Coming all the way from Wine country, I find it hard to find farmers markets that beat the ones I…read morego to at home or in San Rafael. A friend invited us to visit her family in Discovery Bay, and we were luckily coming on a farmers day weekend. I assumed it would be a typical small one since we were in what I considered the middle of nowhere but I was sorely mistaken. The first indication that I presumed incorrectly about this farmers market was that parking was difficult with only an hour or so left of the market. The second was the actual sight of the market itself. This market spanned about two blocks and was filled with more than just produce which was a welcome surprise to me. All of the vendors were so friendly and one guy even trash talked another peach stand that my friend had supported and got her to buy from his stand. Vibes were immaculate here and loved the variety! Would definitely return and look forward to when I do.

But, I am so glad I stumbled upon this gem. The Brentwood Farmer's Market is a nice little area, filled with vendors. My favorite: 1. The Best Chicken Salad (iykyk) I inhaled that container $16. 2. The Ribs from Adam's Get Down Gumbo $18 3. This amazing Steph's Fresh Vegan Verde Cashew Spread $10 4. If you are here for produce, there is produce galore. You do have a selection of fresh produce and all the Brentwood mommies hauling carts and children strollers. I did not try the food trucks at the end caps, but if I am ever in the area, I'll take a gander. Street parking is parking at your own risk. Overall, the neighborhood is nice and there is a row of apartments adjacent to the park?

They usually have the most varieties and generally largest figs at the market. As of 9/11/21, the season just started and there are now about three or four other growers with stands here now. Just a week later, all of these growers were not longer at the market. Don't know whether there was some weather calamity or other growing issues to shorten the season to must a couple weeks. They have not been at the market since 9/11/21. Guess we'll have to wait till next fig season.

We will tell you that the most outstanding offering from KO Farm is integrity. Their growing practices go beyond the organic threshold. Rick and Kristie, Eduardo, and staff are real believers in producing the best products in the spirit and letter of Biodynamic growing practices. You can taste the quality and know your food was grown using sustainable practices. A Yelp review may not be the place to recount the history of KO Farm.
