My last couple of visits to Fischer Vet have not been fun because my dog is dealing with a serious health issue, however the staff are absolutely amazing. I have a very high energy pit bull and they treat her like their own when we have an appointment. As the pet owner to the high energy dog, they always do everything they can to make our appointments as painless as possible including allowing us to wait in the car and checking us out once I've gotten her back in the car so as not to disturb any of the other pets. Overall, I love Fischer Vet and will continue to bring my dog here for all her health needs. read more

Front desk staff is nice. Arrive on time yet wait in lobby area for 20 minutes then put in an exam room to wait another 15 minutes. This is the 3rd time I have brought my dogs in for either well checks, or one sick visit, and will not be back. McGuire, the Vet, hurried in and out, exam of my dog was quick and left me with the feeling she was not interested, as was the vet tech. What McGuire did show great interest in was, again, pushing $1500 dental cleaning for a 5 YO pup. They are expensive, you must use their pharmacy and not Chewy which is less expensive for the exact same flea/tick protection. Just another money grabber. Miss our previous vet we had before the relocation who consistently showed interest. They are remodeling the entire clinic so I guess they need to make money, high volume, quick visits but not on my dime. read more

Overall a good experience. The lady who helped us before the main vet came in was fantastic. The dogs both adapted to her quickly which was great. I don't remember her name, but she is the reason for 4! I feel the main vet didn't connect with the dogs. Energy shifted quickly , but helped we were there. I also don't feel good check ups were done compared to my prior vet in SA. Would suggest for vaccine updates. read more

My 13 yr old dog was at the end of his life and started having seizers clearly suffering. I was new in town and never been here but when I called and told them what was going on they told me bring him in. They met me at the door took me back immediately and gave him a shot to help him relax. They were very compassionate and told me when I was ready they would give him the shot that would end his life. I expected to get a hefty bill as it was an emergency visit however it was no more than a standard charge. Highly recommend them. Took my new pup in to get rest of vacs, and some medicine for worms and fleas. Made an appt over the phone and was seen right away, all the techs and nurses were very sweet to my boy and answered all my questions. Prices aren't bad and they gave him a goody bag with toys that he loves! Overall great experience and will be going there for all my future pet needs. read more

We saw Dr McGuire and both she and the vet tech were great and did a excellent job of explaining our options. They were also totally understanding of cost concerns and provided several options so we could decide what worked for our budget without any judgment or pressure. I visited the clinic for treatment of an injury near my dog's eye and fungal/bacteria infection on my dogs back paws. Dr Strange is friendly and professional. I applaud the admin staff for being helpful and supportive. I had an amazing vet in Boerne as well as in San Antonio when I lived there and look forward to building a relationship with the vet team in my new home in New Braunfel. Do NOT recommend. I have two dogs that I bring in yearly for shot updates and heartworm test/ prevention order. Had my last appointment on the 27th of Feb. Had both dogs run through the usual exams or so I thought. When I checked on the status of the heartworm prevention I ordered through their pharmacy, I discovered that one dog's had been disapproved. I contacted the Vet on 03 Mar. Receptionist told me she'd check into it and get back to me. 05 Mar and still no answer so I doublechecked the vet paperwork from the last visit. Both dogs had the exact things listed and charged for their exam. I visited the vet and a receptionist claimed that they had forgotten to give one dog the exam even though I watched them draw blood for the heartworm test. They said they'd honor the prescription for the dogs heartworm test and wanted me to bring it in for the exam. I said "fine, once the heartworm preventative arrived for both dogs, I'd bring it it." I get home and happen to be checking email, see an email from the vet. They won't authorize the preventative until I return with the dog and pay another $81 for some exam. Remember, I saw them draw the blood for the heartworm test on the 27th of Feb. I don't know what makes me madder, that they can't accurately run admin for a vet or that they won't pick up a phone and have a conversation with a customer when their actions/inactions are the cause of the issue. They cancelled a prescription and didn't tell me, I had to find that out by checking the order status. read more

