If I could give this clinic more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. My family has been bringing our pets here for over 10 years, and we have always seen Dr. Rierson. He is truly amazing. He's incredibly knowledgeable, honest, and you can tell he genuinely cares about the animals he treats. One thing I really respect is that he never pushes unnecessary medications or treatments just to make money -- he always does what's truly best for the pet. Yes, the clinic can get busy at times, but that's what happens when you have a team that people trust. The staff is always kind, professional, and communicates well. Working with animals means emergencies happen and some appointments take longer than expected. If that were your pet in the room needing extra care, you wouldn't want your doctor to rush just because someone else is waiting. I always try to remember that some pet parents may be receiving the worst news of their lives in those rooms. A little patience and kindness goes a long way. This clinic has taken care of my family's pets for years, and I wouldn't trust anyone else. I will gladly wait however long it takes to see such an amazing doctor and team. read more

This is my first year owning a Dutch rabbit and I was in need of exotic care. I found this business online and thought I give it a try. When I walked in I was welcomed with smiling faces ! Very kind staff who assisted me on my first visit. I met with Dr.Jones and her staff and it was wonderful my bunny put up a fight and they were so gentle and kind with her well .... He .... found out I didn't have a female but a male very important to do check up friends haha. A wellness check was $60 which I thought was appropriate. We were able to schedule a neuter appointment and I'm very excited. I'm positive we are in great hands. read more

Everyone was friendly and helpful. The clinic was very clean and super cute. We felt comfortable and welcomed. The vet we had was Dr. Burleson. Very intelligent , kind, caring and gentle. The techs were sweet , kind and very helpful , also knew their stuff. We were impressed with everything. Our puppy got her vaccines and we left. Unfortunately, she had a bad pain reaction. So we called and they told us to come back immediately. They gave her a good check, pain meds and the tech was so helpful. We love this clinic. A few days after my 1/3 failure to obtain assistance from this entity and informing them I would have to seek help elsewhere (all efforts via phone, text, email - no face to face, since I live in PA). I found I had been charged $100 for my futile efforts to obtain staff assistance in my efforts to obtain needed documentation. They rescinded the charge after intervention by a relative whose multiple pets provide them with good recompense. I doubt the owner Vets would countenance such behavior if they were aware. read more

It has taken me a few months to write this updated review. We were loyal fans of Creek View for several years. Easily spent thousands on vet care, until one day, one of our furbabies passed away at Creek View. I was so disappointed with how they handled our cat's passing, that I have vowed to never return to Creek View. I have also told all of my friends, some who also used to use this veterinary clinic, to go elsewhere. Our cat went in sick, which I was well aware. She was sitting upright, but wouldn't eat. She was responsive and even tried her hardest to come to her magical clicker, but was refusing treats. We dropped her off at around 0700, and no update til about 1000. Then, there was an apparent 2 hour lunch involved per the receptionist, and a sudden decline began to unfold. My husband came and got me from work, crying, telling me of how sorry he was, that my sweet Sugar was now on her side and the end was near. Upon arrival, we called, as everything was curbside still. It took over 45 minutes to bring us back. It seemed like forever, and I was so afraid she would pass before I got the chance to tell her how much I loved her. We then learned they had actually forgot about us and did apologize, and walked us to a room. We were told she was unresponsive, pupils fixed with eyes open, gums pale and dry, skin cold, alive with crackly fluid overload sounding breaths. At one moment I was told she didn't know who I was, no pain, to the next that she was feeling pain and a review of options given. They left us to think about everything, with no answers given, with the door to our room open. They peeped in a number of times to see if we had made a decision yet, then as I began to feel her breaths get fewer and further between, I was hoping to get someone into the room. I knew I couldn't cope with feeling her last breath in my arms. With an attitude of..why the hurry now, the tech and vet proceed in and immediately ask for all money upfront before anything could be done for my precious baby. I was crying, my husband was crying, so the tech then proceeded to dig through my husband's wallet for the $900 dollar payment they were expecting. Then, once paid, the vet came in to put our baby out of her pain. I turned my head and expressed how I didn't want to witness what was happening while my husband was front and center. Despite this, the vet then walked us through every medication she was giving and it's effects. I am an ER nurse so she basically narrated where I could see without looking. As I cried harder and deeper, the vet said "it's ok, it's just saline". I cannot believe, even months later how poorly this was all handled. As if the death wasn't hard enough, I have to cope with all the surrounding events and unanswered questions. I called the days following hoping to get some sort of closure as to what happened and to express our disappointment, and we received not 1 single phone call back. My heart goes out to anyone who may have had to endure this same situation. Not only was our baby's death unexpected, but it was tragic and handled in such a profoundly inhumane and unsympathetic manner. All of our animals have been transferred from Creek View, and though they once took such wonderful care of us, I recommend you doing the same. read more

