My husband loves going on Friday for oysters and catfish! This evening we were disappointed with the service. We got our salad, and drinks with no silverware and straws! We requested them numerous times and finally our waitress showed up with plastic ware saying they didn't have any silverware available. I am not sure if we were supposed to stare at the food until the dishes were done but it certainly we were not expecting this experience. I'm pleasantly surprised!! This is a hidden gem! Not that fancy and all, but the service was top-notch. The hostess made sure we were satisfied with our seats. The waitress did everything to make sure we were okay with our food and drinks. The food was delicious. We had appetizers, grilled talipia, salad, pento beans, cornvread sticks, french fries, fried catfish filet, corn dogs, grilled cheese, hamburger, poe boy, and some of the best catfish I have eaten. If you are looking for good seafood, fried catfish and oysters in east Texas than this is the place. Fried catfish was really good and the seafood gumbo was also another treat to enjoy. Jalapeño hush puppies are also what I would recommend too. Atmosphere is nice with that New Orleans vibe and feel to it. read more

Well I wanted to like this place because I was looking for some seafood while I'm down in Longview visiting family for a few days. But all I can say was they was a big miss on the "charbroiled" oysters. First off they were $25 for a dozen which seems a little steep for being down there in Texas. And when I think of charbroiled I'm thinking of cheesy, gooey, great flavor cheese and butter just dripping off the oysters with different types of spices. But did I get that....uhhhh naw! I was really disappointed in the lack of flavor and the selection of cheese they had...tasted like store brought already shredded Parmesan. Now I'm use to cheeses like Monterey, pepper jack, hell even American or cheddar. That's so gooey when you try to lift the oyster off the shell the cheese is following you. Not at all with this "fake" cheese they had on it. And the oyster still was basically raw! Uggh! I don't like raw oysters. And the bread they had for what you are supposed to "dip" in all the buttery goodness was some hard ass hotdog bun....smdh Now I ate all of them because I didn't want to waste my money. And how that places looked inside I can tell they probably don't take to kindly of people sending back things. So I made myself gulp them down and I got out of there ASAP! And glad I did because they seemed to almost burn the whole place down because EVERYONE started to cough and sneeze from smoke coming from the back! They do offer wine and beer I didn't partake maybe that would have made the experience better...but i would not recommend this place. Mind was on crawfish they did not have them either. Great clams! You can't find clams in Longview so I was thrilled to see it on the menu. I had that with their coleslaw and hush puppies. The clams were delicious as was the coleslaw. The hush puppies were bland though so next time I'll order the jalapeño hush puppies. I will be back, this place is great! read more

I had the cod, new potatoes, chowder and a salad. Salad and chowder came out first. Both were very good, even though the chowder had celery in it. Kind of odd. This Longview icon dropped off my map for a while. my memories are momma getting fresh shrimp, and to go orders when I was young. Today, to celebrate my last day at wound therapy (rang the bell! iykyk) My husband took me here. Wow! over 50 years, and still NEVER disappoints!! chargrolled oysters were superb! my husband got grilled cod catch of the day and was thoroughly pleased! The BEST fried pickles in East Texas hands down! My catfish melted in my mouth and the stuffed shrimp and crab cakes were both luxurious and light. tartar sauce was exquisite! Gotta work on the cocktail sauce needs more horseradish in my opinion, but what does NOT need work was the service. TEN OUT OF TEN HANDS DOWN BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN EAST TEXAS!! Wow! Not really a good wow. The oysters were good, but that was it.  The crab cake and stuffed shrimp were the worse I have ever had. The batter for the shrimp had no flavor. The service was great, not sure if that guy was a cook or a bus boy just hanging out in an apron, just thought that was werid. read more

Worst meal that I ever had!! If I could give a minus it would be minus 5! Someone has bought and taken over because it's nothing like it used to be. They only had 2 Cajun meals and the red of the menu was fried fish, shrimp and fries. No cajun! I ordered crawfish etouffe and there was NO taste to it. We placed our To Go Order at 5:36 pm on Thursday evening and we're told it would only be a 15-20 minute wait. We had our two granddaughters with us and promised them it would be a quick stop! We arrived before 6:00 pm and my husband went inside to pay and pick up food. Our granddaughters and I stayed in the car for 35 minutes waiting....Finally, I decided to go in to check on my husband, after one hour after we placed our order they gave us our food order. I really like it here I do but I do have to give like 3.5 really. We do eat here I say about once every month or so sometimes it might be more. But I have always gotten the same bucket of fried shrimp and the seafood gumbo. It's all super good the gumbo is my favorite. But it's a hit or miss in the shrimp sometimes it's perfectly fried then another it's a bit dark. And sometimes I believe it feels like they were not cleaned out like you know the poop string is still there on some. Which freaks me out. But I still eat there and like it. I do t go in I always pick up and take home. The only thing I really don't like is the hush puppies they are so plain. I really wish the had the round homemade ones with jalapeños and onions in them. And the price is high but that's just sea food right!? read more

