Got out on the water in Maine and could not call faster than half speed. Call the owner, Chris, from the water, and he told me that " your linkage is all messed up and we told you about that and we can't get the parts. It's an old motor and that's the best we can do". I brought it back and have them give me the part number so I can get the parts on eBay and miraculously it was repaired by the owner. Where is another mechanic it worked on it previously. When I asked him the condition of the impeller. He said it had a curl to it. This is completely normal. not worn , so not really very confident and him either. not likely done correctly the first time buyer less experienced mechanic. But given the story about an old motor. her dad about 10 years ago also when I brought it in for service, but it wasn't running well. Giving back to me not running well with the story that it was "an old motor." turned out the coil pack bolts loose and it wasn't grounding properly. I tighten them back down. It runs fine. Won't be going back there because I don't appreciate dishonesty and inept service

They ended up doing $430 worth of work with out consulting me first. THEN said it was not the right motor for the boat. When confronted they said I didn't communicate what I wanted. I said I did in email, phone and in person. They told me the oil was fine then finally admitted they never looked at it and wouldn't look at it when I was there. I was told by Adam that $430 isn't much money. It is to some people and it is if I'm not going to keep the boat or at least the motor. He refused to apologize or take any responsibility. The facilities are very basic, with the shop/chandlery seemingly randomly stocked, and the amenities (restrooms, shower) rather grim. The docks are in bad shape and quite rickety, mostly close inshore. That said, the staff have an outstanding reputation for doing the basics of keeping a boat in shape and a boat owner happy. I have heard two different stories of the staff doing rescue-tows and refusing even to be tipped for slip-owners. The boat yard is right next to the slips and the ramp (there is no winch, note) so if you have a small boat, want to go cheap, and convenient, this seems like a good option. The river location is between locks 7 and 8, more or less halfway between Freeman's Bridge and the Rexford Bridge.