If you are looking for a vet who listens to your needs and acts on them, look elsewhere. I have been using Creekview for several years but will not be returning. I brought my aged ferret in because I felt that the insulinoma he had been fighting had made his quality of life such that he should be free from it and pass on. I have said goodbye to many pets in my time, who are much closer to my heart than most people. I verified with the tech on the phone prior to arriving that I only needed them to administer the shot to help him sleep and that I would be with him until he passed. After that, I would leave the treatment room we were in. I didn't need any company or assistance and I would not tie up a room they would need for others for very long. She understood and stated they would have to give him the shot in "the back" and then return him to me. I wanted to be with him, you see, to tell him it was okay to go. That he is loved and ensure that he was not with strangers in his last moments in earth. In his final moments they failed me miserably. Everything seemed according to plan until they did not return with him for 10 minutes. To me, half an eternity. When the tech returned he was in a BOX like he was being shipped parcel post. I stammered "where is he" and was told he is already gone, that they had given him "the gas" and that due to him being "an exotic" they had to do it this way. I have NEVER had any vet treat any of my ferrets with this kind of off-handed, callous disregard for their final moments or for mine. The decision was taken from me and ignored either purposely or through ignorant miscommunication between the staff. It is more than unjust. It is cruel and highly insensitive. I have spent the past several days not just mourning him but asking forgiveness to his spirit to understand that this was not how it was supposed to happen. That I was supposed to be there to say goodbye and console him and tell him everything would soon be okay for him. That he would be able to run and play and see his brothers and sisters, all our dogs and cats and family. Instead I got my sweet boy wrapped in plastic and shoved in a box too small to contain him. read more

This place is sneaky and adds multiple charges to your bill without telling you anything! Absolutely horrible! This was my first (and LAST) time using this place. I made it very clear on the phone when I scheduled the appointment that I wanted the price of everything I asked for, so they knew I was picky about money and services. I asked for a printed out quote before I dropped my dog off and I was okay with the price ($332) because it had everything he needed. When I go to pick him up they tell me my total is $500! I asked how it went up so much and they said that they also did blood work, gave him a bath, and did an ear cytology. I did NOT ask for any of those services! The front desk lady said it was "recommended", wouldn't common sense tell you that if it's only recommended and not required that you should call the owner before doing it? I guess these people don't seem to have any common sense. When the technician called me to tell me when I could pick up my dog she said they gave him a bath and I said okay. Again, I'm a new patient and didn't know if that was part of the wellness exam. I want to reiterate I NEVER asked for that, but they did it anyway. The last thing they added was an ear cytology. I asked for a simple ear cleaning, not once did I ever say that his ears were a problem for him. The ear cytology was basically a test to see if there was any bacteria or infection, and it came out negative. Why? Because his ears weren't bothering him! I just wanted a good cleaning. This is a horrible business and the owner should feel embarrassed for how this place is operated. They are slimy and sneaky, it's absolute chaos inside, and the customer service is terrible. Absolutely no transparency. Save your money and take your pet elsewhere. read more

I'm so glad I found Creek View! We had to neuter the family weenie dog, and they were able to squeeze him in for a next-day appointment. The cost was about average for the area. I probably called 7-9 vets in New Braunfels, and the average range for the procedure was $280-450. We paid in the $300-range. I liked that creek view's price included meds and a follow up appointment, but we actually didn't need the follow up because our little guy healed so quickly! No cone of shame needed either. read more

