Everytime we go out he teaches us so much about fishing, the keys, marine life and makes it fun! His boat is pristine. Kevin does so much planning before your trip to make it as successful as possible with weather and ocean conditions . While you are out with him, he does not stop. From positioning the boat , baiting your lines and teaching you techniques for reeling in your catch to maximize your catches to the limit for a day! He even cleaned all our fish for us! What a day on the water. Kevin is a great guide. We caught a ton of fish and brought in enough for 3 meals. We could have kept more but that would be wasteful. We fished 5 to 6 spots and caught fish at every spot. We use different techniques per location and it was fun to learn new methods to catch fish. His boat and equipment are top notch. His ability to teach the youngest kids how to catch fish makes it enjoyable for everyone on board. No need to be a PHD in angling Kevin Will get fish in the boat and enough fish for a meal. Kevin , just a couple of things and I will not write anymore or respond back so feel free to right another novel of excuses. 1. There is a reason why you only get 5% of people that you take fishing write a review. It's a waste of their time and mine and you have no idea what you're doing, that's why I wount be writing anymore. Just want people to know what they will get if they book with you and hopefully you will actually listen this time and may get better and do your clients justice and be a good Captain. 2. You lost the sailfish because you had no clue of what you're doing and didn't listen. If you would have chased the fish when we told you to, we would have landed it and not got spooled. 3. I went on 3 other Charters while we were there, they all did awesome, one was half your age and did fantastic all three were awesome with my kids. These Captains were not condescending like you were the whole day. You are one angry Captain. If you would just acknowledge your screwups you would be a lot happier person and your clients would rebook with you and you would get better and more reviews. 4. My boys caught way more fish, fishing from the dock where we were staying than with you and better quality fish. You need to go out more often and find better places to fish like most captains do. 5. Your were 2 hours late because you screwed up, period. We were supposed to meet you at 8am, we started calling and texting you at 8:05am, the Marina also were calling you and texting you about 8:15am, you choose not to answer your phone or check your messages until about 9:15am. When you run a Bussiness you need to take responsibility and check your phone. We were getting messages from you 1 and 2 days before our charter making sure you were paid the balance. You choose to get another app for you Bussiness make sure it works and check your messages until you know it works. I could write about our horrible charter all day, just not worth it. I just want people to know what they will get if they book with you and hopefully you will learn from this as well and stop being condescending to people, especially kids, let them Have fun Kevin, stop being so angry, enjoy life be nice to people make it enjoyable for everyone. Today my family and I had the privilege of going fishing with Captain Kevin. He called us ahead of time to let us know that reef fishing (which is what I planned to do) was terrible in recent days, so he asked if we'd be up to changing our trip plans. I agreed, and I'm glad I did! He found the fish!!! Once we loaded up on dolphin he broke out the electric rod to try some deep dropping. We found one tile fish, but everyone had a great time. He is super knowledgeable , kind and a very hard worker! He comes to the boat well prepared with the proper baits and rigs. He is also excellent with all levels of fishing experience. Kevin is so amazing. He was so helpful and caring. We went with two other couples. I got so seasick but he kept checking on me while the others were fishing. Great family day on the water with Captain Kevin! I read all the great reviews and they are accurate. My wife and I went out fishing with our 4 kids aged 5,8,10 and 14 and we all came back with keeper fish for dinner. We booked all day charter from 8-4 and caught probably 100 fish! We requested to have lunch on a waterfront restaurant and Captain Kevin dropped us off and picked us up after he went out and caught more fresh bait. If you want to have the fishing day of your life book Captain Kevin. The absolute best part of the day is Kevin doesnt just put you on fish, but he teaches you how to catch them all day. We had the best time today with capt. Kevin. He's super knowledgeable, helpful but also stands back enough to let you feel accomplished in what you caught. We learned so much and I am so glad we spent this investment in our trip and really think it made our trip special and memorable! We were greeted promptly by Capt. Kevin when we arrived at the docks. We quickly proceeded to board the boat, which had a nice storage area for our bags along with flaps to help protect us from the wind. Once aboard we went to our first fishing location where we caught some decent fish, after about an hour we headed over to another spot where we caught a few keepers. We then proceeded to move again to try for sharks, which we did not really care to catch as we previously stated. After an hour of waiting we moved on the catch some snappers since our trip was getting close to being over. Overall it was a fun fishing trip and I understand that catching fish is not guaranteed when you go out but it would have been nice not to waste an hour fishing for something that we had no desire to catch. read more

When I first met Kevin, I was captured by his passion for life and living. I thought, he's got this figured out. That is an understatement. I've been out with a lot of captains, but none who worked like Kevin Johnsen. We were on fish 15 minutes after we left the dock, and the action never stopped. We came home with over 13 pounds of filleted yellowtail, mangrove snapper and yellow jack. He'll be my first call on our next visit. Never did I think that two everyday people from Indiana could catch their dinner, have tons of fish leftover and EACH catch a shark in the Florida Keys. (Check out the Youtube clips- ours is Bull Shark Power Hour) I think my thoughts would have been proven correct if we had gone with a "generic" or "it's popular because there's a big boat with a lot of people going" type of place. Our background- bluegills and bass by use of basic poles using night crawlers, crickets, etc. Kevin coached us through the use his equipment, took care of all licenses, bait, boat prep, driving, music, cleaning the fish we caught, and even baited our hooks with different baits while adjusting to tide to keep us on the fish. He's confident in his locations, but has plenty and if he's not seeing what he wants you'll be on to where you'll eventually put a smile on your face with the amount of fish hitting your line. This guy WILL get you on the fish. We caught our limit and had it all cooked up at a local place he recommended and it was awesome with leftovers for days. Oh, and let's not forget the Lemon shark my wife caught- 80lbs or so and the Bull shark I pulled in at about 100lbs. Overall, great memories we will never forget. This dedicated guy deserves your business and I'd be shocked if you'd find anyone better. You owe it to yourself to spend your money on someone who will come through and also has a good attitude. read more

Capt Kevin is truly a professional and is a great teacher. He not only put us on the fish he also was very patient in instructing my two boys on technique. After an hour and a half we limited out on Mangrove snapper and then moved to another spot. We fished some wrecks and caught some Almaco Jack. After we finished we headed back to the dock and the fish were cleaned and bagged. Kevin is probably the best captain I've fished with and will no doubt use him again.
