This place is an absolute joke and I wouldn't send my worst enemy here to bank. I haven't had my credit card through them in quite a while and every single month they call and harass me about a credit card that doesn't exist anymore. Nobody should have to put up with that, and their auto loans are a waste of time and money as well. They add an extra thousand dollars and an extra year on to the loan without telling you and then you're stuck paying it for longer than the agreed period of tim. Extremely disappointed with this credit union. My previous credit union merged with first commonwealth and it has been absolutely horrible. We went from having on the spot customer service to waiting on the line for 30+ minutes for people not to know how to answer a simple question. I understand business wise it might've been good for them to merge, but when you're dealing with bigger companies, you get less and less of that family feeling especially when it's a place you trust to hold your money. The long wait times and 20 million questions is unreal. And then when they say they don't know they'll put in a request. You never hear back from anybody. It's absolutely ridiculous. read more

I have been a member of this credit union for over 30 years and the last two or three transactions with this institution has led me to never want to bank here again... 1. they are promoting online banking and yet have a limit of $amount you can do for check deposit through your online account. they are stating safely issues - yet they put a "hold" on any check deposited. So you can keep my money for "safety reasons" yet I can't do remote deposit for safety reasons. I get it it's a one way relationship. 2. today I went to deposit a "certified check" from a different financial institution where I closed out my account. I was told there would be a hold on the check even though it was a certified check and that was how the system does things and can't be changed. I can't imagine that is even legal! anyway I won't go into all the other issues - bottom line they are no longer a "community bank" and it seems as though they are behaving like every other bank out there! read more

I joined a credit union to get away from big banks and ended up with inconveniencea and pr oblens. atms never work , I'm always forced to go inside to deal with slow tellers. in fact today, there were three tellers and a line of customers and one of the tellers , instead of helping us decided to go talk to another teller, leaving us standing in line watching in horror as our already time contstrained day slipped by... don't join this credit union read more

Similar to the recent reviews, I could not be more dissatisfied with Bellco's allowing this merger. First, Commonwealth has been nothing but nightmares since the merge. They "lost" all my transactions to my Home Equity Loan; I got locked out when attempting to log in twice. They don't have my correct "security answers" to the questions when calling. Their phone system, when calling, sounds like I'm calling outer space--nothing but feedback and static with every call; they are very difficult to hear. The rep on the other end keeps saying, "Sorry, my system is slow." (different people, different calls, same problems) The straw that broke the camel's back: $500 is missing from my account, and they are trying to say I ACH'd the money when that is not the case. This account is solely used to pay the home equity loan, period. They "can't provide any details when asking for transaction details." How does a financial institution not know where the money went when it moved from? Thank God this place is not my primary place to spend money. Closing Accounts this week! worst place I have dealt with! no compassion if you're god forbid laid off from your job and more than a day behind on your loan, they will repo your car faster than they even return phone calls when you're trying to make a payment or talk to a human about something. the people who work here need classes on basic human compassion. this "credit union" is a joke. would recommend stay away if you can. read more

So this bank promotes their online banking but heaven forbid you enter your password wrong off business hours. I have a shaky hand, so sometimes I make a lot of errors typing, so was locked out of my account, unable to reset my password and remained locked out of my account until I was able to talk to a representative ( good luck, wait times are usually longer than 30 minutes ) This is the 3rd time I was locked out of my account. I have never witnessed less Quality of customer service. I have dealt with the most reuse people I have ever met. Every representative I have spoke with has had a different set of policies. They repossessed my vehicle for being one month behind, after being in the hospital. I was told by Deanna Prosper that she could take my vehicle If I was one day behind. I paid the total they told me to pay and they said they had to hold it for 3 days, I called after 3 days and they said 10 days, I called today and Patsy told 7 days but she couldn't release my money. They have argued and yelled at me back to back it's been 9 days since I paid in full 2500.00 and yet I still can not get my vehicle. If you are looking for a loan, use a mafia loan shark you may have a better experienc. I do not recommend this Institution to anyone. read more

Honestly this is probably one of the worst banks you can deal with. They never ever answer the phone. They have weird rules like you have you sign up to get your statements and of you don't sign up you can never get them and even after you sign up it's take a week for them to start showing from the day you signed up. The value is horrible. Just stay away from this bank it's not worth the headache. read more