The two veterinarians we have seen (with two different pets) were competent. The technicians who worked with those vets were competent. That is the end of competency. The front end staff are not competent at all for running a successful clinic. Owners are required to ask for refills 24 hours in advance. After the 24 hours have passed, we assume medications will be ready. We were wrong. First excuse was "There are no technicians to verify the medications." After telling the staff to outright cancel the order, we received a call back a while later saying "The Dr will be in to approve the medication to be filled and you can pick it up in an hour." What exactly is done within the 24 hours prior?? Nothing. Wouldn't the doctor have already approved the refill? Wouldn't the medication have already been processed and verified? We were completely appalled, as our pet will have the remain on these medications for life. We had no outstanding balances. We had followed up on the recheck appointment. It shouldn't be so hard to get refills, especially when you follow their requirements. Secondly, if you take your pet to a different clinic, do not expect this establishment to send your pets records. Even if the new clinic calls, they will be told "We do not have permission to release the records. The owner will have to call." And when they do call, they will be placed on an immediate hold that low end averages waiting 8-10 minutes for someone to answer. I work for an extremely busy veterinary hospital and at no time do we answer the phone and ask to immediately place someone on hold. Nor do we make a client jump through impossible hoops to get life sustaining medications for their pets. It's called Quality of Care. *With that being said, I did follow up with the initial vet who cared for our pet and requested refills until their care could be transferred to my employment.* It's a shame. My partner's been coming to this clinic for decades. Never once have they been treated so poorly or disorganized. I'm not sure what happened to the original owners or management, but the new staff needs a very hard refresher course (or in the front end staff's case an introductory course) in client and pet care and communication. I appreciate what the veterinarians have done for my pets, but at the same time, you want your pets doctor and staff to work with you, not against you. There are plenty of other high quality clinics whose staff are eager to help and not just reading off a list of verbatim excuses as to why they couldn't accommodate your requests. You will most likely be able to get into this clinic for an initial appointment. If it's a one and done situation, you'll be fine. If your pet requires ongoing or lifetime therapy, rethink your choice. read more

Great pet care... HOWEVER.... terrible about upfront quote for services! Asked for quote for cat neuter and declaw. I was quoted $200 plus $50 for vaccines. I signed papers acknowledging exactly what services they would provide. After my kitty had procedure and was brought to me to go home was a different story. I was presented with a $430 bill! Wow! Not at all what I was quoted or what I expected. I was told it was for other necessary care such as an antibiotic shot and medication to take home for pain etc...... I'm really disappointed in the lack of transparency! Make sure you get a written complete quote before care here! read more

My dog is on daily medication for seizures that she cannot miss. If she does, she can have breakthrough seizures and end up in the hospital to be stabilized. My husband and I switched to Creek View when we moved from San Marcos to New Braunfels, but her former vet was still filling her med as she still had a script on file at Walgreens. I should have been more diligent in checking on how many refills my little girl had left, but I dropped the ball. I called Walgreens for a refill and realized I was out. I called Creek View to ask if they could fill the medication and I was told they could not unless they had a script from her previous vet. I have sent them her records from her previous vet on 3 occasions and each time they said they didn't have anything on file, including last week when we were there for her wellness check. I was put on hold, and when they came back, they said they found the records. They said they don't work with outside pharmacies and needed to look and see if the med I needed was a special order which could take until Monday. I explained she was going to be out on Friday evening, which would mean she would miss 6 doses. Missing even one dose can be an emergent situation causing her to have horrible back-to-back seizures. I asked if they could please call an emergency refill to any pharmacy, just enough to get us through the weekend. They would not and stated again, they do not work outside pharmacies. I asked if they could please give me any suggestions or help so we wouldn't end up in the hospital this weekend and they had nothing to offer. I am absolutely shocked and disgusted that they couldn't do anything to help, knowing this was an emergency and leaving my baby unmedicated and in a very dangerous situation. Again, I know I should have been more diligent in keeping track of how many refills were left, but the fact that they were willing to let her go unmedicated for 6 doses knowing how crucial it was for health is appalling. I called my former vet and they were able to schedule an appointment for her tomorrow and she will have her med refilled before her evening dose. They were wildly sympathetic and in disbelief that a vet would not make any accommodations to help avoid a traumatic and potentially fatal situation. **UPDATE** Got the pills for my baby from our former vet and everything is ok. However, they told me during the appointment that she didn't receive her Bordetella Vaccine from Creek View on her wellness check the week prior, which was due, addressed cloudiness in her eyes for agining, and disagreed with Creek View's recommendation that she begin monthly shots for arthritis at this time. If you are put on hold at Creek View you will hear the advertisement for the arthritis shots. Doctors certainly have different opinions, but this situation makes me question if it was necessary or a way to add an unessecary in office injection for $64 per month. Please be consider taking your pet elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately I'd like to EXTREMELY advise not to go to this place, we came in on a weekend emergency. My dog had taken a fall and was in pain. Although they seemed nice and even thru all the diligence and questions I got answered... I was very wrongly diagnosed with a sprained paw. We left with pain meds and in my gut I knew it wasn't right. I made an appointment with our regular vet, about a week went by and we were running low on meds. I called to try and get some more since we were less than two days of seeing our regular. The staff were rude and inconsiderate of what I was dealing with, explaining meds take about 24hrs to fill! How ridiculous is that?! We go to see our regular, xrays are redone, immediately she is speechless with how long he's been with his paw like this, she shows the xrays they sent over and the ones she took. They didn't even take proper views of all sides top or bottom. If they would of properly xrayed his paw all angles they would of clearly seen the damage, he had dislocated his paw,tore the ligaments and fractured his carpels. We had to schedule emergency surgery to get major repair done including a metal plate and fusing of the joints. My baby, suffered longer than he had to,due to the negligence. To say I want an apology and a refund is an understatement. DONT GO HERE!!! Your baby deserves to be in better hands! read more

