In all the years we've been coming to Sea Isle, this was our first time at Rick's. We were here for breakfast. I would say this is basically a diner with a nice menu selection and reasonable prices compared to other breakfast places in the area. The inside is nothing fancy. Service was generally good throughout our meal. I went with the French Toast with a side of bacon. Bacon was crispy, just the way I like it. The French Toast was your basic French Toast but good. Was seated promptly and restaurant was clean. Went with my two children and ordered water to drink for them which came out with lids, which was nice but initially did not provide straws so we had to ask for that. Ordered chocolate chip pancakes which came out as regular. Also ordered eggs which were ok but could have used more seasoning. Initially was not provided syrup or ketchup and didn't receive these items until several minutes after receiving our meal. Bacon was crispy and hash browns were also good. Overall a decent experience but would most likely choose another breakfast spot next time. read more

Total dive diner. Let me set the scene.. you walk in and there is Fox News blaring on the TV and rows of totally outdated booths lining the place. The service was good and attentive, the food was mediocre at best, although the pancakes were good and reasonably priced. I will end with a funny anecdote of my time at the diner... I was trying to improve the bland taste of my eggs and potatoes by trying to add some salt. Nothing was coming out of the salt shaker on the table so I tried banging it on the table with no luck. Eventually the hostess spotted me doing that and said "hit it against the table harder, dear. That should loosen it up." I was stunned at the fact that she gave me that advice instead of offering a shaker that worked, but I imagine she knew they were all full of old salt that clumped together. read more

Came here on a Saturday expecting to have a long wait. We were a party of 2 and told our wait would be about 15 minutes. We didn't mind sitting inside or outside, but given we were a little sunburnt, asked if we were seated outside if it could be in the shade, if not we'd like to be inside. There were 2 open tables of 2 available outside, to which one of the hostesses, who I'm assuming owned or at least managed the place, said she couldn't move the tables into the shade on the walk way. Very interesting given the tables were literally in the parking lot. Not even 5 minutes later they join the 2 tables and seat a party of 3 and proceed to extend their awning so that everything is under shade. After I had JUST said we would be fine with shade. The younger girl said we needed to be sat next since we were waiting the longest (much past 15 minutes). We then proceeded to see 6 other groups of people be sat before us. The young girl again said that we had been waiting and needed to be sat, to which the woman replied "I'm not seating a group of 2 at a table of 6, they will just have to wait". I knew we should have left right then and there. The young girl apologized to me since we were literally right next to the hostess stand and said she would get us seated as soon as possible. A group on their way out looked over at us and said it was worth the wait. I'd like to know what they ordered to make them think that. I could have gotten better food if I cooked it on the sidewalk myself. I ordered funfetti pancakes that were decent. Tasted like bisquick with some sprinkles if I'm being honest. The bacon was good but came out ice cold. The breakfast potatoes weren't even soft enough to get my fork through and needed a lot more time on the griddle. Don't even get me started on the most pathetic french toast I have ever seen in my life. It looked like a plain piece of toast, and tasted like cardboard. Our server was fine. The place was so humid inside it was hard to sit in there, but the atmosphere was nice and beachy. No clue how this place has ever earned a 5 star review. Best place around the area to eat breakfast! The interior is beautifully designed with a very shore-like ambiance. Everything is super clean inside and all of the workers are extremely kind and accommodating. Their ice coffee is delicious and perfectly made - we even got french vanilla creamers for it! All of our food came out quickly and perfectly. There are not many other breakfast spots near by so this is really a great option for whenever you are in the area. They have many different options and can make changes if needed to any of the platters. The pancakes are delicious and fluffy and my friend said that the french toast was the best she has ever had. Definitely have had multiple good experiences here whenever i visit sea isle and will plan on returning for sure! read more

