They have both a Gem mine and the trout fishing and in the old days had a mini golf course but that is long gone now. The main guy who operates it, Heath, is super nice and helpful. He got us setup and helped my kids learn to cast the poles and get the hook out once the fish were caught. They charge by the pound and the trout are pretty big so plan a big meal ahead. There's a little extra for cleaning the fish but that's worth it. If you are looking for a fun kid activity this is also a kid friendly place as long as they can hold the pole and reel with your help. The poles, bait, and buckets are supplied so you don't have to bring anything with you. They'll pack it in ice for you also when you leave so you'll be able to keep your fresh catch cold. ----TL;DR----- PROS: plenty of parking, friendly folks, usually it's pretty easy to catch a fish, family run, family oriented and kids will likely enjoy it CONS: none, it's lots of fun BOTTOM LINE: if you like fishing and want to spend a fun few hours, check them out. Concerns Regarding Lakeview Marina I'm not sure what is…read moregoing on at Lakeview Marina, but as someone who has had a boat there for the past three years, I have become increasingly concerned about the direction the marina and restaurant are taking. We regularly visit to eat, enjoy the entertainment, and spend time at the marina. Unfortunately, the overall experience seems to be getting worse. At times, we receive excellent service, while on other occasions the service and atmosphere are noticeably inconsistent. I have also witnessed management interactions with employees that I found concerning. On several occasions, I have seen a manager come out and speak to young female employees in what appeared to be a very harsh or confrontational manner. Regardless of the circumstances, I do not believe that type of interaction is appropriate in front of customers and does not present a professional image. On one occasion, a young employee told us that she was being moved from her position to another area because of the GM. She also shared that she was pregnant and felt that she was being treated unfairly. I obviously cannot speak to the circumstances or whether everything she told us was accurate, but hearing an employee express those concerns was troubling. More recently, I overheard a young lady, based on her appearance, seemed potentially too young to be drinking, talking with servers about drinking upstairs with the manager and her friends in his apartment. She stated that she had to sneak out because the manager would not let them leave yet and that she ultimately had to run away. I cannot personally verify the circumstances or the ages of anyone involved, but hearing this be described the situation was concerning and raised questions that I feel management should be aware of. There is also one employee who has been at the marina since we first arrived this summer. From what I have observed, he seems to have a very positive relationship with the staff. He jokes with the servers, appears approachable, and seems to be well-liked by the employees. When he is present, the overall operation often appears to run more smoothly. We did not see him last week, and his absence was noticeable. I am not writing this simply to complain. We have invested in the marina for three years and genuinely want to see Lakeview Marina succeed. We enjoy the location, the entertainment, and being part of the marina community. However, the current situation has reached a point where I feel upper management needs to take a serious look at what is happening. I would appreciate some insight into what is going on behind the scenes and whether there are plans to address the management, staffing, and customer-service issues. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used constructively. We would much rather see Lakeview Marina improve than continue to watch the experience deteriorate.