BEWARE--Well the puppy survived being neutered here. Had bloody diarrhea the night we brought him home. Called this "clinic", was told to bring him in. They charged us an "emergency call" and for a "regular" office visit. Declared him 'dehydrated' and announced he had outside calls, gave him a shot and instructed us to call in two days when the office was open again. We live 20miles or so away. We called around all 3 county's to hopefully find and book procedures for not 1-4 dogs. This same procedure I have been threw years ago 2 different puppies different Dr. that to my assumption retired after the last procedure he preformed on our now puppies father.... We received more that one referral and we're basically creek view was the only vet that we could even book the procedure and considering we had a short window to have it done we threw All our money into Dr Rierson. I could go on and on about issues I saw threw the whole business but I personally just had to keep telling myself don't get excited shit happens!!!! Like I said 4 puppies and I have been threw the exact same procedure 2 other times so I have a standard to hold this experience to. Now let me tell you what a pretty penny they value there work. I believe 4,000 + between all 4 puppies. Never have I ever been forced to leave my puppies after a surgery I always picked my puppies when anestesia was wearing off normally 2 hours or so after surgery was completed. This creek view clan not only forced us to leave all 4 puppies they made sure to charge us up as much as they thought they would get away with. The evening before surgery no puppies could eat or drink before 10:00pm so they didn't. My puppies eat twice a day and truthfully they need it if I don't stay on schedule every 6-8 hours or so they look to thin. I made very clear to the vet that I thought we were off to a good relationship. That my puppies are starving so to make sure they eat asap...... also that since they insisted that they keep my puppies overnight.( no cameras no live staff member onstat might I add because I asked and even offered to throw a camera on them of my own considering all the money they seem to steal and all the animals they board on a daily basis I wouldn't think they already had a system in place to at least check in on the animals they are supposed to be feeding and keeping safe while there being boarded overnights. I was not ok with the force boarding and the pretty charge for it. It is also important to express my husband is the one who manages payment of most especially something like this is top worry of his. He paid the deposit to book the appointment and made sure to have them charge his card for the finale charge. Once all procedures get tallied up. Because he insisted!!! To pay in full..... At the drop off of my puppies I discussed one of my puppies needing a additional procedure that was definitely important to add. I clarified with Dr. R that after everything the most we would be charged was $200 at pick up!! I agreed no worries I knew I didn't have to throw a huge number at my husband because he had to hussle and crunch to prepare for the whole bill. No call after surgeries update nothing. The next morning i new my puppies would be wild and out considering there puppies that have never been shoved in a small cell before. Along with all the other things they were going threw. I new they would be upset by the puppies terms. 9:30 I finally got threw the phone line and they kept insisting my puppies stay with them till 5 pm day after surgery sure enough it wasn't even 11:00 am and they were ready for me to come pick up.I finished up what I had to at home and headed out to rescue my lil pups!!!! No idea it was really that bad by there experience!!! I arrived a lil after 2pm it was very busy. I sat and waited for over 1 1/2 hours listening to my most vocal puppy bark non stop I could tell it had been going on for a long time. So after about a 1 1/2 hours I finally am called to desk and that was for them to collect payment. I said ok 200??? Or was it a lil more??? She says no ma'am it say on this invoice u still ow $ 750!!! I said for what??? And then she explained that she would have the supervisor office manager talk to me momentarily to discuss payment options. I immediately called my husband and he confirmed there mistaking that as long as I didn't add a bunch of stuff just the one puppies addition procedure the most should be owed is $300. The supervisor so she called herself was a real peach let me tell you. I informed her that there was a pay in full i even confirmed with Dr. And front desk when I left from dropping my puppies off!!! At the most maybe $300 that we were able and prepared to pay but in no way can we pop out another $750. She so arrogantly reapplied with then she was calling the police on me for theft of services!! I was shocked because I knew that wasn't even the right way to handle our situation. But replied she should talk to my husband he was at work and would have to be over the phone. I couldn't stand being in that place any longer listening to my puppies bark whine and wale especially after my vocally demanding puppy heard my voice and knew I was there. read more

