If you want to complain about this place because you think it's expensive, don't go so others that appreciate great breakfast food don't have to wait longer. You ll wait 20 minutes or so for this hidden gem of a place, but boy is it worth it...,every minute. Deliciousness on a plate with opportunities for fresh squeezed orange juice!! Pancakes are light and yummy; omelettes stuffed with a variety of things so savory you must finish it although the grilled cinnamon roll already stuffed you. The breakfast potatoes are better than some you get in a gourmet restaurant for dinner. What a find. What a staff. Real people cookin great breakfast. OMG delish. How can a place screw up eggs, bacon, home fries and toast, I have the answer eat here. Burnt scrambled eggs on the outside and raw runny on the inside. Soggy oily tasteless cold home fries. I have to say the rye toast was good. The flies around my table and on the wall where I was sitting were not very appetizing. I watched the waitress cleaning the table next to where we were sitting and it made it very obvious why they have a fly problem. The person cleaning the table was very careful to clean all around the condiments in the center of the table never moving them to clean the table under the salt shaker, pepper shaker, ketchup bottle, and sugar. I can tell you one thing for sure, I just had my last meal here!. PS way over priced!! read more

Consistently good food served efficiently. From time to time, you'll catch a moody waitress (eye rolls, seems like they don't know their job is to deliver orders, etc.), but not a deal breaker. Peach French toast is yummy, and the coffee is decent too. read more

Great location, great omelets, OK service, great pancakes...BUT....the bacon sucks. Horrible, limpy, soggy, tiny thin barely tastes like paper bacon. What's up with that? I'm a big bacon fan, and I can't come here anymore and put up with what they call bacon. I think they nuke it in the back I didn't see any on the grill. If all you do is breakfast, you have to have good bacon. For being on the expensive side, you should improve in this area. Also, they have on their menu: $2 for 1 egg and $3 for 2 eggs. Overly priced for a hole-in-a-wall restaurant. Was told the wait time was 30 minutes. Were seated 60 minutes later. Average food. Our 5 year old had chocolate chip pancakes which were dry and I had to look closely to find the chocolate chips. Two adults meals and a kids meal with drinks-$50. It was our first time in Avalon. I always look forward to eating here. And posted very positive reviews. However, today I was very disappointed my $15.00 omelet was seriously overcooked it was almost burnt on the bottom and way too much cheese. My BIG problem is that my husband and I sat at the counter and I was watching the two guys cook all the food (which I love b/c it says a lot about an establishment when they let customers see the food prep) but what I saw made me nauseous. The younger male cook walked over to where the ice is held and put his drinking cup right into it, I watched him finish his water and than put that same cup in the same ice the waitress was using for my soda. Gross! Next I watched the same cook play on his cell phone for a few seconds and then pick up food to prepare with his bare unwashed hands.. Cell phones have more germs than the bottom of shoes. Very nice place for a great breakfast. Prices are reasonable for the area and you get your money's worth. I got THE BIG ONE and everything was cooked appropriately. The bacon was nice and crisp but not burned. The pancakes were light and fluffy. The coffee was very good. I often have to use some cream to temper the bitterness but not with theirs. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating to the kids in our party and to others in the restaurant. Looking forward to coming back when we next visit The Harbor ! read more

This Fishin' Pier Grille is very popular and very busy. It is also very noisy and not particularly clean. I didn't really like the vibe of the place. It was kind of like being in Connecticut, not in South Jersey, but I guess Avalon is an enclave of the well to do, plastically altered, personally trained types.Everyone was perfect, and perfectly pleased being in their special spot for breakfast. The fly that persistently buzzed about our table was more comfortable there than I was.. I have had many breakfasts in many diners in New Jersey, North and South, and if I haven't been somewhere before I generally order scrambled eggs, toast, homefries and coffee, because if a place can make good scrambled eggs it is an indication they can probably do other things well. Unfortunately the eggs (maybe two, but more like 1.5) managed to be overcooked on the exterior and runny on the interior. Two out of four knives on the table were dirty. The coffee came in dark cups which made the coffee appear stronger than it was (it was very weak.) The homefries were cold, tasteless, and soggy. The waitress (one of the area's child-waitresses in hotpants) seemed in a hurry to turn the table, ("still workin on that?") Okay, three orders of eggs, two orders with meat, three coffees came to thirty seven dollars with the tip. I realize that is chump change to most of the place's patrons, and, if the food was really good it might have been worth it. But it wasn't and left me wondering why so many people love this place. read more

This is the best place for breakfast in Avalon. Amazing omelettes, delicious pancakes and the fresh squeezed orange juice is yummy. The owners and staff are so friendly and pleasant. My kids love the chocolate chip pancakes and the grilled cinnamon buns. It's worth the wait if there is a wait. And you won't need to eat again until dinner time. We love FPG. read more

This is a great little place to get a not so heart-healthy breakfast, but then again it's when you're usually on vacation. They do have some healthy alternatives, but the pancake specials are awesome, and the omelets I've had there were also fantastic. Breakfast in a tourist area can be hit-or-miss. They certainly don't have to be that good to be popular, but this place is. To echo other reviews: the omelettes are delicious and you should get one. I had an heirloom tomato and sausage with sharp provolone and it was so good we went back the next day so I could have it again. We also tried a lump crabmeat omelette and there was more crabmeat than many crab cakes I've had. There's plenty of food, so bring your appetite. The place is small, so go early (we went before 9:00 both days and were seated right away). I will say that the service does make a difference: the first day we went, our server (non-teenager brunette) was awesome and personable. The second day we had a very young blonde (Kendra? Kendal?) who made a minimal effort, didn't tell us the specials, and spent all of her time talking to the cook staff, which was obvious since the entire place is the size of a beach rental living room/kitchen combo.
