I put my daughter in this school after covid because I felt that the curriculum would help keep her on track. She has always struggled academically, so I felt that a small class at a private school would be the answer. I couldn't have been more wrong. This school is run by a family. The owners son in law is the pastor/principal/head teacher. He was not supportive of my daughter. He gave little direction in her studies which left her feeling defeated and upset. I would email asking how I could support at home and I would receive little direction. Aside from academics, there were a couple of kids in the class that my daughter did not get along with. It was a mutual disruption. For some reason, the teacher had my daughter sitting next to one of these kids in class which caused issues. We had a parent teacher conference and I had my daughters therapist on the line who suggested to the teacher that moving my daughter away from the other child could be beneficial and he wouldn't do it. Finally after emailing him about this 3 times, he moved my daughter. No matter what we suggested, there was a reason or an excuse for him not to do it. A few weeks later, I got a call from the teacher who said that my daughter is no longer welcome at their school because she hit another child. He didn't give me any other details aside from that. Later I found out that she hit one of the teachers kids who is also in the class. The reason she hit this kid is because he put his hands on her first. I'd also like to note that this boy has continuously picked on my daughter, and from what I've heard from other parents, picks on other kids as well (I've heard of him hitting and even kicking other kids). When I texted the teacher about this, he refused to acknowledge that it was his son. This school isn't run professionally. Their main substitute teacher is another pastor who also seems to mainly do hand work around the school. I've asked for teaching credentials and never got a response. Overall, I had a feeling of dread every time I had to see the teacher/pastor/principal. He made me feel that my daughter was a problem. Never once did I feel that I had true compassion and support from him, which is what you would expect from a pastor. He would say things to her to berate her. For example, when a new kid started and befriended my child, he told the other girl in front of my daughter to not let my daughter be a bad influence. He would also pick on her and embarrass her in class then when we had parent teacher meetings he would say that she lied about everything. I felt like I was losing my mind. We are now in a real school and the support has been amazing for us. She said that there are no bullies and her teacher is helpful. Her teacher today even commented to me that she has been a great influence on one of her classmates who has been struggling to keep up with work. My heart has been heavy for so long and the minute we left this school, that weight was lifted. I wish I pulled her out sooner. Also- the owner (the teachers father in law) made a racist comment in front of the entire school during the holiday performance. It was a line from a movie, but still, totally inappropriate to say in front of students and their families. read more

My girls, now 10 and 12, have been going to Accelerated Academy for three years and have loved the large campus and sport court for play, the art facilities, the professional music instruction, and the close friendships they've made. They don't always enjoy the school work, especially math and English because it's hard. But I, however, love the fact that they have corrected the six step Common Core bad habits they had previously learned in public school. They calculate faster and understand better now. Since Covid-19 hit, because they could learn at their own pace, they excelled at home, gaining more than half a semester. They can't wait to go back on campus. The school sign says they will be open 5 days a week and have 6 foot distancing. My kids have received good moral development and achieve high marks in Latin. Don't be fooled. If a kid struggles with math when they go back to public school, blame Common Core. The teachers here are patient and proficient. read more

My grandkids absolutely love this school! They are always telling us about the Bible stories and the cool things they have learned. It is so cute to hear them pray for others. We loved attending the Christmas program! read more

My boys have been there for 2 years. We started there because of all the crazy covid stuff going on in public schools. It has been a great decision. Both boys love going to school. For me it was important to have my kids in a Christian environment where they can learn and talk about God and get a great education. I think they get both here and would highly recommend. read more

How this school has not been on our radar before this year is beyond me. It is an absolute GEM and our children thrive here. They focus on character and don't just 'talk the talk' but also walk the walk. The principles of family, faith, and character are what is so needed today, and it is taught in ways that are subtle, yet meaningful. The pride in their work after the day and the things they share with us is beyond anything I could have wished for in my kids as people, and academically. They do not teach to the masses, but instead tailor to your child and where they are in their education journey. We have an older daughter at a large christian high school, and this school would have been exactly what we wanted for her to prepare for that. Education is huge for us, along with faith and family, and our kids are not getting lost in worksheets, but rather challenged exactly where they are in their own journey and are growing in their faith. They also focus on self-accountability, a lost art with kids today. They believe in work, hard work, and taking accountability for your actions. My experience was the same as Annette B's We weren't kicked out of the school, I left voluntarily because I was unhappy with the education my 1st grader was receiving. I tried asking for help. I was alarmed that she wasn't being pushed hard enough, I saw her struggling with math and asked for help, but got none. The math sheets with all of her errors just stopped coming home. This year in public school in second grade, her teacher point blank told me "it's like she didn't do any math at all last yea!r"..she's so behind she's had to be put in special classes and like the previous poster, had to get additonal tutoring. I'm sad about it, and feel horribly guilty as her parent. I should have fought harder for her and pulled her out sooner rather than waste that whole year at FBAA. I loved some of the staff, there are some wonderfully good hearted people here. they helped my daughter with a horrible medical issue she was dealing with and I will forever be grateful for that. But sadly, I can't say the same about the Administration, I never felt that they cared about us at all. In fact, I know they didn't. It rocked my faith for a bit, but I'm glad to say that my faith remains strong, despite all I saw and heard. read more

We have been at First Baptist Accelerated Academy for over a year now. We have been so happy with our experience. I am a public school teacher and was very hesitant to place my kids in another school where I'm not on campus. The school staff and classroom teacher have been more than welcoming and accommodating. They made arrangements for early childcare, provided water bottles (on days when they were left at home), reached out via text or email with regular communication (and the occasional adorable pic), they even called me directly when my kids were having emotional problems. They love and care for my kiddos as if they were part of the family. We have reached out for concerns throughout the year and the staff followed up immediately and handled everything in the most honorable way. Although my kids don't love waking up and getting going in the morning, they love this school and their teacher- Miss Natalie! They look forward to music class with Pastor Enoch and the super fun field trips. We are amazed by the customized (my kids are high in math and low with reading- they catered to their levels) education and patience at this school. Truthfully, we were not planning on staying for more than a year but the genuine sincerity from each and every person there has truly made us absolutely love this school. read more

My daughter started FBAA when she was three years old, all the way until she was 8 because their children ministry cut off age is 7, I decided to look for another church that has an extended children's ministry. We were kicked out of church and my daughter was no longer allowed to attend school their. HEART-BREAKING!! We had no choice but to try public school and according to the my daughter is way behind, here I thought all along that she was an accelerated student and I was told she was doing great. My daughter now needs tutoring just to be on the same track as the other children. I have met with other parents whose children no longer attend there as well and they are in the same boat. If I were you I would re-think and really examine the curriculum, because when I took it to the district, they asked me what was my child doing there all day.