We started going to this Vet/Kennel almost 3 years ago. All was fine. Until... This summer we boarded our 2 dogs while we dealt with the passing of my father in law. Both have been boarded their entire lives 8 and 9 years old 2-3 times a year. This time was no exception we dropped them off both in good health and fine. A week later I return back to New Braunfels and go to pick them up and both dogs look emaciated. Nobody from the clinic mentions anything to me about it. I was in a hurry so I loaded them up in the truck and drove straight home. Once I get home one of them will not get out of the car. She can barely walk a few feet with out her legs completely giving out and she wouldn't eat. She was a 65lb catahoula. I immediately load her back up in the truck and call the clinic to let them know what's going on, they told me I would have to make an appointment, I told them that it was not an option and that I had just picked them up 20 minutes ago. They said"then I guess you can bring her back but she won't be seen today and you might possibly have to pay for boarding". After 3 days and 3 different diagnoses 3 different treatments and no success and almost no communication on their behalf our pup passed away under their care. It turns out that they knew she hadn't eaten over 72 hours while she was being boarded. Did they call to notify us? Nope! Did they let me know my dog couldn't hardly move? Nope! If you care about your pet. Stay away!!! read more

Rierson recommended that I have both of my dog's eyes removed as quickly as possible. After a second and third opinion, this was the most extreme and unneeded solution to the problem and with a more conservative approach elsewhere, the problem was fixed. Let me explain as objectively as possible. My dog was born 100% blind. At 1.5 years, she started to have some changes to her right eye--the globe was larger and there were color changes as well but her behavior was still exactly the same--very happy with plenty of appetite. I took her to Rierson who took her pressures with a tonopen, which read 11 and 24. He recommended we take both eyes out now due to the amount of pressure that was going to keep increasing (normal is less than 20). Naturally, I wanted to get 2nd and 3rd opinions so I took her to Chisholm trail with Dr. Havemann who started treating her with eye drops to reduce pressure among a couple of other recommended medications (Rierson said it was too late for these to be effective). Two months later I took my dog to a vet optometrist in San Antonio where pressures were taken again. They read 11 and 14, a significant pressure drop and no surgery needed. Please take this into consideration when having your pet treated by Rierson, or anyone for that matter. Get second and third opinions! read more

I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else! We've been coming here for years. Anytime the fur babies need shots or attention we bring them to Creek View. The staff and physicians are incredibly gentle and kind. Often, I pop in to ask them questions on certain behaviors or ailments that my animals are going through and they happily offer consultation. Another bonus to stopping in is seeing all their lazy animals...so cute! read more