Went here a little while ago and it was a rainy day during COVID so they only did takeout. I got a Pancake Big One and it was kinda bland and they gave me waffle fries instead of home fries, but since it was takeout I couldn't do anything about it. This was our first time at Ricks, usually we stay in Stone Harbor. This was a pleasant surprise. The decor and restaurant itself is very clean and inviting. The service was also very good. It wasn't very busy but there was only one server. My wife went with the egg white and scrapple. The eggs were just okay, a bit undercooked for her liking. The cheese wasn't melted either. The scrapple was crispy and delicious. I went with the big French toast breakfast. The French toast was very good! Probably the best part of my breakfast. The eggs and homefries were just okay. The sausage wasn't good at all, very cheap stuff and rubbery. I guess when you pay $9.00 I shouldn't have expected much. The coffee was tasty and hot. Overall though it was just okay. This was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. I have been working in customer service for 6 years, and work as a waitress myself, so I understand that the job can be stressful and the servers are human and make mistakes. However, there is a way to handle these mistakes professionally, and the staff here seems to be unaware of basic respect for their paying customers. I brought my younger, teenage cousins in for breakfast this morning. We were sat immediately and the food came out quick. However, we ordered "small" drinks and were charged for larges. Okay, during COVID most places only have one sized disposable cups. Fair enough. But it should have been made clear when we ordered that we would be paying extra (for the tiniest cup of orange juice I've ever seen, might I add). The home fries were almost raw, and one of my cousins had asked for them to be well done, and even hers were barely cooked. Also, the price for a side of home fries (a small portion) was almost $5! Personally they were not cooked enough, nor was it a large enough serving to warrant that price tag. Our bill was about $80, for 6 people that wasn't bad. We handed the waitress $46 cash (two 20s, a 5, and a 1, fanned out enough that she could see all four bills) and asked her to put the remaining ~$30 on a credit card. The waitress handed the hostess the $46 before counting it, and the hostess took the card and cash and returned with a receipt to sign. She charged the card ~$53. We immediately noticed this was wrong. As a waitress myself, I triple checked the receipt and cash prior to handing any form of payment over, to make sure that we had everything laid out how we needed it to be, and that we wouldn't be shorting her. I immediately asked, "excuse me? We were just wondering where the extra $20 is coming from. We gave $46 in cash so the credit card should have been about $30." Very polite, but also very clear that there was a mistake and we needed to fix it. The hostess, who I have since learned from my grandparents (who are locals here) is also the owner, immediately said, "you only gave me $26." She was, short, flippant and her tone had a touch of sourness, that no matter how bad your day may be going should NEVER come across to a customer. I calmly stated that there were two 20s, and four bills total like we had handed to the waitress fanned out so she could see all four. She asked the waitress how much it was, and the waitress says, "I don't know? I didn't count it." The owner then reiterates that we only gave $26. At this point, other tables have noticed the way she is speaking to us, and are giving glances, waiting to see how this will play out. I firmly state, "I gave you $46. I am not giving you an extra $20 because you did not count the money before you put it in the drawer." Of course she rolls her eyes and huff and puffs her way over to the door. She opens the door and yells inside, while she is still standing where all customers can hear her, "I swear I only counted 26." People are staring. We are uncomfortable. She comes back a few minutes later with a new receipt, slaps it on the table and says almost threateningly, "you girls better be right." No "thank you for dining with us," no "have a good one," no "come back again soon!" All we were left with was a very sour taste and horrible experience. My grandparents, again, who are locals here, say they are not at all surprised at Deb's behavior, and that they see her treat "tourists" this way all the time, though she treats locals with dignity and respect. I am saddened that the owner of a restaurant has no clue as to what half decent customer service consists of. Again, service workers are human and mistakes are made. But as the professional, you are to double check your work to cut down on these mistakes, and own up to them when they happen. I will be the first person to tell you that the customer is not always right. In fact, the customer is wrong more often than not, and usually because of a simple miscommunication that can be quickly cleared up. But the saying "the customer is always right" means that you as a service worker should take their concerns seriously, and double check for mistakes. And in the end, if there is not a clear solution or answer, the customer is right. The food was okay, but the owner is disrespectful and rude. This is no way to run a business. We will not be returning. Update: my aunt returned to the restaurant to ask why her children had been treated that way. Deb insisted that it was a simple mistake and that it was handled quickly and without any issues. Either she lied to cover herself, or she genuinely believes her behavior was acceptable customer service. Either way, this new encounter confirms we will not be returning, and that I 100% do not recommend this restaurant if you are vacationing. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Simply loved this place. While vacationing in Avalon we decided to ride our bikes across the bridge and check this place out. It was the perfect length bike ride for us from Avalon and it was also a nice halfway point for our ride. They have all of the typical breakfast foods that yo would expect from a pancake house and everything was delicious and served quickly. I can't wait to go back and try some more things. read more