My brother lives in Tyler and found this place several years ago. He told me how great the food was at this restaurant. We decided to drive to Longview on this visit. We arrived approx 2pm. Decor was great but that's where it stops. Brother ordered oyster dinner and I had oyster boat. Waitress asked if I wanted regular hushpuppies or jalepeno. Brother ordered regular hushpuppies and I ordered jalepeno. This should have been first clue. Hushpuppies look like small cheese sticks and not what I expect for hushpuppies. I found no jalepeno in my sticks. Tried oyster which I found overcooked and chewy. Size was very small, some no bigger that tip of wine cork. Overall very disappointing. At least trip wasn't total waste since we also visited the Butcher Shop in Longview and cakes were awesome. Guess we should have read reviews before trying Fisherman Market. Our experience was same as the most recent reviews. If we knew then what we know now would have tried burger at The Butcher Shop. read more

The oyster Rockefeller was on point! But, my daughter had the salmon...it was so over cooked it was gray! She said the seasoning was good, inedible!! They recooked it came back same as first time The manage then tried to tell me "That's how it's cooked, that's how our customers like it" my blood pressure skyrocketed!! The reviews of this place that we have seen do it justice.....but neither of us are regulars here either. So many reviews are negative, so we had to try it. Our visit here before the new year was a good visit and we enjoyed it. JG score of 5/10 for this visit from us (+1.5 for food, +1 for atmosphere, 0 for price, +1 for Diet Dr Pepper, +0.5 for service that day and +1 for we would return) We tried 6 things this visit: Char-Broiled Oysters, Oysters Pontchartrain, Fried Jalapenos Stuffed with Crab Meat, Fried Shrimp En Brochette, Spicy Grilled Shrimp and Grilled Shrimp En Brochette. Our favorite were the Char-Broiled Oysters.....these were good especially with the garnish but not as good as when Johnny Caces cooked them; still, we enjoyed soaking up the leftover juice with the great toasted bread. Our least favorite would have been the Fried Shrimp En Brochette and the Fried Jalapenos Stuffed with Crab Meat. Both of these were actually not bad at all, it's just that the frying overwhelmed any taste that the Shrimp and Bacon or the Jalapenos and Crab Meat had so these tastes had a hard time coming through also. The Spicy Grilled Shrimp was just okay for us with most of the Spicy seeming to come off when we peeled them; the Grilled Shrimp En Brochette was better but not as good as the same item we have had at other places. Last was the Oysters Pontchartrain. A good item but a little too much cheese but that did not stop us from liking it. This item is part oyster, part shrimp and the cheese all on a half shell. The atmosphere in here fits. We like the feel of the place. The price will probably be over $15 for a decent meal. They do have Diet Dr Pepper. The service our visit was very friendly. We had our tea refilled maybe a dozen times. They even served us Fried Shrimp En Brochette instead of Grilled Shrimp en Brochette and just gave us free the Fried while they prepared the Grilled again...a nice touch. Use to be a great place but boy have they got lazy!!! Frozen pre battered shrimp and not even the good kind. The thin cheap stuff on the bottom of the case at Walmart. That anyone can buy. And don't get the shrimp pasta. Dry and rubber shrimp. Disappointing. read more

My husband and I ate here today and are now regretting it. We just left this restaurant. It used to be good with good food and an awesome atmosphere. The crab dip we ordered is made from imitation crab-not real as you would expect from a SEAFOOD restaurant- and it was sitting in a puddle of grease. We ordered the fisherman's platter to share. The shrimp and hush puppies both tasted like frozen prepackaged nastiness from the bottom of a freezer clearance sale at the local grocery store. The crab cakes were good along with the stuffed shrimp. The tea tasted old as if it had been sitting there for a few days. French fries were cold and unappealing. The cole slaw was absolutely tasteless and seriously lacked salt and pepper and basic flavor. Never again will we go back. read more
