And let me tell you, it will not disappoint! It is absolutely a once in a lifetime experience. Our tour guide Brooke was outstanding in teaching us all there was to learn about Kaua'i cacao beans, the fermentation process, incredible chocolate tasting notes, and other fruits and nuts that are unique to Kaua'i and Hawai'i. I am not a "chocolate person", and while I only attended this tour out of admiration for the cacao bean and chocolate making process, I must say Lydgate's chocolate is truly unique and worth the visit. It is unlike any other chocolate I have ever tasted. Lydgate Farms' other products-- honeys, chocolate covered macadamia nuts and chocolate covered coffee beans-- are incredible as well. My personal favorites were the honey roasted macadamia nuts and chocolate covered coffee beans, which I bought. In addition to the extraordinary tour (thank you Brooke!! Seriously, you are fantastic!!) and souvenirs we enjoyed, one of the more memorable parts of this whole experience was hitching a ride back to our hotel in Lihue from Lydgate's Marvelous Maintenance Guy, Mike. Mike saw me and my mom struggling to get a Lyft back and offered us a ride back. A journey that would have taken us 5 hours to walk became a precious 25 ish minute drive where we got to both share our stories about what led us to Kaua'i. Mike was so sweet, he made me and my mom feel so safe-- especially as two young women traveling by ourselves for the first time. It is welcoming and kind people like Mike who put the "ohana" in the "Lydgate Farms Ohana" name and make Kaua'i what it is. This was a beautiful experience, and I can only hope that I can visit again in my lifetime.

Our tour was led by Henry, who was equally knowledgeable as he was passionate about all of the plants & flowers. He clearly had a passion for chocolate and the mission to educate visitors. We were introduced to the cocoa trees (the process of growing and maintaining the orchards), vanilla vines, ginger plants, allspice trees, cherry and guava trees to name just a few. He informed us on what was edible from the trees. The "pit stops" were interactive, fun & most of all tasty. We got to sample a whole variety of exotic fruits from the farm & a wide range of chocolate during the chocolate tasting. I don't think I will ever be able to think of chocolate in the same way again. How lucky we are to have this farm working so hard to not only bring the craft of chocolate creation to more people but continuing to mindfully curate this bio-diverse plant sanctuary.

I was tempted to buy a glass guitar pick but they're slightly thicker than I like to use, haha. My daughter was looking for a souvenir for her boyfriend and she settled on a ring she found that was pretty cool! Prices were reasonable and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We met Kyle & his staff during one of the hardest times of our lives... We lost an amazing soul…read morenamed Kailon in February 2025. He was loved by so many & we all struggled with his loss & how to best honor his legacy... Kailon was the kind of human that made an impact on random strangers. He brought joy to everyone who knew him. Even Kyle had a story to share about our brother; it was memorable to say the least lol. Kailon was like that... So when it came time to do the ashes, many of us wanted to enjoy a little sliver of physical love, a token to cherish. Enter: "Cremorial Glass Charms." Wow.... Kailon's ashes were mixed with glass & some green (his favorite color) & these amazing little lifetime beauties came from that mana mixed with the master glass man himself. Kyle was very considerate, respectful & really went above & beyond for us in a time of grief. His "bedside manner" was much appreciated in a time of chaos, grief & heartbreak. Now KailonStoked is all over the place. Many have his charms on them at all times, because we know his spirit is with us, but we also have a daily reminder of whose legacy we are honoring. Priced very fair & provides a unique way to preserve our loved ones.... Work with Kyle for your beloved; you can even get unsealed charms as well (in case you want to take the ashes & spread them around). WOW!!! What an incredible luau with great food and friendly people…read more Smith's is a family-run luau and they put their heart and soul into what they do. We started in their pristine gardens and heard about the history of Smith's and learned about the traditions of Hawaiian luaus. After we transitioned to the dining area for open bar and the luau feast. The luau feast was INCREDIBLE! I went up for seconds and my husband went up for thirds. The roasted pig was his favorite bite of the night, while mine was the teriyaki steak. We both loved the rice pudding for dessert, as well as the coconut cake and fresh fruit. We saw amazing dances and heard the history of different influences on Hawaiian culture. Overall, it was a fantastic night and it was a great first luau for us.

It's honestly hard for me to leave. She makes the beautiful prayer bead jewelry and necklaces that have special meanings and she has them written on each one. She takes individual care and love with each piece and customer. Her grandkids are there now sometimes minding the shop. There are also these beautiful driftwood carvings by a local artist I just love. I could literally walk around this store so long looking at the many beautiful art pieces. Not sure if they're just trying to get everyone in and out to prep for the luau, but I would have loved a more relaxed pace. We are, after all, on island time! LOL!
