go under my house, but he put in his quote for them to remove wet/damaged insulation and replace. Well I mentioned the chance of mold/fungus and he said yes, tell them to look and if there is any it will be covered and we will send another check. Fast forward to the day they took it all out i mentioned the mold/fungus and the PM told me there was none. Well, 6 months after i put my house up for sale...guess the fungus ONLY in the water damage area just appeared? The water damage was reported beginning of June, their removal of insulation was end of September. So it wasn't right away, plenty of time for tge fungus to be visable. Plus i had pictures i had taken. Their negligence now has me spending $700 to fix something they should have in the first place. That was only ONE ISSUE...nothing they did was easy or flawless. I had insurance pay for sandless hardwood finish bc that 8s what my family required. Insurance agreedand paid for it, but the contractor didnt do it, yet kept the additional $ it costs to do so. My new cabinet isnt even the same color as the rest of my cabinets. My floor had to be stained several times due to a crap job so now the stain is different colors in different places. I read these reviews and thought things would go great, BOY was I wrong!!! These reveiws must be friends and family or a different location...NEVER AGAIN. read more

This company is the absolute worst. They make your disaster and suffering greater than you can ever imagine. I had a bathroom leak, and before they were hired they promised the job would take 5 days and made all these promises and once they demolished the bathroom completely and took the job that's when they became lazy liars. They wouldn't show up some days, they wouldn't even call, they came unprepared to your home with no protection booties for your floor, or plastic for your carpet. I would have to provide them my own personal protection wear. They would put other big companies before my easy job such as ODU major leak. After they discarded my bathroom items they came up with excuses that it would take weeks for them to find a match. Which is an outrageous lie because the simple sink and fixtures are easily available at your local Home Depo or Lowes store. I just feel awful that we didn't pick a better company to do the job. It's a small little bathroom that has now turned into a month ordeal. The company is very aware that my little condo has only 1 bathroom and they are making it clear that they could care less about fixing my bathroom in a timely matter. Therefore, this pathetic company has left me without a bathroom. Their website testimonials are staff members reviews so don't believe the falsified hype that they are a good company, because truth be told they are a nightmare on top of your nightmare. If your an average person with any damage and not a big major company please don't hire First Atlantic Restorations they will take your money and take their time, and as soon a major company calls them all their workers will suddenly disappear for weeks and pretend like they are ordering a tub or sink when they are really delaying the matter to go work on another work site. Highly, HIGHLY recommend! We needed an estimate on our home for a FEMA appeal after our home was flooded by Hurricane Matthew. Since it was an appeal, we had a 14 day time frame to submit the estimate from a contractor or we would automatically be denied any assistance. Originally we had called Servpro and although they had sent out someone to do all the measurements, they gave us the run around and never gave us the estimate we were originally promised. Luckily for us, we found First Atlantic Restoration and although we were down to the last day before our estimate was due, they bent over backwards to help us out. Both Amber in the office and Troy who performed our estimate were the gold standard of what customer service should be! We are extremely grateful that this wonderful company was willing to clean up someone else's mess as without their help we would have been stranded and been automatically denied help without a further glance.
