    Baseboard left undone

In June 2020, I was referred to Contractor Connection for a homeowner's claim from State Farm Insurance after the washing machine hose broke and flooded my downstairs area. Contractor Connection referred me to a company by the name of Superior Contracting Service, Inc at 214 Pennsylvania Ave, Virginia Beach VA. I had previously received a quote from Duane with ServPro, who provided EXCELLENT SERVICE (and I cannot stress to you how excellent he & his crew are); however, ServPro wasn't listed as a preferred provider with Contractor Connection so I went with Superior Contracting in order to have the 5-year work guarantee. My mistake! Let me first say that I would be wary of Contractor Connection's referrals because neither they nor State Farm will be there to resolve any conflicts or issues, should any arise. Secondly, the name is pretty ironic because there is nothing SUPERIOR about the service that you'll receive from Superior Contracting Service. The project supervisor, Derek Lambert, will assure you that they can do the work; however, I'm not sure how he ever knows if the job is complete or if quality work has been performed because he doesn't come to inspect the work after his workers. I had to send him an email with pictures of the incomplete work in order for him to resend his workers back to finish. For example, a worker left a section of baseboard out in the laundry area. When I asked why the water heater was being installed and the baseboard was not finished, an employee advised that it would not be noticeable since it was hidden behind the water heater. This same employee drained the hot water heater on my front porch and allowed the rust water to go under my vehicle and remain in my driveway. Needless to say, I notified Derek and sent pictures, and he sent someone to pressure wash my entire driveway. Unfortunately, it is now near the end of February 2021, and I am still waiting for some smaller work to be completed. As a side note: Be wary of any repair company that charges a fee to use a credit card (at least you could dispute the bill if you paid with a credit card). Also, go with a company that does not make you pay HALF up front like Superior Contracting Services does because that locks you in with that company since you've already given up your hard-earned money. I guess that they don't mind waiting for the other half of the payment though - since I'm still waiting for the rest of the work to be done! My recommendation: Duane with SERVPRO 757-431-1400 will get the work done to your satisfaction! Learn from my mistake and go with a company that is going to perform the work to YOUR satisfaction!!

This is our roof after they claim to have "repaired" it. They are still expecting us to pay for their faulty repair.

If you have a home emergency I would definitely recommend choosing another restoration company…read more I've had 2 different projects done. One was at my rental property, the second at my primary residence. When a new tenant moved into the rental property we found many things that weren't done correctly, some that cost me a large amount of money. Thank goodness there was a new project manager, who corrected many of the problems caused for the last project manager. There was a huge amount of leaking when my tenant took a bath. It caused water damage in both adjacent bathrooms. The master bath floor was to be taken down to the studs in the insurer payment. It wasn't. When the hall bathroom flooded, the workmen found asbestos that has been covered by layers of tile. My question was if the adjacent bathroom floor had been removed to the studs, wouldn't asbestos have been found there too? The Project Manager admitted Yes. Asbestos was then found. The company covered the asbestos removal in that one bathroom but not the other. If they had done the work correctly the first time they would have known both bathroom floors were the same. Then the source of the tub leak had to be found. The plumbing under the house wasn't going to the city's connection. More big bucks for me. The new project manager did correct some issues that the now no longer employed Project Manager didn't correct. He couldn't believe that he actually took the new toilet I ha recently replaced & replaced it with a cheap one. I saw it & said "Where is my toilet?" The next day what I thought was my toilet has been returned,. But when I tried it the lid wasn't solid like the one I had recently bought. My theory was that he was running his own business on the side & skimming from First Atlantic & its customers When I had a pipe break at my primary residence I panicked & called First Atlantic. To my chagrin they assigned that same Project Manager. On hindsight I should have requested someone else. I later learned that he was sub contracting work to companies not used by First Atlantic. They had to remove the tile from my master bathroom floor to mitigate the water damage. It was obviously not done correctly. A few years ago I had my front door removed. The stud it was connected to, which was directly under the worst of the water leak, was so rotten that it crumbled into pieces. The tile company didn't shield the bathroom correctly while they ground away the inches of hard insulating material under the tile. My vanity, closet & bedroom were coated with the residue. I had to throw many things away. When the cleaners he hired were asked about cleaning the area they indicated their instructions were to clean a path from the VA bathroom and down the front staircase . I later learned that First Atlantic has their own cleaning crew that would never have said that. I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that even with personnel changes, I would never hire this company again.

Drywall was removed and replaced quickly. The finish job looks better than the original. Matched…read morepaint very well. Definitely would hire them again. Great job done by Eric!

Hank is a real piece of work... August 2023…read moreTried to bill me for work that wasn't done I asked for an adjusted bill for only the work that was done I never received an itemized adjustment I followed up multiple times 8 months later... Sent my "debt" to a debt collection company with, I guess, the proper amount? It was still more than it should've been and I was charged interest. Oh, and they don't actually "restore" anything; they just ripped everything out and put some machines in to take care of potential water damage. To top it all off... Hank did the work before discussing pricing with me. I really felt like I was taken advantage of, never had anything like this happen before and Hank took the opportunity and ran with it. I suggest reading the other reviews before considering hiring them; not worth the value at all.

This is not an honest company. I had posted a review about how HANK MILlER and 911 restoration…read moreviolated my Home and my relationship with my fiance on Google review but he was some how able to have it removed. He may do the same for Yelp too. However I will post it again. This time short and to the point. Husbands, please do not allow you wives, girlfriends or fiance's to stay home alone or conduct business in your absence. HANK MILlER is a manipulator and a cheater. (1). HANK MILLER tricked my fiance into paying him $3000.00 for what was only $1500.00 worth of work and further tried to convince her to fraudulently reachout to the homeowners insurance company for more money. (2) HANK MILlER and his co_partner RON assured me that the work would have been completed in 2 days tops but dishonesty in my absence tricked my naive fiance at the time into giving them $1000.00 up front and signing a contract that stated they had 30 days to complete the job for which they actually took 2 weeks while my home was exposed to the elements. They did not treat the walls for mold as they were paid to do. (3). 911 RESTORATION (HANK MILlER ) takes your money and sub contracts the work out so you have several different people running in and out of your home as was done with us. This is not something that they mention to you at first. You just learn the hard way like we did. We are actually missing SEVERAL personal tools and buckets. YES THINGS WERE STOLEN. The bad part about this was the fact that the sub contractors were asking me for payment when HANK MILLER had already received full payment. This is when we really realized that the company was fraudulent and dishonest. (4). HANK MILLER attempted to have the dry wall subcontractor cover up water damage and rotten wood in the frame work of our house when he was infact paid money to remove, replace and repair by my fiance. He tried to have it done while I was at work but it just so happened that I returned home early and was able to catch wind of the dishonesty of HANK MILlER and 911 restoration. They actually attempted to take advantage of my fiance by saying that the repairs was done to ORIGINAL FINISH. Total dishonesty. This is not the business to choose for your repairs. I can't seem to understand how they were able to get all of the bad reviews that were there last week removed. I can assure you that the current reviewers are not all actually customers especially when HANK MILlER had previously given himself 2 5star ratings in an attempt to boost the reviews. This company is about fraud, trickery and dishonesty so go ahead and retain them at your own risk. Just don't say that you weren't given a well advanced heads up about what to expect. If you are Rich white folks then you are in luck as you probably will receive VIP treatment. But as for us middleclass BLACK customers, HANK MILlER and the 911 Restoration Company exposed their hands and what they are about. There are several other honest companies out there. Make another choice.