Dr Barbara Ward was very professional, and called me the same day with test results. She had a great bedside manner, and treated my kitteh like the most important person in the room. We had to wait a week for an appointment due to a staff shortage. Understandable, given the situation. My condolences to the staff. We even got a follow up call the day after the appointment to check on the patient. read more

I took my dog in for what I thought was allergies. Turns out it's a bit more serious. The staff was kind and made every effort for my comfort as well as my dogs. Test results were explained until I understood, as were the "next step" options. I felt like I was given the information i needed to be my dogs champion. I watched as every employee treated every visitor with kindness and empathy. I'm so glad I chose them. read more

Slowly starting to dislike it...of course everyone is very nice here and takes care of my dog. However, I've been getting my dogs nail trimmed here since he was a puppy. Started with paying $15, they raised the prices back in 2021 or 2022 to $18, and now it's up to $28. For a nail trim? No electronic filing...just a simple nail trim? And no one even let me know the prices were raised when I booked the appointment. Needless to say, i will be taking my dog elsewhere to get his nails trimmed. read more

I took my dog here. They charged me all this money for meds for my dog's issue. I had the impression that they were just guessing. So, after 2 visits and a month of recommending antibiotics for my dog the issue was still not resolved. So, they recommended sedating my Dog. When i showed up with my dog for the 3rd time to sedate my dog so they could express my dogs' glands. They refused service because I was reserving my rights on their consent form when I signed it. These clowns were trying to act more like legal experts. They want to be indemnified and not be held unaccountable if they harm your dog so you can't sue them SCUMBAGS. I do not recommend taking your pets here they appear to only care about money and not so much about your pet. read more

The staff here are always very thoughtful and caring to my fur babies. They listen to my concerns and also allow me to be a part of the process for treating my pups. The only negative is they are always busy so appointments can be hard to get right away. That says a lot about them overall in a good way! So everyone is very nice there but they will not allow you to speak to the vet for follow up questions (even though they promise the vet will call you back) after you leave. Everything is a charge and an appointment. It's how a lot of natural clinics run they are salespeople. They are very nice and friendly, but the fact that this has happened now twice, and then they told me to come back because the treatment didn't work then they charged me without telling me upfront, I don't like the lack of clarity in communication. You should absolutely be able to ask follow up questions to the vet following a treatment that isn't just "come back in." And don't tell people you will have the vet call if you're just going to play telephone with a note. They also trimmed my cats claws weeks ago and damaged one of them it still hasn't recovered read more

This vet clinic should be getting 10 stars. They are all amazing, sweet people who just want to help pets. The fact that you can walk in without an appointment and get seen quickly is a minor miracle at this day in age, and that is just where they get started. They have seen our pound puppy for a skin condition and an ear infection this year and both times I have been there less than an hour, gotten a thorough exam, medications and explanations from quality practitioners. They took the time to make the pooch comfortable in the environment and got to know him prior to starting the exam so that he would be at ease. Last spring when our older dog was having some weird neurological complaints they took me seriously, pinpointed additional symptoms and got me a referral to a wonderful doggie neurologist in San Antonio, then kept up with her diagnosis, treatment plans and status. They called me several times to ask how she was doing and see if there was anything they could do to help. When the time finally came to help her transition out of this world the vet could not have been more heartfelt in her condolences, more comforting or more genuine as my husband and I ugly cried about our first baby. They arranged for everything postmortem and even sent a lovely sympathy card. Also, at this time the visits seem to be running $35 plus meds which is super reasonable to me. If they want to do any testing they tell you about the price and other options in advance so there are no nasty surprises. This vet is the kind I would drive hours to return to should we ever move as they provide impeccable service. read more

