We rated this a 3.5. I would highly suggest the Scallops! Cooked perfectly and had a great flavor pairing. Service was great! Hosts are pleasant and friendly. Our server was Dallas and he was on point, respectful and friendly as well. The restaurant is spacious with lots of seating. As this was our first time to the area, we will most likely try somewhere else in the future, but wouldn't be opposed to giving this another try.

Good service, nice room, a bit loud with all hard surfaces. Food was ok, but I would not say amazing and a bit expensive. We've had better seafood at lower prices elsewhere in the area. High points: Really good seasoned fries. good, not great burger. Flaky battered fish that was not too heavy and allowed the fish to come thru. Great collard greens. Low points: Clam Chowder was more like clam soup, water based and thin instead of creamy and thick. A chowder is thick and uses cream. This was clam and potato soup, if they called it that I would not have been disappointed. Odd: They serve sweet bread and butter pickles on the burger instead of dill.

First time here and definitely NOT the last time. Started off with the Bang bang shrimp and it was amazing!! And also had a half dozen oysters on the half shell and those were great. Dinner choices we had were stuffed flounder and grilled mahi, both were beyond amazing. Our server was Ryleigh and she was very attentive Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Off-season, new facility, and a bit of a lengthy wait courtesy of a large party entering before us...to the points: 1. Dallas T. Server was exceptional. Multitasking an unforeseen crowd, he handled it by clearly stating he would attend our probable delays with dispatch. 2. The kitchen had to have been crushed. Nevertheless, we were served scallops/risotto/asparagus that was plated masterfully, and tasted better than it looked. I never expected this level of finesse coming out of those doors. (Fishmongers...keep your chef!). 3. 5 stars? In this immediate area, nothing better. And I can't stand hyperbole. 4. Yet another wait-staff-individual deftly handled the overflow needs we had...did not get her name, but most certainly would've noted it. The art of serving well is an unusual gift to find in such a venue. That's why this point number four. Finally, I just uploaded a photo of said scallops. There are two others, (presumably of the same selection) which could've sufficed. I simply documented the likely evolution of different interpretations of this dish. Unexpected in the best of ways.

Any restaurant can have a bad night, and clearly Fishmonger's was struggling when we dined with them during their prix-to-fixe dinner on Valentine's Day. So, when my dining partner suggested we give them another try a week later, I was eager to do so. We were immediately seated near the bar on a slow Thursday evening and were pleasantly greeted by the bartender who was covering tables. After sharing details about the lackluster dinner we had sampled earlier in the week, Dallas, our server, jumped right in and helped guide us through the seafood-centric menu - but first, he showed off a little with a pair of perfectly crafted cocktails, including a boozy Old Fashioned and a tipsy Manhattan, uniquely served on the rocks. We're not big "fried food" fans, and every seafood place has their version of fried calamari, but Dallas convinced us theirs was the best appetizer on the menu - and he was spot-on! The rings and tentacles were lightly dredged in rice flour, perfectly flash fried and offered up with a tangy, tomato-heavy Pomodoro sauce ($12). You've tried the rest, now try the best! Next up were a half dozen Stump Sound oysters ($14) - they were ice cold, nice and brine-y and very fresh tasting, perfectly presented on a salted platter with charred lemon and raw horseradish. Service throughout the meal was attentive, but not hovering. The restaurant's interior is pretty rustic, with light and dark wood paneled walls, some local photography and a large, sparsely stocked bar at the back of the main dining room. Even with only three other tables seated, it seemed very loud. The interior lighting is a bit dim - one large table of seniors nearby was passing a flashlight around so they could read the menu. Our main courses were chosen directly from the menu and included their signature Crab Stuffed Flounder ($26) and Pan Seared Scallops ($32). The flounder was nicely topped with a decent portion of blue crab meat and creamy pan sauce, then served on perfectly cooked risotto - the side of grilled veggies was a bit bland, except for the red onions which were very (very) strong. My date's generous portion of eight large scallops were perfectly(!) seared and arrived over risotto as well. The rose-colored drizzle of butter and red wine reduction was quite attractive, but the flavor was overpowered - once again - by the very strong red onions. The asparagus was grilled perfectly to al dente and offered a nice crunch. All in all, we're very happy we chose to try Fishmonger's a second time, and we will certainly return. A big hat tip to Dallas who was amazingly attentive, informative and patient - great job!

This restaurant by far has been…read morethe most consistent in the quality of the food, which is the best of all the restaurants in the topsail area. It is not fine dining and has the sports bar vibe. It is a relatively small place and I recommend going on non peak hours in season. If you are into oysters, they have a great selection of both local and regional on the half shell. If you prefer cooked, chargrilled or steamed is a good choice. While the menu has a great selection of seafood, the chalkboard specials features extremely fresh local catches which change daily. While there are several restaurants in and around the topsail area this is the only one where I have never been disappointed. If you go at peak hours during the vacation season expect to wait but it is worth it. You can't miss with any of the steamed shellfish offerings and if you prefer fried there batter is light and not overpowering. As a sports bar, they have a large selection of tap and bottled beers and a good mixology of liquor options which is only outdone in my opinion by Rick's in Sneads Ferry

I could've asked the price upfront (and usually do) but what the heck... we're on vacation. The server suggested we get a "double" and share it. OK. Sounds good. It came out quick. There was a TON of food for two of us. Shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn. It didn't have a lot of seasoning also on it, but - no problem - there was a rack with every hot sauce you'd ever need, plus salt, pepper and old bay. We both ate our fill and even left a few potatoes. The bill comes and it's less than $40. It might be the cheapest great meal I've had in a long time. Or maybe it's the "greatest cheap meal" I've had in a long time... I don't know. Bar ambiance, but pleasant enough for families. Mostly high tables. It all seemed very nice.

The steak with Bearnaise sauce was done superbly; the broiled grouper was excellent. We have tried to find good seafood that is not fried - this is the first we have found. The Mac and Cheese with shrimp and crab meat was delicious, although the crab got a little lost. The shrimp and grits had perfectly-cooked shrimp, which you can find around here sometimes, but the grits were less than perfection. The service was good, although the server was filling in for the normal server, who was ill. She let us know she was a little out of practice, but she did fine. The ambiance is, well, not for a first date. Go there for the food with someone you know well, and you will get a first-rate meal for $40 - $50 per person.

The pretty wallpaper gave it a soft feel while dining. We started with some wine, they have a good selection of beer and wines. The glassware is pretty and even the lemon in the water was pretty! We both were excited to try the beef Wellington- something I had never tried before! The flaky crust was light and delicious, the beef inside was cooked to perfection! Inside was mushrooms and risotto. There were veggies on the side, but not enough in my humble opinion. Also, I felt the amount of pastry around the beef was too large. But again, my first time having it, what do I know? The service was excellent and they do offer wine tasting events! Give Fusion Blue a try!
