I apologize for being so tardy in rating this fine banking branch in Mineral Wells, Texas. I opened a checking account several years ago, when I thought my wife would agree to return to my native Texas to retire, but....sigh....no such luck. In three years, we will definitely have to relocate to Texas.....we will exhaust our money in the expensive " Golden State. " We definitely can survive in MW on my SSA and my wife's part time job there. I still recall how I was treated with superb customer service by the new accounts rep, as well as one of the banking officers, whose name I cannot recall, but who resembled the great Dallas Cowboy Bob Lilly from back in the seventies. How do you rate a bank? Well, if they give you some money, you give them lots of stars! First Financial is my bank in Abilene, and they have spread rapidly towards DFW. This location charges a fee to cash their own checks, a payroll check at that. The drive thru customer service is subpar and extremely slow.

After two decades of being with the same bank it sold out so we switched to First Financial rather than taking a chance on the new bank (for various reasons). The costumer service at First Financial is outstanding and their online banking is super easy. Everything is much better than our previous bank of 20 years. Best move we ever made! read more
