When things go wrong, they go wrong in bunches. I have a water heater problem and called First Class Machanical for help because they were listed with the Rheem home page. Rheem was impossible to get in touch with. So when I called First Class Mechanical, I spoke with Nancy. She was so informative and helpful. She told me exactly who to call and how it works. I was really grateful for the help! Now I told you trouble came in bunches. As it turned out, my AC unit needed to be serviced. I asked Nancy if they can do that. She set up an appointment and sure enough, Luke from First Class came out and fixed the issue right away. The best part, their pricing was more than fair. First Class Mechanical installed my boiler in 2013 and it has been great. I recently had some heating issues only to later figure out that it was related to my new AC unit and my Nest thermostat not communicating properly. First Class has been taking care of all of my plumbing and HVAC needs for about 20 years. Most recently, I discovered that I had no water. First Class had a truck out in about two hours, and that first crew discovered that a part on my well head had broken and fallen into the well pipe. They arranged for a drilling company to come and retrieve the broken part in the well, then recovered and checked the pump. Withing 24 hours of my first call, they had my water pumping again and the total cost was about half of what I expected. We called them out for toilets clogging and instead of performing an unnecessary snaking procedure they recommended we update the equipment inside the toilets to get more water flow. A little over 1 year ago First Class Mechanical replaced my well pressure tank. The work was done well and on time. lt turned out the tank i was sold was defective and needed to be replaced. The tank was covered under a 7 year warranty so I was not charged for the tank. However, the 1 year labor warranty had expired. I expected to pay a reasonable fee for the labor. I was charged $550 for 1 hour of labor to replace the tank First Class originally sold me that was defective. I will not use First Mechanical again and will discourage others from using their service based on their fees. I was sold a defective piece of equipment and charged twice to install it. read more

Our well pump lost pressure this morning and to their credit, First Class Mechanical was able to come out on the same day and fix the problem. However, for less than an hour's work and no parts replaced (all they did was splice a broken wire), we were charged over $600. When I found out what my husband paid them, I felt sick. This is an outrageous price. It was a Saturday morning, not Christmas Day. The labor rate shouldn't be this high. I will make sure to avoid this company in the future. read more

The bathroom is being remodeled and I wanted the service to be performed as soon as possible. The staff was courteous and came to give me a quote, which I accepted. The soonest they could come was about a week later and although I needed it sooner, I understood so I agreed to wait. The construction came to a halt so we could wait for the plumbing work. They called to confirm the day prior, yet, the next day, about one hour prior to the appointment, they called to say they had a family emergency and could not come. Although I understand that family emergencies happen, this upsets me because I have the contractors lined up to continue the work that afternoon. I asked if they were sending someone else, or rescheduling to later in the day or even after-hours and their response is that I could schedule it to another date at least 10 days away! That is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! I inquired about a manager or superior stepping in to come in their place and the response was that they only supervise and would not be able to come in their place. So I'm supposed to just halt my construction for at least another 10 days because they don't have backups for their employees. This is a reflection of how badly this business is run. As a business owner, I jump in as a backup if one of my employees calls out. Leaving the client stranded after confirming the appointment is a terrible business practice. And if so, at the very least, send someone else later in the day or make every possible effort to make it right and prioritize the client's need, not push it 10 days out. That's just poor customer service. I can't review the actual plumbing work since we will not be using their services. As far as Nancy, the operator who got the brunt of my frustration, she was pleasant and professional. I paid 1200 dollars to have pipes redone under the kitchen sink. Having problems with the pipes again. New plumber said it was done incorrectly. Will have to spend another 1000 dollars to do over. New plumber said the pipe should have been a 2 inch instead of a 1 and a half. Whole system backing up and will cost me plenty to do over read more

