Took the boat out from 9:30- 3 ish, we had a blast the people were very nice and the whole experience was easy going

Rented 21' deck boat for a week in Duck Key, FL DO NOT, repeat DO NOT take anything they say unless they show you the written instruction in the contract AND TAKE YOUR OWN PHOTO OF BOAT, INTERIOR, TOP AND ESPECIALLY THE PROP. They charged us $196 to replace an already beat up prop they said we damaged. Best of all they said WE SHOULD have taken a photo before we took possession and they TELL their customers to do that. NOT TRUE. Probably nice folks but not happy with their treatment. Maybe THEY should take a video of equip and prop WITH the customer upon taking possession to prevent any dispute. But that would weaken their ability to keep there boats like new at renters expense. read more

We called on short notice. Ray and his team accommodated us right away. We met Ray at the marina we went over some basics. He shared his knowledge of the area and places that may interest us. Gave us a map and some good advice and we were on our way. We ended up hanging out at the sandbar. Then went out to west turtle shoal and then finished out at coffins patch. The boat ran great. It was a great day. We ended up seeing a pod of dolphins, a couple sea turtles and a spotted eagle ray. And about a million fish while snorkeling at coffins patch. We will be back. Like I said, dishonest. Our customers left because of weather. This was the same week it snowed in New Orleans so it's not hard to cross reference. There were 4 small craft advisories during our "rental". We tried our best but even the Coast Guard said we shouldn't boat! Ownership is quick to point to their contract but ignores their advertised claim to consider small craft advisories as cause for a refund. But this isn't the only reason you should avoid Fish 'N Fun. We have a text from Fish 'N Fun saying we could return the boat and would get a refund. Why wouldn't we believe them.... it was dangerous to be on the water! It was only after we returned the boat that they refused. So they take the boat back, close out the rental and then offer some useless future credit, not a refund. Classic tourism setup, "If you're back within the year, you can use your credit!". If this works for your situation, consider renting from this company but you should still anticipate them finding a way to double-cross you. Get a copy of your contract! We still have not received ours as promised. BTW, I love the owner's suggestion we live here and will be here longer. This is again wrong but not relevant to a review. Note, however, in ownership's world view, the customer is wrong. The customer is not entitled to any benefit of the doubt. They make assumptions about the customer's situation to justify their self-interest. It was a slow period for rentals (because of weather!) so they choose to squeeze customers. Again, you've been warned! I must make one more point so future customers are aware. Fish 'N Fun gives discounts on extended rentals due to weather (their words, not mine). I our case, that was $50 less/day * 8 days = $400. That's less than 2 days. Like I said there were 4 small craft advisories during the 8-day "rental" period. Their math is self-serving and basically just wrong. Again, this is what greedy, unscrupulous companies do which is why I'm sharing our experience. Ask yourself if you really want to enter into a contract with a company owned by someone with this world view. It will stain your entire vacation. Plenty of better companies to choose from! read more

My wife and I were in town and looking to get out on the water for the day. We looked at jet ski rentals but they were pricy for a few hours. We looked at renting a boat and came across fish and fun located at the duck key marina. Friendly staff, through documentation making sure everything is safe and right prior to departing to the open water. Staff took the time to educate us of the dos and don'ts and cool places to check out. Supplying us with everything need to be safe . The price you couldn't beat for a full day of adventure. My husband rented the boat to take us around the Keys where he grew up. The process was simple and safety rules were explained. The owner quizzed my husband to make sure he knew what he was doing. It was a lot of information for me to retain, but luckily my husband knew what to do. Boat was clean and ran smoothly. we have come to the keys for the past 5 years. We have rented boats in the past. My husband reviewed this one online and took time to go speak to them. We got to the site and didn't see anyone. I told my husband I would call to see if anyone was there. The lady informed us that the salesman was busy with other people and the boat we seeked was already taken. No biggy. She proceeded to tell me what was available and I stopped her bc I know nothing about boats and my husband would talk to the salesman. She hung up on me!!!! Then the salesman peeped his head out and yelled man "I will be with you as soon as I'm done with my customer". ?? I let him know we weren't in an hurry. His and her actions were unwarranted and not business like. Would not recommend this place!!!! Ended out going to Pier 68. Everyone was wonderful. I have read their responses to anyone that is less as thrilled. They are condescending. Feeling that they are due so much respect from the customer. They feel that not every customer is important and that they can pick and service the public whenever they feel. Feel really sorry for a company where they are so unhappy. We should pray for them. I can expect a condescending response because this is how they are. Never any understanding. Just defensive. read more

My girlfriend and couldn't be happier with Fish 'N Fun and our boat, a 20ft Cape Horn center console. Prices were affordable and Captain Ray was very welcoming, attentive explaining all of the rules and helping us pick out bait. We showed up a bit late for our 8am rents and Ray politely explained he was just finishing up with another customer, then he briefed me and another gentleman at the same time. He made sure we were totally acclimated to our boat and navigation info. Perfect day at Sombrero reef, trolling about 4miles off shore and snorkeling. We'll be back!...David and Bea. read more

Great spot to rent your boat . Ray has great local knowledge and the boat was clean and well kept. They do take a big deposit in case you damage the boat but as long as you know what you're doing , it's no big deal. Cant wait to go back! read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE Worse experience I ever had renting a boat. The boat was a total POS and nothing like the pictures showed. Engine would stall every time you went to idle. Rudest CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever seen. Came out hollering because we had bought non ethanol somewhere else and apparently you HAVE to buy it from them (maybe they should have explained that), said we didn't know how to tie up a boat (which he re-tied and it looked like Mickey Mouse did it), wanted to charge because the Diver Down flag got lost (it was already destroyed and wouldn't have made it out another rental). RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE and save yourself the aggravation. read more

Great experience. If you want a nice simple boating experience this is the place. They were flexible when our plans changed. Boat we rented broke day before our arrival. They called and said they had a another option which was better. Ray was great with the rental and explanation of local rules and tips. We had a center console. Boats seem to be poorly maintained. We rented 2 boats consecutively to get us through the week. The first boat was a center console May Craft. The fuel guage did not read correctly so we ran out of fuel. Luckily, I didn't have snorkelers in the water or we might have drifted apart in the current. The live well didn't work and we had to tie the cowling on to keep it from falling off. The throttle was stiff/sticky making it difficult to operate at times. The second boat was a Sea Hunt Dual console. The fuel gauge didn't work at all, which was actually better than only partly working. As we pulled away from the dock we were told the motor needed to be kept above 800 rmps or it would over heat. We did our best, but it over heated multiple times making the boat unreliable. The second day the starter didn't work and had to be replaced which cost us a tide specific outing we planned. Ray really didn't offer to make up anything given the loss of a total day due to the mechanical problems. read more
