We brought home a…read morepuppy 12/31/24 who was later diagnosed with a heart murmur that was found at a well puppy check I took the puppy to. It was a grade 2 heart murmur. I was sent to the Cardiologist with the puppy to confirm . He was nine weeks old 15 pounds . The blood flow should've been 16 and he scored 24 . The doctor told me he could grow out of it. It could stay the same, or it could get worse . And he wanted to see us back in about nine months . And the paperwork from Golden Buddies had nothing about heart murmur mentioned on the paperwork .Matter of fact the paperwork said his testicles were present and they didn't even drop yet . When I called Chelsea at Golden Buddies to inform her she acted like she didn't know she put her husband on the phone. He knew even less . They offered me a replacement puppy. I was too attached and I would never send that that puppy back into that environment. He lived in a barn and on the way home he was throwing up, sawdust .The parents of my puppy were Willow and Barley. They told me one of the parent dogs was checked and one was not . Makes you wonder who would breed dogs without checking them. I demanded they pay for the EKG for the puppy. It was $535 . And they did . I told them I would pay the second one . Which I did . Now here we are at age 14 months. The puppy is 64 pounds. The blood flow should be 16 and he scored 112 . He is on heart medication and is expected to live extremely short life. This condition was not disclosed to us at the time of purchase, despite being something that should have been identified or at least mentioned by a responsible breeder. When I told them about the condition, I also told him that my vet and Cardiologist said I must mention this to the breeders immediately they cannot be breeding these dogs. When I went on their website to get ready to notify Chelsea, I noticed that Willow and Barkley have a current litter. They did not learn their lesson now it's time for them to learn their lesson. I will notify the AKC and post on every social media outlet to keep others from being in the position I am in. Since bringing our puppy home, we've faced significant emotional stress and unexpected veterinary expenses, all while worrying about our dog's quality of life. Breeders have an ethical responsibility to prioritize the health of their animals. And to be transparent with their buyers.

The BEST breeder EVER…read more Something I appreciate but never would have thought of myself is waiting 6 weeks to "pick" our puppy on "puppy picking day." It makes so much more sense to hold off on your decision until the pups develop their personalities instead of solely going off looks. Jennifer is super thorough and maintains constant communication throughout the entire adoption process. She was constantly sending us pictures and updates in our group chat of puppy parents. Before we even thought of the question, Jennifer already had given us the answer! Her constant communication was something that truly made the entire experience as easy and enjoyable as possible. That's is the way it's supposed to be - adopting a puppy should be more fun that it is stressful! I'm from California. Jennifer personally delivered my puppy to me. YES, across the country! She flew with her at no extra cost to me (other than flight costs). She left her home at 3am and got back home at midnight. She had 4 layovers and nearly 24 hours of continuous traveling. Now THAT kind of effort is unheard of. She has so much kindness to give and it truly shows through her breeding program. While there are so many amazing components to Doodles & Doxies program, the true dealbreaker is the training they do BEFORE your puppy comes home. My girl came home 100% crate trained and 95% potty trained. I was expecting long, sleepless nights with an unhappy puppy crying in her crate. Not only am I happy that I didn't have to deal with the headache that comes along with crate training, I am more happy than my dog was never miserable and in distress while in her crate. A puppy coming home 95% potty trained sounds like a fairy tale. I knew that they were beginning potty training before they arrived home, but I did not expect this a perfectly potty trained pup. DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG AT PAWS INN THE WOODS, GRAFTON OHIO…read more My dog died because of the carelessness and complacency of the kennel staff at Paws Inn the Woods. My retired working dog has been boarded periodically at this kennel for years. He was never allowed to have blankets or toys in the kennel for his safety. This past stay, they put not one but multiple blankets in his kennel and admitted to having zero accountability of blankets or toys in general. They do not pay attention to how many blankets they put in and certainly do not pay attention if any become missing. Not even two days after having him home, I noticed he wasn't acting normal. He was trying to vomit and was struggling to poop. We took him to the Vet immediately, where they found he had a serious obstruction in his digestive tract. They performed emergency surgery and removed the material, which ended up being nearly a whole quilted blanket. Tragically, he ended up dying shortly after surgery due to the severity of the surgery's impact on his system. This was a healthy 8 year old GSD living out his retirement after years of service to this country which was tragically cut short due to a completely preventable incident. When I spoke to the owner of the kennel, she told me three things that broke our hearts even more. 1. She insisted this kind of thing has never happened before at her kennel. Which, after many years of working in pet and working dog kennels and professionally handling and training dogs, I know is not true. Dogs eating things is a very common thing in a kennel environment, which is why it is so important that the staff monitor and keep accountability of exactly what is put in each dog's kennel, if anything. 2. She said she had no idea how or when it happened. When I spoke to the kennel staff, they were immediately defensive and straight up told me they put not one, but multiple blankets in the kennel and had no idea one was missing because they don't count them. They said they don't have time for that. 3. The worst thing the owner told me was that she had no intentions of changing the way she ran her kennel and said she wouldn't lie to me and say she would, just to make us feel better. She was unbelievably unempathetic and offered us nothing in the way of an apology or anything. It is also important to note that while I had this conversation with the owner at the kennel just days after the loss of our dog, I witnessed another dog in an outside run tearing apart the stuffed dog bed that was in the kennel with him. When I pointed it out to her, she said "Oh he does that all the time, he doesn't eat it." She did NOTHING to stop the incident as I literally witnessed the dog pull mouthful after mouthful of stuffing out. For the safety and well-being of your beloved dog, I strongly discourage using this facility to board your pet. The owner and two staff members are lazy, and complacent. Keeping track of what goes in each kennel and making sure it comes out should be a priority at every kennel, among other important things that keep the dogs healthy and safe. For my dog, that lack of attention to detail cost him his life. I am speaking out to hopefully save other dogs from the same fate.