This is the first time we stayed in Sea Isle. This restaurant was right around the corner from us in the Acme shopping center. The servers were very friendly and quick to take our order, she even offered hot sauce when she brought out our food. I am glad she did because it is very good sauce. (Hank Sauce) It's local you can buy it in a lot of the local stores and at Rick's. Our food was very good and reasonable for the shore. The morning we were leaving we bought the breakfast take out sandwiches. Only $2.99 and very good! Definitely would recommend Rick's. read more

First trip here. Off season visit, so it was pretty empty. The waffle fries are a must. My friends French toast was so-so, and my omelette was great. It seems to be a family run place, as there were children decorating for Christmas and the people sitting at the bar seemed to be monitoring. The owners also seem friendly with a few locals who they referred to by name. I look forward to a trip in the summer. read more

Visited Ricks on a Friday morning around 9:30. 15 minute wait for a table for 3. Seated easily, decor is pretty cute. Simple menu, ordered the Tex Mex omelette in a wrap with homefries. Staff was very friendly and quick but I'd say the food was just eh. I would've grilled the wrap, but the wrap got soggy with the eggs, salsa and sour cream. Solid 3 star breakfast spot. Within walking distance from our friends house, we wound up here on a Sunday morning after a good weekend of beaching and fun in the sun. Very small joint, only a few booths, no chairs/tables...booths only and limited stools at the "bar". Not that great for parties of 6 or more, you'll get split up. Booths were "cozy" with 5 adults and 1 kiddo along for the meal. When we called for approx. wait time, they said no wait time - in the 3 minutes it took us to walk there somehow the wait time became 20-30 minutes and thankfully room inside to wait instead of outside in the heat. We actually didn't wait any longer than say 15 minutes, it gave us time to get to the ATM at the pharmacy attached, since the ATM in house was out of order. Our server was efficient, knew the menu, and our food arrived in a decent amount of time. Standard breakfast items for the group, pancakes with all sorts of toppings, french toast, eggs all sorts of ways, and a whole bunch of breakfast meats. I feel for the price, my bacon omelette was a little on the skimpy side, with bacon bits instead of bacon slices. It seemed like they used 2 eggs to make the omelette instead of the diner standard of the 3 egg omelette. The waffle fries were great instead of home fries - but, it was just a food service item, frozen and fried. I would return and try the pancakes or french toast as those looked great! Note: The booth seats are not comfortable, at all...just a wooden bench style. Obviously not made for comfort, more for getting you in and out as it's a hopping joint. read more

This had to of been the absolute worst breakfast I have experienced. The hostess was extremely rude from the very beginning. We waited a full 45 minutes, watching people who put their name in 5 minutes ago get seated before us the whole time. I went in to ask how much longer the wait would be. In response the hostess demanded "one more minute!!", which turned into 10 more minutes. Once seated, the waitress did not come up to our table for another 10 minutes. The food took about 20 minutes to come out to only be let down that it was completely the wrong food. Then, when receiving the check, I noticed the prices were different than the ones on the menu. A breakfast for two took 2 hours. I will never return to this place after this experience. I don't usually write bad reviews but I have never been so upset after a meal. read more

One of my favorite breakfast spots on the island. For us locals, there is nothing better. I have always been treated great as Deb and the girls are always super nice to me. It can get VERY crowded in here during the summer, so I can understand some of the comments. However, unlike many of the other spots in town, you rarely have to wait very long for your food. You can generally get in and out in 45 minutes or less regardless of the time of the year. I was really surprised to read some of the negative comments about the quality of the food because I have eaten and brought people to eat here dozens and dozens of times and have never heard a complaint. In five years of living on the island, I have yet to have a bad breakfast here. read more