We are very disappointed the Bellco Federal Credit Union merged with First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union. I saw another man had the same problem we had. I must have accidentally entered the wrong password and I was locked out of the account. It said that I tried three times. On the second time I entered the correct password, and it still locked me out. No recourse except to call and wait and hopefully get to speak with someone and if it is after hours there is nothing you can do. read more

My previous credit union, Bellco, has merged with First Commonwealth and the entire experience has been absolutely horrible. My husband is no longer able to transfer funds to our joint accounts, can't tranfer or make payments on the current day, they didnt have my back on an Amazon chargeback that the item was not as described and returned to the seller. Now I am out money and have nothing to show for it. Both my husband and I have been passed along to different customer service/departments people for a TOTAL OF OVER 3 HOURS and then put on hold for an hour of silence and no one came back to the phone, my husband was locked out of his money, and the mobile app is not even close being as good as Bellco's was. I tried to keep an open mind during the transition period, but we are way past that and have been shown that bigger is not better. The way we are just passed along from one person to another shows that MY time is does not mean anything to this company. I was a loyal customer of Bellco for 20+ years and by word of mouth got many people to join the credit union...they were that good and deserved the positve recommendations. Now I hope that someone can recommend me to a new credit union that operates and has the mentality of Bellco. I need to move all my accounts, my husband's accounts, joint accounts, and iras. I've been a member of this credit union since it started at Western Electric in the basement. This is when accuracy and service was excellent. Ever since the hiring of new people, there has been many mistakes and ignoring requests of deposits been made as separate transactions. I've even been asked WHAT AM I GOING TO USE THE MONEY FOR!!!!! AND WHY DO I WANT SEPARATE DEPOSITS!!!! Combining my two deposit amounts just happened again by the teller at the Fogelsville branch even though I had written on the deposit slip to deposit the amounts separately. I clearly had the account that the money was to be deposited into written on the deposit slip. Yet, the teller deposited the money in a totally different account number. This is NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS WAS DONE!!! Several months ago, I had a large deposit check dropped in the night deposit WITH A CLERARLY WRITTEN ACCOUNT NUMBER. I was wondering why the money wasn't showing up in my account. When I had to take the time out of my life to go the the credit union, it was discovered it was put in someone else's account whose account numbe was not even close to mine!!! If someone should die, this would NEVER have been discovered and their heirs would be out the money!!!! THIS CREDIT UNION OUGHT TO BE INVESTIGATED PARTICULARLY THE FOGELSVILLE BRANCH. read more

I went to First Commonwealth FCU and this location looks very modern, the staff are nice and seem pretty knowledgeable, they also have ITM's if you don't have a debit card on you which is nice as well, it is limited hours since you have to talk to a real person for that. read more

This credit union is fantastic and if you are knowledgeable about banking you'll know they are giving you great rates for loans, credit cards , etc. I have dealt with the local key bank in the area for years way back to east penn bank days and they charge you for EVERYTHING. I closed that account just last year and transferred all to FCFCU and have never been happier. Rates are not that great on savings but loans can't be beat and little or no fees on services I use. If people don't like them please quit and go to a big bank and you'll be back in a year with less money due to fees. read more

Calling for information is a nightmare I was calling for a week and a half before I could communicate. Last time they put me on hold was for 36 mins. The automatic machine asks you if you want to leave a message for them to call you back; however, if you choose that option, would not work. I also witness how a Spanish senior was struggling to speak English to the tell, and this one, which by the way was Hispanic, did not even try to speak in his language and provided the whole service in English. When I approached her and asked her in Spanish if she spoke Spanish, this one said "Si, yo hablo espanol soy latina" which means "yes, I speak Spanish as I'm Latina." Such a shame!! read more

Making payments through this bank is awful. They will shut down a long standing up to date account without notice. They leave you stranded with no way to make online payments other than entering a paper check routing number and check number and every time you need to make a payment. I made payments with 2 clicks online with an account I opened at this bank over 3 years ago here. Never a problem ever. They tell me they closed my account as it's an upgrade to their system and this is the new way I need to make payments?? I get the impression the online banking platform at this bank is not working very well and this story I am getting is BS. Good luck to anyone who banks with this institution. read more

