This place is definitely overrated. I don't ever remember waiting 45 mins for food. I won't come here again!!

First time to try First Watch and unfortunately, it didn't live up to all these 5 star reviews stating it's the best breakfast in the Boro. It's pretty pricey for what you get, (omelet, traditional breakfast and 2 coffees, $36 after tip). I got the works omelet and the egg was paper thin, barely any cheese, and it was so bland I had to load it up with salt and pepper. I can't eat bread so it comes with some greens, nothing else (no option to sub out for the toast, unless you want to pay more). The traditional b-fast was pretty sad, scrambled eggs were a weird texture and again, zero flavor in the eggs and potatoes. Nothing special about any of it. We had an amazing server- but there was a man training with her who's name I think was Jack? He was incredibly rude and offered horrible service. I asked for milk and he told me to go back to my moms tit. I'm utterly shocked at how unprepared he was to take our table. He barely knew anything on the menu. Visited here for breakfast last week. Usually go to the one in Smyrna. It is excellent. Murfreesboro was disappointing. Food was not as good. Server had food spilled all over her shirt. Food on floor in our area. Restrooms were filthy. Had not been cleaned for a long time and no toilet paper. Toilets were horrible. Do not waste your time or money. read more

**UPDATE** Everything in my original post seems to be resolved. The food is great, our orders are correct, and the staff is always attentive and helpful. So I've upgraded to 5 stars I like this place and eat here fairly often. And by fairly often I mean at least 3X/month. Usually on Sunday after church so at a busy time. My friend and I use the No Wait app so we don't have any issues with the wait. The staff is always super friendly, but they seem overwhelmed the last month or so from people calling out or being short staffed. The food is great we always get the skillet hash Farmhouse. I understand the food coming out slower than on a typical weekday,but when it gets there I expect it to be right. Every week we order the same thing I say no extra onions or tomatoes and my friend says no cheese and no tomatoes and they consistently mess it up. The first couple of times we didn't say anything and just ate it..Last week we got so tired of it always being incorrect we finally sent it back. They corrected it and we're super nice about it. And of course we'll continue to go because the food is good, but the kitchen needs some attention to detail. Thus the 3 stars read more

