I guess I am old fashion but I don't care about large, fancy banks. I want that personal touch like always making me feel like an old friend they had not seen in a while. They remember things about my family and ask about how my daughters are doing. When I have had any questions, I call and actually get a live person that will help me right away. I want the staff at this bank to know they always made a difference in my day by wearing smiles and treating me with caring and kindness.

Unfortunately, this also means that EVERYTHING is based around their technology. i rarely go into the branch anymore, and when i do, no one knows me (they switch staff a lot as well). That makes it more difficult to carry on business, believe it or not: it's very cold and precise. I've had to ask questions concerning accounts, and the people in the branch have been absolutely clueless as to how to answer: they have to call the same 1-800 number that I would to get customer service. What kind of system is that?? When I go to First Northern, everyone knows who I am. i get business done (efficiently, I might add..) and have a pleasant experience. I feel like my money is taken care of. The staff at the desk all work well together, and do a wonderful job. This bank WANTS your business, and it shows in their high level of customer service. If you're looking for an investment firm, their department of Raymond James is really TOP NOTCH. Rhonda and Dave have worked together for years, and they really know their stuff. One of the best pieces of advice that I've ever received was a tidbit about something called "airtime" that they mentioned on their radio show. (Been listening off and on since the mid-1990s.)

I have been with Allstate for nearly 25 years at same office (started my first policy with Jordan's dad Reed when I was 16 years old). We just got finished with a nightmare homeowners claim due to water pipe busting. The Allstate-recommended company to do the repairs was horrific and took 7 months to repair damage that at most, should have been 2 or 3 months. All the while, my family of 5 (3 kids under 13) having to live in a hotel. Then on top of that, they did over $10,000 of damage to our furniture by improperly storing. Now, for the second time, Allstate is refusing to repair damage related to an auto accident and acting in Bad Faith denying claims without properly even reviewing. I am filing in small claims court today because even after reporting my issues with the claims office, and to Jordan's office, I still have heard nothing back from anyone, even though they claimed a "Claims Advocate" would be contacting me to help me with my issues." What a joke. I am about to cancel all my policies with Allstate...Couldn't be in "worse hands!!" - bad pun intended.

And besides, no matter how much money you're talking about, when it's YOUR money you want to feel like only trusted individuals are working with you. I've been extremely pleased with the communication from James and most especially the personal touch he adds to our business relationship. My 32nd birthday was in September and he sent a hand-written card acknowledging it. It said more than just "Happy birthday Amy" and was really unexpected and sweet. Doing business like this pleases me greatly and I would recommend him to my friends and family.