If you call to make a payment I have videos and audio proof to back up my horror stories of attempting to get help through this bank. Debbie Gross was the collections manager that hung up on me and acted like an over-payed infant. Absolutely terrible service. Customer service is everything when your business does the same exact thing thousands of others do. ABSOLUTE WORST BANK EVER. STAY AWAY. Business practices still stuck in the stone age. Service fees and hidden withdraw and transfer fees for everything. Payment fees for making payments. Unable to easily process anything online or even worse, if you need help, may heaven help you because the service reps definitely can not. If you are above the age of 70 you may be able to cope with this, but if you are younger than that you will literally be laughing at the amount of service fees. I'm so very sad to see the negative reviews posted here. This bank has been nothing but wonderful to me. I've been with them for about seven years. I learned so many things about credit, finance management and service with them. I was a young adult and they helped me to establish my credit and also to get out of debt with FREE assistance. The customer service is wonderful. Online and on the phone they are courteous and kind. In person, they are even more wonderful to work with. You get to know names and faces and they recognize you. It's a smaller union with a loyal base of employees and customers. I've been with 3 other banks/unions and none of them compare. I would suggest and recommend them to anyone. I'd say, give them a go! In my experience they have been able to exceed my expectations. They even give you breaks with loans 1 month a year. (Summer or holiday season.) You just pay the bank fee of about 19 dollars. After being a member of FCFCU for 7 years, we received a "loss account letter" from them yesterday stating that they couldn't offer ANY further services other than a simple savings account with cash "only" in and out due to a charge back on Baker Credit Union who they merged with? It was because of a car repossession on her ex husband who she was tied to at the time 19 YEARS AGO! Needless to say, we've been with them for 7 years, absolutely no negative dings to either of us on our credit, and NEVER a late payment of ANY kind on utilities or anything else! Both of us have had STELLAR credit ratings (770 and above) and also bank with Fulton and Edward R Jones. I have kept a small amount of savings(3K) just to take advantage of FCFCU's low interest rate Visa credit card. NOT ANYMORE! When you have a history of paying off THREE car loans early, paying off a previous home mortgage EARLY, never missing a payment on utilities in your lifetime, and a substantial money market account with a competitor ~ we don't need this kind of BS! In today's economy, you would think any financial institution would take into account your solid and dependable payment history over something that happened almost 20 years ago considering the MANY deadbeats that drive their accounts into overdraft continuously, but whatever? LOL! Good luck to FCFCU and Baker on their merger ~ I look for a lot of defaults coming to the banking system. read more

If I could give it less than 1 star I would. Their banking upgrade caused nothing but headaches for weeks, with no way to sign in online. Dont get me started if you have to dispute a charge on your account. Their locations are still closed, and you will likely be connected to a non- english speaking person in Indonesia who does not know what planet they are on. This credit union comes off as excellent...but watch it! They told me, and even got nasty to me saying I did not make an extra payment on my mortgage, this was told to me by three different people, then all of a sudden the VP of loans found it...gee! They also will promise a cash reward for new depositors, but never deliver ! watch them like a hawk! Update: I deposited two mortgage payments toward my principle, as of 10/01/2015. As of today (10/08/2015) they have not been posted.......Really? I would not get another mortgage from these people ever again! read more

Be aware! We are consolidating loans and closing all accounts to avoid dealing with them any longer. Workers are friendly but questions and concerns are never answered fully until you call multiple times or actually visit a branch. Payment systems for loans are outdated. Your best bet is to actually go into a location and pay which is difficult to do when you are working full time. I have had to take off several times to just get answers. Not convenient. read more

This credit union is an excellent place to do your business no matter what it is. They have awesome super low rate on car loans, personal loans. credit cards etc... I have several products with them and every time I need something I get noting less then great customer service 100% of theh time. I highly recommend First commonwealth federal credit union to anyone that is able to join the union. I am a B.O.A customer also and get no service from them at all when in need of assisitance Horrible experience there. Not for nothing but it just seems that the only people who actually have a problem with this great place are the ones who don't pay their bills regardless of the situation that led up to that point. just because those people have issues don't mean its the Credit Unions fault. So does that deserve a bad rating ?? I bet the people didn't leave the place bad rating when all was great for them including the loan approvals with low rates.
