Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Saratoga Springs - Time for that new drain line

Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Saratoga Springs

It was a one man job than only took about 30 minutes. I'd give them 5 stars except for the price, which was not unreasonable for the time spent. I assume I was paying for both technicians when it was a job for only one. I will use this company again, though.

I put out a Yelp request to get estimates on some work for my home. As Yelp does, it contacted…read moremultiple companies. Mr. Rooter was the first to call me, and schedule for an estimate. I mentioned that we are selling the house and we were looking to repair an issue with the water pressure for the new owners. The plumber that came by called me and told me his recommendations. Two days later, I received an estimate for much more than what was recommended on the phone, and an invoice for the estimate itself. I responded questioning that estimate charge, because it wasn't mentioned in advance, and why there was work on the estimate that we were told we wouldn't need. The woman that responded was nice with her explanations, but it still doesn't sit right with me to charge for an estimate, or to not say that ahead of time. A week later, she called to follow up, and I told her because it was a Yelp thing, someone else was taking a look for us and I would be in touch if we wanted to continue with them; or I would pay the invoice for the estimate online. The other company that came told us everything Mr. Rooter had added to their estimate was not needed. If those things were a problem, we would have no water. So it would have been a waste of money. Two weeks later, after not reaching out to me again to follow up, she called my realtor and threatened to put a lien on our house, and interfere with the sale, if we don't pay the $200 estimate fee! That is extremely unprofessional! and $200 is very high, considering it cost your company nothing in parts, etc, and your employee was only at my home for 16 minutes. I am far from happy with my experience. Tyler, their plumber, was great! He seemed to know exactly what it was talking about, he was very nice on the phone and professional. But their office is a disaster and the customer service is a 1/10. To respond.. I never spoke tot Tyler over the phone regarding the bill, nor was I ever rude to him in any manner. I was never told in advance about any fees for estimates, so I would love to hear the recorded call you claim you have. I also responded to the email with the invoice for the estimate that I was unaware of a charge for it, and the response I received was "yes, that was our failure to communicate." I also did not say I would be using the estimate in negotiations for my sale, so it was not a "real estate estimate." It was a homeowner trying to get work done on their home. And the work is the home needs IS being done, by someone else. You are simply unhappy that I got multiple estimates done, and chose someone else, which I have every right to do, whether I am selling the home or not. Good luck to you and your corporate business.

Issue re-occurred couple days later, and they came back under warranty, (N0-charge 2nd visit)and re-snake the line. Line remained clear for few days and then clog occurred once again. They came third time (charging me for another visit) re-snaked mainline and remained clear 2-3 days. Each visit, I was asking what is the cause, the technician was essentially uncertain but assured me was ok, at conclusion of each visit. No camera placed in line to diagnose. (They Said they didn't have with them- and if did have/use, would be several hundred dollar extra charge). When issue re-occurred for fourth time within 10 days, I finally wised-up and contacted another plumbing firm, who came out that same day, diagnosed issue (used camera) and cleared blockage that same day and performed needed repair the following day, digging and replacing trap in line. In nutshell, if all you need is snake job, Apex is capable to do this However, when I needed correct issue diagnosis and repair, they were of no help. Actually, They compounded the problem and home damage from excessive main line backups by not diagnosing and correcting the issue.

On the 15th of December, I noticed it backing up a little bit, into a corner of my basement. I called and had something set up for the following day, a Saturday. By Saturday, my whole basement was flooded, with a couple of inches of standing sewer water. Around 2 something I called to see when I would have someone out. The lady on the phone (who later claimed to be the owner) started getting rude with me, telling me she had tried to call me and I never returned her phone call. Long story short, she had been trying to call my husband's number, who is deployed. I tried to tell her numerous times that I had never given her his number. She tried to tell me at first that it was the number I gave her, then, it was the number on the caller ID (he is DEPLOYED WITH HIS PHONE). When I pointed this out to her and told her she must have been looking at the invoice she claimed she had never looked at that. (While on the phone setting up the appointment, she had asked "is this a good number to contact you back at?" I assumed she was asking about the number I was calling from. The ONLY way she could have gotten his number was from the invoice. I'm ashamed to say I let her get the best of me after her numerous lies. I yelled, right along with her. When she wouldnt listen to a word I was saying I hung up on her. When I learned she was next to the only one that could help me because the job was so big, I called her back and tried to make nice. She was extremely rude to me, yelled at me AGAIN, and hung up on me. Then she wouldn't answer my calls. Oh, and one of the calls she had been trying to make?... Was to inform me that I was outside of my 30 days, and that they were going to have to charge me. They would be able to "take SOME off, but not a lot because I was outside of my warranty). I was, but by a DAY when I had called her. I now have standing sewer water in my basement that won't be taken care of until Monday, by Roto Rooter. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to them for business.