FVC is THE BEST veterinary clinic in town, 10 out of 10!!! I call them the FVC Animal Angels. Some may not see their halos, but I do, above ALL of the staff, Vet Techs & Vets. My 8 year old dog, Koda, is very sweet, loves people and other dogs & cats. However, he is VERY difficult to work with due to a previous vet. I do not know what they did to him, but he was obviously traumatized because NOW, he has to be muzzled, NEVER had to be muzzled before. We started with FVC when Koda was a little bitty puppy and I regret taking him elsewhere, when Dr. Fischer retired. I took him to a different vet because of a request of a friend. So, now he has to be muzzled and restrained for even a simple exam. But FVC has never given up on Koda. They treat him with loving patience and caring kindness. When he is off the table & the muzzle comes off, he is back to the sweet loving dog that he is. I personally have have had great experiences as a pet owner. All treat me with just as much love & care that they do with Koda. Have been seen by two of the vets, Dr. Strange and Dr. Brady. They are both AWESOME, as I am sure the rest of the vets are too. After a few months of research I decided to go with Fischer to fix our pet rabbit. It's very different to take your pet to to the vet during a pandemic because you don't have the full experience of coming into the facility and meeting your vet. It was a little bit difficult in my heart to leave my pet but I know it was needed. We arrived early and dropped him off. I packed his baon (lunch) as a rabbit mom I had a cooler with fresh fruits and veggies, hay, pellets, water and ice packs to keep everything fresh. Don't judge lol. He wasn't wearing cloths or wearing shoes. LOL. Anyways. The tech was very nice when she came out to give me the paper work to sign and took our baby inside. About 1030 we received a call letting us know that Dean Martin was awake and doing well and surgery went well. Immediately I felt relieved hearing the news. I was excited to pick him up which was still a few hours away. I headed to the clinic at the 4 pm pick up time and the lot was packed with other pet parents. We picked him up and just saw sadness in his eyes. When we got him he seemed to just want to hide until he say his doggy sister. He went to greet her. This is the best Veterinary Clinic I've ever gone to! My 8 yr. Old fur baby Chewy, recently experienced a very bad reaction after going to a particular groomer. When I brought Chewy in to the clinic I was so nervous, since he'd never had a reaction like this after coming home from being groomed before, I didn't know what to expect. Dr. Strange and Shannon, LVT, were amazing! Dr. Strange is very knowledgeable, and empathetic, she did a thorough exam and reassured me that he would be fine. Shannon is also very patient and kind, and I really appreciate her calling me the next day to check and see how he was doing. I also feel that their examination fees and meds are very reasonable. Honestly the best clinic ever!!! Every time I take buster here all the staff is fun and friendly!! I have a pitbull and most people judge or get scared but they are unbelievably nice to him and do everything they can for him. A week ago my buster got hurt and I had to take him to an emergency vet and had to get surgery that place was terrible so after I took him here and they fixed him up way better and didn't charge me for them fixing his stitches and bandage! Well, my dog Delilah decided to to eat through my pill bottle and ate 4-6 pills of my Lexapro. I was freaking out called Fischer (my mom takes her 3 doggies here) and they told me to bring her in ASAP. I brought her in in around 10 am, and they gave her medicine to throw up and wanted to observe here more. So I had to leave her, and it made me very sad however I knew she was in good hands! I picked up back up around 5 pm and they told me she was good and showed no signs of toxicity. Thanks for helping my baby girl! She's my everything(: I will be coming back! read more

I was visiting New Braunfels and needed a vet. My niece brings her little dog here and recommended it. Wow! It is the most impressive vet clinic! My chi-minpin mix has terrible allergies and no one could seem to get them under control. I brought her here and they said that the dose of medicine was wrong. We changed the dosage and - after asking a few questions and listening to the answers - they suggested that she may be allergic to chicken. Sure enough! She's not scratching herself til she bleeds anymore. My little cream puffs (5lb chi and 11 lb chi-minpin) will be visiting for their annual checkup and meds soon. I have a vet where I live (4 hours away) for appointments that can't wait. Otherwise, I bring them here. read more

