Very sad :( slow with no workers. Very nice workers and facility but unfortunately not enough employees to accommodate the customers.

This is my first ever yelp review, so the fact I'm taking the time to write out this whole…read moresituation says a lot about how messed up it was. I didn't appreciate the way my family and I were treated. This branch is 5 minutes away from my house in Ewa, so we always come to do transactions here. We've never had issues until now. So the fact this situation happened is ridiculous. It all started when my sister was trying to deposit a check from GEICO Insurance to my father's bank of Hawaii account at this branch. It had my dad's first and last name and my other sister's first name (only because she is on the car insurance policy) to who it was payable to. He signed the back of the check and they wouldn't let her deposit to his account. The teller said she needed to get my other sister's signature and then she could deposit it. My sister comes back to the bank with the additional signature the teller requested. She proceeds to give the teller the check and the assistant manager on the floor then tells her that she's unable to deposit the check. The assistant manager proceeds to say that my other sister(whose first name is on the check) needs to deposit it. Keep in mind that her name is not on the bank account but they are still requesting her to be present (but not my father whose full name is on the check). Frustrated, my sister leaves the bank and my mother comes to the branch to figure out why a simple transaction is being denied. She proceeds to the next available teller and explains the situation, then the assistant manager (who denied the deposit with my sister) proceeds to rudely tell my mother that she can't deposit this check to my father's account because my sister (who's first name only is on the check) has to be present, even though she is not the account holder. My mother states that we always make deposits here to the Aloha Gas account and my father's account before and we never need a signature to deposit. My mother then requests to see the branch manager, and she says "I am the assistant manager, you can speak to me" my mother requests again to speak with the actual branch manager and gets denied. Frustrated and offended by the assistant manager, my mother leaves this branch and goes to the kapolei branch where she was able to deposit my father's check. The next day, I go to the bank of Hawaii branch in Ewa beach safeway to cash my bonus check from my employer. The bonus check has my full name and I endorsed the check on the back per banking protocol. I proceed to the available teller, showed my ID, he approves the transaction and is about to get my cash. Then the assistant manager (who was rude to my mother and sister), looks at my ID and then tells me I can't cash my bonus check. Proceeds to tell me that they need to verify that I work for the company and that I've cashed checks from my employer at that bank before. (Mind you, I do all the time because this branch is close by my house). This is a Saturday and my employer's office is closed so there's no way to contact my employer. The fact I was denied to cash a check in my name is ridiculous and petty. Frustrated with being denied to cash my check, I drove all the way to the Pearlridge bank of Hawaii where I was able to cash my bonus check, no issues. I am sharing this story because my mother, my sister and I were treated poorly by the assistant manager at this branch (who never had a name tag on both occasions she was rude to us). I spoke with the actual branch manager to tell her the situation and she was just defending the assistant manager, who she said she is actually just a supervisor. The branch manager told me that their specific branch is just thorough. Like, I get that people are just doing their job but the fact this lady was petty enough to not let me cash my check is terrible. Depositing and cashing checks are simple transactions but we went through all these issues because of one individual.

But Jess had gone above and beyond, by servicing me in the branch with my problems & gave me phone updates with the progress of my account needs. I went to the bank to clarify the situation and show my online banking of deducted amount. The manager Criselda is not helpful at all, he keep saying to call my bank and there is no problem on their side. And I did call my bank saying i do have sufficient funds and if i dont then i should pay charges for that. So i told the CPB manager and still insisting that" its not their fault". I got home i was not satisfied and called Loan assistant of CPB and they said their is technical error, and they will call me back to investigate. Oh well they called back and yes they received the money and got "reversed" or returned. But i never get that return money, so loan lady said she will process again . Whats funny is they i need to pay again with "late fees" plus car loan. Im like ok whatever to end this as long as you give me my return money. Until 2 weeks 3 weeks passed i didnt get the return money. I go back and forth to my bank and to cpb just a waste of time. I showed them the proof and didnt get any response from cpb after that no calls at all, all i want that time is "where did my payment go". almost 1 month of chaos, whats frustrating is no calls or updates on cpb. i called them again and yes they have my money and put it in my car loan. Im like you have my money, i wasted my time, my gas , i paid extra "late fees" , no updates and now they tell that they applied to my car loan as extra/added to my principal. From manager, online support who gave me different excuses on what happen to my return money, come on fix the system, communicate more.

There was nearly no one in the bank. I went and sat on the couches provided by the bank because I need to go to T-Mobile which was next-door but they opened in 15 minutes. So I thought sitting on the couch for 15 minutes would be a good idea and just wait. I was asked by the tell her if I needed additional help and I said no, I'm just waiting for Tmobile to over next-door, she kinda went on the offense and said "what time is that??" I said like 15 minutes is that OK? She said as long as it's 15 minutes like she was gonna kick me out or something as a member to the bank and then the other girl said you can't stay here. I was just looking for a comfortable place after doing a transaction with my bank. Two 815 minutes to Tmobile to open up quietly, sat on the corner on my phone with nearly no customers in the store. You can see in the picture. I posted the two girls. The guy in the picture is probably one of the best customer service service representative there! My transaction was awesome. It's when I sat down on the couch after the transaction, thenall hell broke loose. Well, just wanted to sit down and wait for 15 minutes. I am taking my business to Navy federal full-time, at least I'm welcome to sit on the couch for 10 minutes or 15 minutes.

It is clean, very modern, and while other branches have long lines, I've never encountered that in Ewa Beach. The branch doesn't even look like your typical credit union--there's no long bank of teller's windows. Tellers approach you with laptop in hand, and if you need, you work with them at a station. If not, they teach you how to use the computerized machines (think ATM on steroids) to complete your transaction. I don't deposit checks in person much anymore since remote deposits are so easy, but when I do, the computer thingy will make it easier. Also, Ewa Beach and I think Aiea are the only locations that are open on Saturday. Thanks for that!!

We have been calling every month to transfer money from her savings to her checking. I thought that it was strange that her accounts were only in her name. I asked if she wanted one or both of her sons on her accounts... to be safe... in case she goes into the hospital again... She agreed. I parked in the shared parking lot at Waipahu Town Center. Located right next to Longs Drugs Store, American Savings Bank has two Automated Teller Machines outside for after hour transactions. They close at 5pm on Mondays through Thursdays; 6pm on Fridays; and 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Inside the spacious, clean environment, there were two visible tellers. Another customer was waiting for the 3rd teller who was in the back. I grabbed an office chair from the office on the end so aunty could sit down while she waited for her turn. A teller finally was free to help us, but she couldn't do everything that we requested. The Assistant Vice President, Jill, came to our aid. We followed her to her office and laid out some documents. Jill did as much as she could. We will keep in touch and finish this transaction tomorrow. Thank you! Note: checks are $28.50 per box - hopefully, this fee can be waived!
