Maybe I'm not carved from the same metal as Texans from East Texas. Despite being an avid swimmer, I haven't yet warmed up to the idea of swimming in a lake where alligators have been sighted. But hey, to each their own! I've swam in the ocean many times. Sharks have been spotted there so maybe this is similar!? Just know that you can potentially knock "swimming with alligators" off of your bucket list by swimming at this lovely beach;). This beach park also includes gravel parking and four, nicely spaced shelters with picnic tables and grills, not a bad place to spend an afternoon or evening;)

It was very clean, well marked and has something for all. It has hiking, history, bridges and tons if photo ops. The person in the office was cheerful and knowledgeable. The memorial to veterans is beautiful. Take s ride and do something different. It does cost bit plenty of discounts if you qualify. January 1st prices will go up. Be careful of the roots on trails. Wear good shoes that support your ankles. Not all the paths are full of roots. Take your time be mindful and be careful. Worth it. It has handicap paths too.

After the horrible floods struck Hill Country just two weeks before my wife and I had a vacation…read morescheduled there, we changed our trip plans and headed to Cedar Creek Lake. We love fishing together so we booked a morning with BigCrappie. We had a great trip with Dakota! Not always easy to find the fish in the middle of the summer but he got us on white bass and crappie. When one spot or technique didn't produce, we'd move on. Not only were we happy with the fishing results, he's a really fun young man and we enjoyed chatting with him over the course of the morning. It was very hot…read moreand not the great time of year to fish for Striper, Bass or Hybrid, but the catfish were biting! Royce and his son (had a group of 4 close to the area we were fishing) know how to attract them! We had a limit of 25 fish in the cooler per person, and we got well over that but let the smaller ones go. So, I have no idea how many we caught! It was awesome and we will definitely look GONE FISHN up again the next time we are on Richland Chambers Reservoir! You can't get a more knowledgeable guide on this lake.

However once we were in the water things went very well and we were blessed with decent weather for a half-day fishing trip for blue and channel catfish. Royce Simmons, our guide took excellent care of myself and good friend. We kept about 31 fish and threw back smaller fish. It was a lot of fun and I highly endorse him and his guiding skills on this third largest body of water in Texas. If I ever get back this way I'll look him up and see if I can't try my luck for White Bass, Crappie and Hybrids. He's been a guide for more than 20 years and has a wealth of knowledge. Fish on!!