I have frequented this place a number of times and usually for the most part get great service. This time started out promising but I was very disappointed. For a Sunday morning, the wait was only 15 minutes or less which was great. We got seated and the waitress started out very nice. The times I had come here, I usually get the same thing, so I wanted to switch it up, so my friend and I had a couple of questions on different products. I asked how the biscuit and (turkey) sausage was, she proceeded to state she doesn't eat meat. Hard to get a fair judge of the food when your employees don't eat half the items on the menu. We asked a few more questions and she abruptly stated. "Do you all need a few more minutes?!". She was not friendly at all about it. Yes, I know you are busy, but as the customer we have questions. The service only went downhill after that. She came back again and we ordered. She then debated with my friend if different locations serve cheese on their grits. My friend was just asking bc the other locales she had eaten to do. So she asked which cheeses they had, waitress responded impatiently, "All, everything" . She asked for gouda. Waitress responded, "I have never heard of that.". So my friend stated so you don't have all. How are you a Waitress and never heard of gouda cheese??...puzzled . Ok. So she named off a few with her head tilted to the side, noticeably irritated at this point. I ordered my food while I was literally pointing at it on the menu reading it to ensure I did not need it modified. She literally snatched menu up hurriedly as I was looking at it. I tried to look at it while it was in her hand and she purposely turned it over. At this point, I just wanted my overpriced food so I can go on with my day. It was obvious we had somehow irked her, even though we were cheerful and polite the entire time. Food came quite quick. Delicious as always. The servers and runners were more professional than the Waitress. We felt more comfortable asking for the condiments from them. My friend needed butter for her grits so we had to ask our irritated Waitress, who then didn't bring till we were done eating. At the end of meal when she brought checks, she tried to save face and apologize saying that she had been slammed with 3 tables and they were short staffed because ppl had called out. I'm thinking in my head, wth does that to do with the piss poor service you provided??? Scratching head. Anyways. She then stated she was already ready to go. I told her I hope her day gets easier. I will say when the hostess/cashier asked how was everything we briefly expressed service could have been better. They were very humble and apologized profusely and asked if anything they could do about our meal. I believe in paying for things that were provided. We happily paid for our food, however left no tip for the waitress. Thus is very unlike me, but she was so rude and cold, she did not deserve a red cent from us. We found this on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We checked in on Yelp and was seated soon after arriving, at 11:28. We placed our order and proceeded to sit for 1.5 hour waiting on our food. We asked our server about it and she said I will check right now, but instead she started taking orders. Once our food arrived it looked good. I took 1 bite of my biscuit and gravy and it was ok, nothing to right home about but good. My second bite was the potatoes, I immediately get something in my mouth, I pulled out a long, black hair. It took everything in me to not barf. It was was curled around my tongue. My husband called the server over and she said "Oh, yea, I see that". No apology, no manager presence nothing! I wouldn't suggest going here. What we had was subpar, at best. My daughter had the Am superfood bowl, she enjoyed it but for the price is wasn't worth it. It came in a big bowl but only a 1/4 of the bowl was filled. It was 4-5 bites and peanut butter toast. My husband got the French toast and it was decent. The million dollar bacon was horrible, and I mean horrible! The bacon was raw and I'm not someone who likes super crispy bacon, so if I say it's raw let me tell u it really was. I'm so disappointed in our experience. I let the girl at the register know it would have been nice to have an apology from a manager and she said "Well, we aren't charging you for the potatoes". I checked in with a party of 2 adults and a child and was told the wait was approximately 25-30 minutes which I thought was reasonable considering it was a Sunday. We waited on the benches at the front door and noticed people were getting sat pretty fast so we figured we wouldn't have to wait the full approximated time. We were wrong. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes, and luckily I had fed my toddler son ahead of time or we would have left. We were sat and menus placed before us. It took a few minutes for our server to greet us as she was attending to a fairly large party seated behind us. She came and took our drink orders in which we ordered the turmeric ginger beet juice drink. It was pretty tasty and tasted healthy. My friend and I both ordered the eggs Benedict with mixed greens and fruit cup on the side and I ordered the seasoned potatoes for my son. Our food arrived and looked decent though I expected the mixed greens to have been sautéed lightly but instead of served raw. The eggs Benedict was served on top of one full slice of toasted Ciabatta bread. When trying to cut into the bread, the bread was toasted too long and had hardened up. Both my friend and I requested new slices of bread not toasted. My son's potatoes were seasoned ok but kind of hard and not soft to eat. Overall the meal was ok; nothing spectacular. When you pay your tab, you go to the host stand/register to pay out which gets a little confusing when multiple people are coming up to tab out or request a table. I had higher expectations as a vegetarian option but I'm not sure I'll go back. The decor, menus and paying the check all reminded me of a healthier version of Cracker Barrel. Worst experience ever! First the hostess told us it would take 30 minutes to seat us and it only took 10. My party almost left but I said hold on I can see 6 open tables. We ordered and the food took almost an hour before it arrived. I've been to the First Watch in Hermitage and many other locations but this service and food were the worst here. I had the steak and hash special I've had before in Hermitage and it was down right gross. Nearly no steak full of nothing but potatoes was totally different than the entree at the Hermitage location. The cashiers ask me how everything was and I complained about the quality and taste of my food. He said they had some new people back there but that was it - nothing else. Never again! Never Again. I have been a big fan of First Watch from the first time I tried one in Cincinnati years ago, and have wished for years they'd bring one to our area. We finally got one, and while I still enjoy the food, this establishment needs to get it together on logistics. It's not a big place to begin with, but the disorganization in the front leaves many folks piled up at the door waiting to be seated while clearly ONE THIRD of the tables sit EMPTY. I don't know how they can keep the doors open if this keeps up. People will get frustrated and not come back, or the loss of revenue from so many empty tables will takes its toll. Again, I like First Watch, and otherwise our meals there are quality experiences, but standing and waiting for 20 minutes while staring at so many empty tables is enough to sour me down to 2.5 stars. read more