I got my cat (Manson) nutered today and after the procedure was done they didn't want me to touch my cat at all because he was angry which I thought was odd. Once I took him out of the cage when I got home, Manson bolted out hissing really loud I was scared! Turns out I found that there were surgical clamps on where he got the surgery!!! I was so mad and shocked because this place is so expensive. When I took him back the doctor was so rude to us because at the fact that he had to go back to his work to check on him PLUS asked to return the surgical clamps back because he needed them. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! And he wasn't taking anything seriously, we got nothing out of what happened to my poor cat. NEVER GO HERE!!!! They just care about your money!!!!!!!! read more

I took my OES there for a bladder problem 8 days ago. The vet gave her meds and said to touch base in 2 days to re-evaluate the dosage as we don't want her on that amount longterm. I've called everyday since that 2 day later window and I've STILL not gotten a call back to adjust dosage!!!! When I talk to the receptionist (daily by the way) she just says he got the message and will return your call after he sees his patients! NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!! I will NOT take my fur babies back to them. read more

We have used this vet....for eight years. Dr. Brotze is our doctor. He has been a caring, smart and approachable man. He is like part of our family. We have two golden Retrievers whom go twice a year. He has given us sound and useful advice including natural remedies to promote our dog's well being. I have brought my 3 Labrador Retrievers to this clinic for about 2 years now. They always get you in quickly for whatever reason and the prices compared to some other the other veterinary clinics are much better. The front staff is always very nice and helpful. The extended hours also are great for people that work. I have seen most of the veterinarians there and they are all very nice and knowledgeable. Recently my oldest dog got very sick. He was close to death. I brought him in and he was immediately taken back and started on supportive treatment. He was treated by Dr. Michael Doherty. He was excellent. He quickly diagnosed the problem which required him to perform surgery. Because of his knowledge, skill, and care my dog is alive now. I cannot thank Dr. Doherty and the wonderful staff at Creekview enough for saving and caring for my dog. Because of their kind hearts and healing hands my dog is feeling much better and recovering well. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone searching for 5 star care. read more

The staff and Doctor are always so friendly! The exam rooms are clean and spacious. My micro mini pig loves everyone she comes in contact with and is very comfortable there. We have had her hooves trimmed multiple times and had her spayed, all great experiences, every time! I have called Dr. Rierson after hours and he is very responsive and helpful. We LOVE this clinic. We moved to Houston and still bring our dog here if it's at all possible. Dr. Rierson is so patient, kind, and takes such great care of our sweet boy. My dogs have always came to Creek View. My last experience was with my dog who was in labor for more than 20 hours. I brought her in to be checked out. The staff and the Doctor were kind and helpful. My dog was in good care when I had to leave her. My dog ended up needing a c-section to deliver her puppies. My uncle wasn't too happy about the price, but was relieved that our dog would be saved. read more

We see Dr. DeCola and I adore her. She has a calming effect on our Bella who is very nervous when going to the vet. The techs that we have encountered have been so accommodating and sweet. I will say we have not met the other Doctors whom I am sure are very good as well however, Dr. DeCola does not have her name on the building and perhaps she is new. I would like to see her name on the building too and if she isn't a permanent member I would like to know as we will follow her wherever she may go. I don't have those detail but hope she is staying. If she is let's get her name up on the building please so when I send my friends they will know they have arrived at the correct location. It's confusing is all I can say. read more

Dr.Rierson and tech Vicki came to our rescue this past week. Our longhorn steer got hit by a porcupine and couldn't eat or drink. They both came out the same day and were very friendly, helpful and caring for our animal. Dr. Rierson stated they did not do cattle anymore, but came out anyway due to his experience with them before. We were referred to Dr. Doherty at Creek View for having our two prairie dogs neutered. While there were some minor miscommunications with the front office in scheduling and producing estimates, the team was very helpful, the surgery deftly handled, and the cost was both in line with the estimates and hundreds of dollars less than quoted by comparably seasoned exotic vets. When one of our boys messed with his wound, the team at Creek View was super responsive in addressing our concerns via phone/email, and saw them again (another veterinarian, a very personable older gentleman whose name escapes me) without charge to ensure there wouldn't be complications healing. A+; these guys are worth the 75-minute drive for us, highly recommended for exotic rodents. read more
