I have eaten here since it bought the last owners out. My experience has been rather disappointing. Since I have been stopping by for breakfast I have seen the portions decrease and (seemingly) the prices increase. I have accepted the weak coffee but now all the food is heading down hill. Heck, the best thing they had going for them was the biscuits and gravy plate and the rarely have that available! The service is quick and friendly and all "special requests" try to be honored as long as they are not the specials of the day but even those gave a few exceptions. Their breakfast specials come "with coffee". And their lunch "with soup" Who does that??? I wouldn't say there is ambiance but it is always clean. We stopped at sunnyside café over labor day weekend, and despite a full parking lot, we were seated promptly. Our server came right over to the table, bringing coffee and taking our order within 5 minutes of our arrival. My husband ordered the meatless combo which was eggs, pancakes, & potatoes. She stated "you'll want the peach butter with the pancakes", to which he agreed. It was a nice treat-fresh peach, confectioner's sugar, & butter blended together. I got over easy eggs with toast & potatoes. Our food came to the table quickly, hot and fresh. the pancakes really were the stars, fluffy and soft. As we left, there was a line to get in, so I advise you to go before 11 am. We'll go back again when in the area. read more

When in the Cape May area, Sunnyside Cafe is one of the most stop spots that always delivers a great breakfast. Prior to Sunnyside, it was Clary's which was also great. Happy to know Sunnyside picked up when they left. No matter where you go on a morning in the peak summer season, there will be lines. On a recent Sunday morning visit, there of course will be a line which moved quickly. Upon sitting down, coffee was poured which is always a great start to breakfast. I ordered the Western Omlette (ham, onion and Peppers) and my son ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon. Food came out pretty quick and was hot and tasty. While there were a lot of vacationers such as myself, judging from the servers interactions with certain customers, this place is also where many locals come. One thing that raises that raises the bar from ordinary to extraordinary is the variety of hot sauces that are available to try out. It should also be noted if you like a particular sauce, it also also for sale. My favorite this meal was the mango habenero. If you like the heat, try the Naga Jolokia pepper sauce. Use it sparingly as it has a lot of kick. All in all, Sunnyside is a solid place to grab some breakfast with good food and service. Service was so slow. Ordered Belgian waffles with strawberries with whip cream and no powder sugar. Got the waffle with strawberries but got powder sugar and no whip cream. it was ridiculous, no waitress came around to see how your food was and when I paid the cashier never asked me how everything was. Just ok, nothing special. Staff argue often, may greet you or may not. Not sure how much longer they will be open, as it's listed for sale. Just a divey diner close to the beach, gets a lot of tourists do maybe they don't care. read more

This was a nice cozy little place to eat. Came in for breakfast, had the crab cake Benedict. It was shockingly pretty well seasoned and very delicious. The portion and the pricing were also very generous. There was a waitress going around filling everyone's coffee. To my surprise, there was no charge for the coffee either. Stopped in for breakfast 4/8/23. Ordered Creamed chipped beef. I'm a known foodie who makes SOS often for my family. This rendition looked like it came out of a can- translucent white thinner sauce- poor quality dried beef- limp/ no flavor. I couldn't eat it. Very nicely, (I even whispered so no one else would hear me) I asked the server if I have to pay for something I couldn't eat. She checked with someone in the kitchen and came out and said "I'm sorry you do have to pay for it. We had no other complaints today and Brian the manager is out." She didn't offer me anything in its place. I did eat the home fries which were fine and drank my coffee (meh) . I paid the $13 and tipped her $5. She offered for me to take back the tip I gave her, which I would never ever accept. (the tip back). Left Wildwood to drive home and came across this place on Yelp. Parking along side the building, we were fortunate to find a spot. 17 tables, 7 counter seats. Been coming here a few years with my mother, who lives closeby, and decided to come back three times since they've re-opened under new ownership. I want to support a local mom-and-pop shop because they need the most help to make it. The server was excellent. The cream-chipped beef (me) and grilled corned and Swiss sandwich (Mom) arrived quickly and was excellent. And that has been our regular experience here under the new ownership for all three visits. But, on this visit, for over 20 minutes we got to hear every political thought of the chef. We got to hear every issue he has with the President, and his thoughts mimic the local party line in the community. We couldn't wait to exit. I prefer my dining experience to be separate from the typical political discourse of the country. This man has no situational awareness, as well as no political acumen. My daughter and I met yesterday for lunch. It was our first visit. The atmosphere was nice. Very quaint and homey. The service was great and everyone there was pleasant. I ordered the grilled Turkey and Swiss sandwich. The turkey was carved and it was delicious. My daughter had the chicken salad. She said that it was really tasty. Was on the way to the shore from Philly and decided to go here for lunch over Wawa (right down the road). Best decision we made the whole trip. Lunch was great, I got the Reuben and my partner got mushroom cheesesteak. Both were excellent, mushroom cheesestrak was better than many in Philly. Cashier gave us extra iced tea and extra ice for the road. We then decided to come back on the way back from the shore and got breakfast food. I got pancakes and corned beef hash. Classic pancakes and a really solid corned beef. My partner got sausage biscuit Benedict. Egg was perfectly set. Again really solid. My first review ever on yelp, but I felt compelled to write. I stopped in this am and asked for a table for 2. The waitress told me I had to wait for my friend to arrive, (she was 5 minutes away). As I texted my friend the address, I asked if I could sit at the table and have a cup of coffee and was told no, I had to wait for my friend before they would seat me. I questioned them on this because there were plenty of open tables, the waitress got snarky, said she didn't make the rules, and if I didn't like it, I could talk to the management. If this is the way you greet your guests, I don't think you'll have many in the future. Funny thing is my cousin actually owned and opened this place many years ago and I worked there for several years, we never spoke to customers like this. Went to have breakfast earlier today and ended up leaving because the owner of the Cafe is a narcissistic butthead . I subconsciously took a wawa coffee in with me .Force of habit when getting out of my car. So waitress gets yelled to by another worker that she can't have outside drink in here. I said I am so sorry, I don't want to run it out to the car can I leave it off to the side I promise I will by beverages from you. Another waitress offer to put it under the counter for me to retrieve when I left. My friend and and then proceeded to sit down and the owner starts screaming at me and belittling me .What part of no outside drinks don't you understand over and over until I said to my friend let's go somewhere else. He said fine, leave,Bye. I said there was no cause for your actions and verbal abuse because I didn't argue, berate or attack his employees why they approached me. He than screamed What part of outside beverages don't you understand. So in the end we left and went and had a delicious breakfast at Steve's Cafe on 47 and tipped the waitress there handsomely. BTW No signs anywhere that stated that . Although I totally understand the rule. I feel sorry for his employees because he could care less that he cost them tips not because I had a problem with the rules but because he had a need to belittle someone who was already gladly complying with the staff. read more

In-door dining currently during COVID-19 with 6-foot-spaced seating. Nice country-like environment. Friendly service, great quality food, made fresh and served fast. As soon as we walked in they asked where we would like to sit! This was great! Usually you get seated right next to someone (but socially distanced), we could sit near the window or away. We went for breakfast and there were coffee cups and cream already on the table! The woman who seated us quickly came over with a pot of coffee and our menus! Coffee as soon as you are seated!!!! This is fantastic! They had specials on the board, we didn't even need to look at our menu! Let me tell you, a special of 2 eggs, bacon, home fries and toast, with COFFEE for $5.95!!! Our meal came out 4 minutes after we ordered, it was fresh, hot and delicious! See pictures below! The breakfast for my husband and I came to $12.68!! Can you believe it!? Our new favorite place!!!