Love the menu but I don't want to pay those prices for cold food- been there different times different days and the plates are cold and food is at most slightly warm. Typically go for breakfast foods and potatoes and eggs taste awful cold. Will not go back Update: thanks to great corporate customer service, we were enticed to go back. Timing was the middle of the week, around 10am, quite slow. Our food was warm and good- but when we chatted to the server she advised us one of the mangers was cooking! Their iced coffee is delicious. Not too sweet just the way I like it. The eggs Benedict Florentine were spectacular. The breakfast came with seasoned potatoes as well. My wife had a traditional scrambled eggs with bacon potatoes and toast and that too was very delicious. The orange juice is freshly squeezed. Everything is organic and healthy. Instead of white sugar they have brown sugar on the table. They have no salt on the table only pepper. My waitress was very nice so was the hostess. The location is very clean and modern. I had their spicy bacon with maple syrup drizzled on top! Wow! Soooo good. Affordable! Will definitely come back one day when in town again. read more

First visit to this restaurant and it was fantastic. Food (chorizo omelet) was presented on hip square plate with a side of greens with a simple and tasty vinaigrette. Toast was thick whole grain with a delicious butter and strawberry jam. Atmosphere is clean, bright and welcoming and the service was prompt and friendly. Pricing was excellent and menu choices quite a bit different than most of the area (in a good way) This is one of the few restaurants in Murfreesboro that put it ALL together...food, pricing, atmosphere, service. I'll be back. Just as good five months later...same entree came with roasted potatoes that were done well. Coffee excellent, service good, establishment spotless. Updated review: The manager reached out to us and asked us to give it another try. The service and food were much better this time. I got the matcha pancakes, and they were pretty good, although incredibly sweet. My kiddos enjoyed their pancakes, my oldest son enjoyed his bacon and eggs, and my husband said the French toast was nothing to write home about. Our wait this time was over an hour. We had hoped to avoid a long wait by going around 10 AM, but that didn't seem to help. The consensus was that it was pretty good, but not worth such a long wait. Apparently others do think it's worth the wait though, since there always seems to be one! I was with my 3 young daughters. They shared an order of 2 pancakes, which was much cheaper than getting 2 kids meal pancakes ($7 compared to almost $I ordered the classic eggs Benedict, and we shared an order of the bacon. The girls' pancakes were huge, but $7 still seemed pretty expensive for two pancakes with no sides. My eggs Benedict was COLD, but because we had already been there for quite some time, I didn't want to ask my server to warm my plate up. My second egg had a runny white, so I did not eat it. My girls were getting over it by that point, and our server didn't stop to ask how the food was. Our bacon was yummy, but it showed up after all the other food. I was happy that the server left a carafe of coffee. All in all, I was very unimpressed. Our bill was $28 for myself and 2 girls (one was a baby and didn't eat.) Now to the food- we started off with Artisan wheat toast and homemade jam for appetizer and it was simply splendid. Then we had Organic mixed greens, romaine, all-natural chicken breast, bacon, toasted pecans, avocado, tomatoes and carrots with Cheddar and Monterey Jack. I just went to First Watch for the first time. Hostess acted annoyed. The coffee in waiting area was good. We were seated on patio. We waited several minutes. Those seated after us on the patio were served coffee and greeted by server. We were never acknowledged or informed if we had a server. After more waiting we got up and left. Informed the hostess were left on patio with no service. The food may be great but I'll never know. Couldn't get past the poor service. read more

After reading many reviews, I went to First Watch with high hopes. I kept it pretty simple - biscuits with turkey sausage gravy, 2 eggs and potatoes. Why is it that servers always manage to seat individual diners next to the kitchen or an exterior door (30 degrees outside), no matter how many empty tables are in the restaurant? Why bring my coffee to the table, pour, and then leave an empty thermal carafe on the table? I ordered the eggs over medium, but they were much closer to hard fried. Strike one. The potatoes? I'm assuming that somehow, some way, someone managed to spill a few cups of salt into the skillet. I managed a few bites but couldn't go further. Strike two. I've lived here for 55 years. My parents were from Arkansas. Suffice it to say that I grew up on buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy. I have no idea how they managed to remove every bit of flavor from their gravy, and every bit of texture from the biscuits. One bite and I was finished. Strike three. The server asked how everything was, and I let her know that it was not good. She apologized, then placed the check on my table and told me to pay at the front counter. So, overall a incredibly disappointing experience. One positive note - after I voiced my disappointment to the cashier, she didn't charge me for the food, only $3 for the half-cup of coffee. I'm not sure if I'll return, but, if I do, I won't order eggs, potatoes, biscuits or gravy. read more