First Class Mechanical, the company our home warranty company sent to our house, came out to replace our well pump. The technicians mentioned that our well water was notably dirty before leaving. That evening, when we turned on a faucet and flushed a toilet for the first time, we were shocked to see water that resembled mud and was the color of mustard coming out of all of our faucets and toilets. We did some quick research and decided to run a hose from where the well water enters our house to the backyard and run it for a few hours. I called First Class Mechanical Friday morning to ask if having muddy mustard colored water is normal after replacing a well. The lady who answered the phone called the technician and told me that he said we should call our water filtration company because our filtration system must be broken. Knowing that our filtration was working and we had clear water up until the moment our well pump was replaced, I made a call to our water filtration company and another well company. Both asked me if the well was flushed "over the top" after the well pump was replaced to get rid of all the silt/dirt that is typically stirred up with a well motor replacement. I observed most of the repair and I did not see anything that looked like flushing the well, and there was no water in the grass around the well, so I called First Class Mechanical back to ask. They had the technician call me back. I asked the technician if they did an over the top flush of our well before leaving. He said they did not. I asked if they normally do it. After some prompting, they said they usually do it for 15 minutes to 45 minutes. He reminded me that our well water was particularly dirty and it "probably wouldn't have made a difference." If our well water was particularly dirty, why wouldn't they have done a longer flush than normal, 45 minute to an hour, instead of skipping it all together? And more bothersome, if they chose not to flush it themselves, why didn't they tell me to run a hose from our basement where the water comes in to the backyard before leaving? And tell us not to plan on using any water for days? And tell us to expect mud to essentially come from our faucets and toilets? We did not have usable water for over a week and are still waiting for the other shoe to drop in terms of appliances that were filled with mud. Our warranty company had to pay to have a plumber come to our house for 8 hours and flush our water heater, all toilet tanks and any other appliances that use water. They also paid for our water filtration company to inspect our unit. Run, don't walk away from First Class Mechanical. Call someone else. Anyone else. They never called me or apologized for the chaos that resulted from their laziness. Definitely not first class, or even second or third class. read more

My water heater tank cracked one morning while I was standing in the kitchen. After shutting off the water I looked for a plumbing company in my area. I called First Class Mechanical to get an estimate for replacing the water heater. One of their first questions was to get the serial number of the unit so they could investigate if there was a current warranty on the unit. Since there was, they offered to handle all the warranty paperwork for both the old and new units. Their customer focus along with the reasonable price they quoted for the labor prodded me to award them the work. A crew was on site 3 hours later with the new unit and completed installation within 90 minutes. They also proactively replaced the inlet and outlet pipes to the heater to prevent future issues. Based on their customer service and pricing, I intend to prevail upon their services whenever a plumbing issue arises at my home. read more

Worst service ever. They did original installation of gas furnace on Tuesday 12/11/18 Total price was $2,789.00. Labor part $700.00. On invoice labor time was 4 hours for two technicians, total labor 8 hours, or $87.50 per hour, which is what normally charged per technician in hour. Pilot light stopped working few hours after installation. Now, Wednesday, 12/12/18 had to leave work at 10:30 am, to meet thire technicians. They left around 2 pm. Pilot light stopped working few hours after they left. On Thursday, 12/13/18 had to leave work at 11:30 am, technicians arrived at 1:30pm left at 6 pm with the same result. Friday, 12/14/18 technicians arrived at 8 am left at 3 pm. If job was done correctly in first place that would be the end of the story, although, total time lost by customer in three days thereafter was 17 hours, basically largest part of her work week was wasted. 3 days. Beside financial losses it added ocurrances to customer's job performance and most likely will negatively affect next evaluation and next raise. Now let's do the math. Customers time should be valued less then rate that they are charging for their technicians. $87.50x17=$1,487.50. All I asked them was--$700.00 for original labor charges. All of the above makes sense and we are being pretty reasonable in this matter. Although, company refused to communicate after that. I have no problem contacting attorney general consumer affairs division or better business burau, but this matter has to be resolved. I had a SCHEDULED appointment with First Class Mechanical to come fix my waterheater last Friday afternoon. They never showed up. THEN, to make matters worse, when I called they said they would charge me an extra $150 to come out the next day as it was a weekend, even though THEY canceled the appointment (after I took off work to be there). The receptionist was RUDE and said there was nothing she could do, as if the prospect of sending someone out the next day WITHOUT charging me the extra $150 was something she was physically unable to do! The good news was that I immediately called Schaefer Mechanical and they sent somebody right out and fixed the water heater. I would recommend Schaefer to anyone! read more

They were sent to my home to replace my furnace. They took out stone and brick from under the furnace that support duct work. 1 month later I had a rodent infestation from the removal and improper installation of the new furnace. I called them and was told we can't help you. I had to send emails to the owners. They finally came back out, put red silicone around the furnace base. Then they discovered they forgot to install a filter. They cut out my intake duct and installed a filter and left. Days later the furnace kept sucking in the filter. I called them back, they sent out the same tech and he supported the filter but I still to this day have rodent problems. They will not fix it properly because the furnace must be removed to do so. I've been living like this for 2 years now and being disabled I can't fix it myself. This was the worst decision I ever made. read more
