This is more like a three and a half star place but we had some definite issues with our recent visit. We drive from East of Indy to Rushville expecting a nice date night. The place was fairly busy, and the musician was setting up. We were seated at the bar because we were hungry and thought, in error apparently, that the service would be quicker. The Fish Moon beer was pretty good so we both got a glass of a lager type beer. The appetizer (poppers) were served fairly quickly and I thought they would good ... not too hot/spicy. Our order was a burger and catfish sandwich with onion rings. It was a really really long wait to get our food... we had been there for 90 minutes before the entree was delivered. Our bar seats were at the end of the bar... every time someone walked in or out of the kitchen (30 feet behind us) or anywhere near the bar the floor shook like there were elephants passing by.... it was unnerving. I was in Rush County in my quest to spend some time in each of the 92 counties in Indiana and "get a feel for" the respective communities. Part of that is to take a look at the county courthouse, their library system, and any notable natural spaces in the area. I also do some research on the restaurants, coffeeshops, bakeries or other signature spots that might be in the area. One such spot was Fish Moon Brewing. First off - great name. It's fun, quirky, and they used the moon motif throughout their space (pun intended). As for the restaurant itself, this is my kind of place. Open, with subdued lighting, and just enough of the moon paraphernalia to keep you interested without being overwhelming. It reminded me of a German beer hall - in a good way. I opted for the Portobello mushroom & Swiss burger, which had a rich flavor, and I didn't miss a bite. It was served up with their pub chips, which were just perfect. I had a wonderful beer, too, which was a twin berry and just the right blend of flavor. What's more, it worked well for the hot afternoon. I was a little confused about the beer selection, however. When I asked about what beers they offered, my server just listed them off. I generally like having an opportunity to take a look at a list and see if there is something I haven't tried before, especially when visiting for the first time. That would be my only critique: to have a current list of your beers and maybe a little description. All told, this is a gem for Rushville and it's placed in a great location. Definitely never disappointed when we go here. The food is always prepared very fresh! They only sell their beer which is the downfall why we do not eat here as often as we would like. Would love to have a full bar like most other breweries. We had Lindsay as a waitress and she was phenomenal even given the amount of tables she had! We will definitely be back! read more

I went to Fish Moon Brewing Company this evening to get a carry-out order. They have not officially opened their doors for dining in yet but they have been doing growlee purchases,, growler refills, and carry-out food recently. I went on their website to place my order and was told my order would be ready at 5:45. I called them to see if I come in the front door to pick up my order and they told me no to drive around back. I drove around back of the building and they had a tent out back with an overhead door open. I walked up to the gal who was at the cash register and she found my ticket by my last name. She said it was going to be a few minutes it wasn't ready yet, I was right on time for my order. I sat in my truck and waited for my order and it took another 21 minutes beyond 5:45. I did see on Facebook a post where the owner was apologizing for the long wait as they work on getting all of their processes down. My order consisted of 12 wings with the buffalo sauce and ranch on the side, the pub chips, chili queso dip, and the cowboy burger and onion rings. The pub chips were nice and crispy just as they should be and we had the chili queso to dip them in. My Cowboy Burger was over-cooked but the flavor was delicious with the bacon, barbecue sauce, onion ring, lettuce, red onion, and tomato on a brioche bun. I upgraded my side to onion rings and they were cooked crispy as well and were the thicker kind not the very skinny ones. So the hubby ate the chicken wings and said they were good and the Buffalo was a little bit spicy but not hot. They were not overcooked and they were good sized wings. When I went up and talked to the gal at cash register I asked about getting a growler filled with beer and they were out of growlers but I thought it was funny she still showed me the list of what they had on tap even though I couldn't have any :) Overall I would really give this three and a half stars today but given the circumstances and the fact they have not fully opened yet I went with the four. I think when they get fully opened this will be a good addition to our fair city of Rushville. read more

We found this gem a month or two ago and went back today. Food is amazing, beer is great and the atmosphere is awesome. Ps - bathrooms are BEAUTIFUL and there are shelves of games in the hallway for you to use while you hang with your friends. However... today the bartender was eating her own lunch behind the bar about 4 ft away from us, which was of itself generally unappealing, but then I watched her LICK HER FINGERS and pour us our next round of beers. No hand washing. Nothing. Come ON! It was super super gross. I mean we just coming out of a pandemic so you would think hygiene would be top of mind but apparently not. Employees should not be eating in front of guests while they are working and geez, if you do, go F'ing wash your hands!!! read more

Stopped in on my way home during a business trip, tried a taste of the RazWheat, and Willkie Wheat. Decided to get a howler of each. Enjoyed the beer. If I'm back in the area for business I hope to go back and try some other beers. read more

We have been here twice. The first time we were childless. Service was extremely slow but we were empathetic as everyone is understaffed right now. But they were also pretty rude. The food was good. The second time we went in not realizing is was 21+. The woman who told us that when we walked in was rude and snarky. Then, my husband went in to order to go since we couldn't dine in. The other woman was also so nasty to him as well. If you don't want people's business then close your doors and don't treat people like crap. read more

My black bean burger was delicious with a spicy cheese sauce and avocado on a pretzel bun. Their beer cheese was delicious with their homemade pub chips. Our only issue was the noise. The building is a rehabbed, old downtown space with nothing done to dampen the sound which caused it to be very echoing. read more

We ate at Fish Amon last night, they were moderately busy with only one waitress. We were seated promptly and ordered drinks and appetizers And they were very good! We ordered our food and then we waited 45 minu for our food, while other people came in after us and got their food first! And when we did get our food it was like warm to cold, especially the chicken sandwich! At this point the waitress avoided us and rushEd us out! We were very disappointed! read more

We went there for the first time last week, our bi-weekly "lets try a new brewpub" date. We shared a fried cheese, I had a Cowboy burger and my better half had a Mediterranean salad and we shared a flight of beers. The beers got to our table in just a couple of minutes and they were all quite good. Since we hadn't been there before we had no familiarity with their beers so we just let the server pick them and she chose well. Our Mozzarella sticks were only a couple minutes behind the beer and our meals arrived just as we finished the appetizer. My burger was great, hard to eat (needed to use the Guy Fieri "burger hunch") but worth the effort. And the fries were crisp and not at all greasy. The salad was fresh, crisp, tasty, you know... good. The place is CLEAN. Restrooms were spotless, tables and chairs clean. And was it a bit loud, yeah... it's a brewpub, they're supposed to be a bit echo prone. In all, for a startup brewpub where the owner(s) are learning everything from scratch they're doing a really good job. We'll be regulars. read more

We tried several beers and they were somewhat flat. The dark side of the moon did not have any carbonation. The pretzel bites were good.

This new local joint it worth the wait. Great food, try the Pub CheeseSteak and onion rings. Arrive early for the best service as they get busy quick!! Not a beer drinker but my husband said the dark stout was very tasty. Bar seating is seat yourself, pet friend in outdoor seating, and covid cautions. Nice to have a new local joint in town! read more
