Run, don't walk away from this place. They go by several names (1st Choice, Adapt Health, AeroCare, others.) It is nearly impossible to reach a human by phone. The first consultant I spoke to gave me a phone number and told me to call her there or leave a message for her if I had any questions. When I called the number, they had no clue who she was and it was clear I was not connected to a local business. I naively signed up for "auto pay" and now I get billed for things that are not explained. (I am not alleging these charges are bogus, but I just don't know for sure.) I've tried reaching someone to figure it out. After many attempts, the best I have been able to do is reach a call center, most likely located outside of the U.S. If they were a good company to work with, they would make it easy for customers to reach them and they would clearly itemize charges. HORRIBLE and SHAMEFUL service. Have been trying to get them to call me back for weeks. Every day multiple times a day we call leaving messages to get a call back that they promise in the order it was received. They have some horrible email address they read off really quickly to get you to try to order supplies from via email but that gets returned as not valid. They are a horrible company to get your equipment from...during Coved they had a policy where they picked up their oxygen tanks from outside your front door...they never gave any receipts or acknowledgements of drop offs or pickups...my last pickup was in March of last year when left the equipment and tanks on the porch...they picked up but didn't leave any type of receipt...they billed me from April - June...and sent me to a collection agency for equipment I no longer had or needed...they have billed Medicare for the equipment for later dates in the same year...they are not an honest company and their customer service sucks...They don't deserve the one star but couldn't submit w/o it...get any other company but this one... read more

Knee Scooter. Would rate lower if I could. -Sent in request 2 weeks ago without any communication. -They never submitted authorization to my insurance to start the process. Poor customer service, no returned called from rep to supervisor. This company lacks honesty. 1. lied about submitting claim when they didn't 2. lied about calling us after I faxed in script. I have made multiple attempts to get a simple knee scooter without success over a period of two weeks. It shouldn't be this hard but for these people the simple is too complex. I typically don't write reviews but First Choice In-Home Care's service is so bad I had to comment. Like many of the other reviews I have found they don't answer their phone or respond to emails. I called the billing department which answered and they got somebody to call me back. I sent a copy of my prescription as requested for CPAP resupplies. Nor response and would not answer phone or return calls when message was left. I am calling my insurance company to ask for another provider be assigned. read more

I had to surrender my ventilator that I wear at nighttime due to them saying I didn't have insurance when I did. And the lady Barbra kept interrupting me every time I went to speak saying you don't have insurance we need to pick up the machine you don't have insurance we need to pick up the machine [in her finest smoker voice]. So I was told I needed to come up with $5900 or forfeit the the machine, so not going anywhere and not being able to deal with the stress I forfeited the ventilator. 4 weeks go by and I get a call from a nicer understanding person from first choice explaining how I still owed the money and was now saying you're insurance was billed and paid I don't understand what happened or why this had happened. She then explained by me forfeiting the machine there is nothing they can do. So do not ever deal with this company or forfeit your equipment cause I'm paying for a machine I don't have and they are just going to clean it and resale it to someone else and their insurance company. When first choice first took over from my previous carrier, they were terrible. In every way. However, now in the last 6 months of my dealing with them they have done a complete turn around and are prompt, friendly and knowledgable. Hats off to them! read more

The WORST company in history. My doctor recommended me to come to this company in July! I didn't get anyone to answer the phone or return my voicemails. I couldn't get my appointment UNTIL November and that's because I just walked in. I was talked to Extremely Rude and I never felt so uncomfortable being talked at, but I didn't say anything because the god awful lady was pregnant. I was told I couldn't get my equipment until I gave my credit card and then they charge my card automatically without telling me.The tech that set me up had HOLES in her jeans!! What company allow such a dress code? How unprofessional can this place be?! STAY AWAY!! Management was no help because she just stared at me as if I was talking foreign language. This used to be Sentara home health. Sentara sold its home care business to first choice as of September 2016. I became a customer October 24 for a hospital grade breast pump. It's been over a week and I haven't got my equipment yet. First they ask for prescription so my Peds wrote one. They actually wanted a rx from my OB GYN which was understandable, so my GYN wrote one. First off, they had my name mis spelled so when my OB called to see what exactly they needed, they couldn't find me in their system. So I called them again and have them correct info. I've called them 6 days in a row trying to get update and I get the same thing for the first 3 days "we need a diagnosis" which my OB gave them that info over the phone and fax as well. On the 5th day I was told that someone will contact me asap. 6th day, the lady who's handling my case "left for the day". I've had it with this company! Breastfeeding is crucial stage in Babys life in the first few days and I'm trying everything on my end to meet it but this company has failed to pull their part in more than one occasion. The customer service is horrible, which I'm pretty sure if it was still Sentara, it wouldn't happen. If you can get your home care/health and durable medical equipment someplace else, do it. This is my first time dealing with this company and its a nightmare! read more

This company has to be the worst managed co. I have ever had to deal with. I have left 3 messages to follow up on an order that was sent to them for medical equipment my son needed yesterday! It was ordered 3weeks ago and no one can explain to me why I have not received a call back. I keep getting transferred to someone's desk that apparently does not return phone calls.. I had asked for this equipment to be delivered when there was a scheduled pick up at my house for a hospital bed, for some reason they could not make the delivery at the same time..? And when the guys showed up to pick up the hospital bed they tried to deliver me one! Thankfully they had enough room on their truck to still take it that day.. I wish I would have known how frustrating it was going to be dealing with this co. And had suggested to the doctor to write the orders to any other home care co. besides first choice.. I am just going to buy what else we need, forget about this poorly run DME co. and be satisfied by writing them the review they deserve. read more

Let me start by saying, this may finally get me a returned phone call yet from this company, if you will. It's a joke, no I want to drag this oxygen canister around my neck for posterity, thank you. Started last December, on this very day, a machine finally made it to me in late April. Those test filled out by drs, valid for 30 days. So I get the call, and notified it arrived, the 5th time it was processed. Then cpap, yes, dear ole cpap, if you do not use it 4 hours a day, it's not covered, but when it takes 4 weeks to get a call that's 150 miles each way, spent 15 minutes with it, off I go, no connection, a guy in a van drove to my house on my island to bring me a SIM card, got one in the mail ten minutes later, and since no registered use n the machine, I took the machine and both sim cards back to them. Stage 4 congestive heart failure, I had a lady there tell me it was mild apnea, no formal training, but apnea is apnea a heart attack is a heart attack. It went back after I had chest pain the previous day with this girl screaming into my ear, I get loopy bad in a regular day, after 6-7-8 hours awake, it's a slide then quick one at that read more
