Because one doctor ruined the experience for me. I had a covering doctor for a year by the name of Dr. Sandhu (my regular doctor (Dr. Jamal) was on personal leave), and it was probably the worst medical experience I've ever had. She was extremely cautious in treating me, which ultimately led to my suffering. She didn't seem all that confident in herself or me to ensure my care was properly managed. For example: I have ADHD. It is not my first rodeo being on stimulants. I switched from one stimulant to a different one, and I had to stay on a dose that wasn't working for me for 6 long weeks. I wasn't able to focus at school and ultimately failed one of my courses. I told her about this, but she insisted that I stay on a dose that isn't working for me because she was scared to move me up. It seemed like she was really scared of being liable should anything happen to me. I have many more examples of this but I want to keep my medical history private. Dr. Jamal was very proactive and I'm SO glad he's back because while Dr. Sandhu was nice and kind, her style of care did not work for me at all. I hope to avoid her at all costs.

She once removed my stitches that were really difficult to deal with because I kept them too long. the wait time is quite short, especially when you book your appointment A.M.. it might get longer in the afternoon, but usually things are moving quite fast there. it is not a place where you will have a super long and heartfelt conversation with your doctor, but you will get a good service and won't be stuck in the waiting room like I witnessed in some other places. they are really good with keeping up with lab work and contacting people if results are bad. it is a very well organized place. One thing that I had noticed is quite a high turnover of the receptionists - or maybe there are many part timers? it seems that any time I go there I see new faces at the reception. Nonetheless, they are friendly and keep up with the fast pace, which is quite challenging in this kind of environment.

He wrote up the forms I needed to get some blood work done and sent me on my way. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. I returned the next morning to see the lab tech for my blood work. Though they open at 9 and I was first in line to see the tech, she did not see me until almost 9:30. Once I was in she was great. She had the needle in on the first try and thanks to my excellent pumping skills, I had the vials filled in no time.

The doctors all seem fairy knowledgable. I fractured my tibia once and came here to have it checked out. They sent me right over to Bloor and Christie (about a block away) to get X-Rays done and called me about 3 days later with the results. That's better service than my own family doctor provides! They also have a pharmacy located on the same floor, so you can always pick up your prescription there if need be. FInding a family doctor is hard, so when I moved downtown 10 years ago, I discovered that I couldn't find a family doctor, but I could be assigned to a Nurse Practitioner at WCH Family Practice. For those reluctant to opt for a Nurse Practitioner, I can tell you from my experience, it is better than a family doctor. Anything they can handle on their own is done quickly because you can see them sooner than the overbooked doctors, and when there is something they can't handle, it is referred to a doctor in the clinic or a specialist, so it is the best of both worlds. My Nurse practitioner retired last year and I ended up becoming a patient of one of the doctors in the clinic, and while she is a great doctor, WCH is a teaching hospital, so she is only in the clinic twice a week, so appointments are hard to get. However, WCH family practice offers urgent care appointments in the evenings, so if a doctor can't see you that day, you can see one in the evening, instead of going to a walk in clinic or emergency. The clinic is very accessible, something I appreciated after my knee surgery.