Other energy Vet wanted almost 1,000 to run a bunch of test so I decided to wait one more day and take her to Fischer Veterinary which is her normal vet. I've been a customer here for a while and have brought all three of my animals in for care, spent well over $2k so far between each animal. I wouldn't recommend this vet. They do give good care, IF you can actually get them on the phone and squeeze into an appointment slot. They're way over booked for their patient capacity, and now I'm stuck with a sick dog, who I was told today, 8/12/23, that wouldn't be able to be seen until mid September. How is it okay to ask that a sick dog suffer for that long? She's in pain and peeing all over my house. I explained to the receptionist at Fischer vet that I really need them to work with me on a Saturday appointment this time, due me having a 12 day old newborn, and I cannot wrangle the baby and dog into the car, and then into the vets office, I ONLY HAVE HELP ON SATURDAY! I have made three calls about this issue this week, and expressed this to them every single time. However, I was met with an uncaring response to wait until September. No alternative options. No empathy for my dog. Every single other time that I've brought a pet in I've taken time out of my work day to bring them in during the week to accommodate Fischer Vet's schedule, which was not easy, as my job is not understanding about time off for pets, but I did it anyway. Now that I absolutely need their help and I'm asking for my first Saturday appointment in the history of me being a customer, and I'm just simply told no!?!?! Well that is just crappy, and I'm sad to say that I'll no longer be a customer at Fischer vet. A month ago my cat was sick, and it took 5 calls over the course of a week to get them on the phone and schedule an appointment for him. I was about to have to drive over there to make an appointment in person (which I shouldn't have to do), when they answered the phone on my last ditch effort call. Three years ago, I moved to NB and my pug stopped walking with her back legs all together. Her entire young life, I had been told she had hip displasia. When I took her to Fischer, within an hour I was given a true prognosis with X-rays and a check up. She had suffered spinal chord damage because of a misdiagnosed slipped disc from another vet. The doctor was patient and spoke to me in a manner that was calming. They put her on pain medicine (as needed), and suggested where I could buy a doggie wheelchair. Six months after that my other pug started to display some really bizarre symptoms. Immediately, they were able to ascertain that she was, more than likely, suffering from a brain tumor, meaning I had to make a big decision. The doctor (a different one) was loving and hugged me after taking my dog's body away. The prices are always reasonable, but the part that makes this place amazing is the CARE. They truly do CARE! I now live in San Antonio and drive to NB to continue my pug's care and boarding. She loves this place and feels like a superstar! read more

I am very impressed at the level of care and thoughtfulness the staff at Fischer Vet clinic gave my old girl, Candy. We adopted her just three months ago and tried to give her a great end of life, we didn't know how fast she would go downhill. When we were visiting friends in New Braunfels and she needed attention, Fischer Vet staff were very helpful and saw her right away. Unfortunately she was too far gone and they helped her pass to the rainbow bridge. What touched me the most was receiving the sweet card signed by the staff and a special paw print from our precious family member that I will cherish. Best vet in New Braunfels. Dr Avon (Aven?) is my favorite, but everyone there is great. The head front desk lady is a bit no-nonsense, but very helpful and professional. These guys have done me right time and again. I once brought in an injured stray and they fixed her up at half price for me. I brought in an injured bird and they did the works for free. I would recommend these folks above any others, anywhere. And they are very reasonable in pricing. I easily paid 3 times as much in New Orleans. read more

This is honestly a truly great clinic. I recently had to let go of my best friend and they were so sweet and understanding. They even tried steroids and monitoring to see if we could get his spinal function back and when it did not work they refused to let us pay for them. The cost for his stay, euthanasia, and gorgeous urn box was incredibly reasonable and they even sent a card with the box. This is not a review I would ever have wanted to write but I'm SO glad they were there for me. read more

Excellent vet clinic!! I highly recommend. I brought my dog Daisy (a foster fail/rescue) here for heartworm treatment after SA Pets Alive couldn't treat her (they were super disorganized and never had a vet or the right medicine we needed). I am happy to say she is heartworm negative! They took excellent care of her and remembered us by name. Daisy still needs some training but they praise her and give her treats for being a "good girl." I was also given a Good Samaritan discount when Dr.Fisher heard she was a rescue. They are very reasonably priced as well, and we will take all of our animals here from now on. I really can't say enough good things about the staff and vets. read more
