Terrible communication. Signed up for this camp & never received a confirmation email or any information on what we needed to bring or what the weekly themes were. I thought maybe I missed the email, so I tried calling them to get information and couldn't get through on the phone. My son has complex allergies, and there wasn't a professional system in place to handle those needs and medication. It seemed like they expected us to just show up and let one of the 18 year old staffmembers know in person, hand over his lunch box and epipen, and call it a day. Then the actual camp. My son hated it... thought the activities were boring, that it was basically like school with having to sit and pay attention to mandatory projects that weren't very fun. When he didn't want to participate, no alternative activity was available to him so he just sat in a corner and cried. We were told this at pick up, but no one thought to call us during the day to let us know that our kid was distraught for hours. After 2 or 3 days the site manager called us to let us know that our child wasn't welcome back because he was too difficult, and they "weren't able to accommodate children with additional needs." The difficulty was he refused to participate in science projects he found boring. My child also had no diagnosed or reported additional needs, but they came to that conclusion themselves. I could also hear my child in the background: they actually called us and told us that he was difficult and they suspected he had special needs *in front of him*. My husband obviously rushed to pick him up from that awful place. At pickup she actually yelled at my son to stop wriggling in the chair in front of my husband, and he told sternly told her that he would take care of his child's discipline from that point on. I would never recommend any child be sent to this place. Especially if your child has an ounce of personality and opinions about what they like to do. He is going to a different day came in the area this year (that actually costs less), and the difference has been like night and day. I actually got a phone call from the owner to personally go over his allergies ahead of time---can't describe the relief of feeling that my child is actually with a responsible, caring adult. read more

I actually had no issues with pick up for camp, as Larry, below mentions. It's possible they streamlined things. It's a tough place to do pick up and drop off Middlefield is busy, especially at 9 AM, making it a little chaotic. But, I found them to be overall pretty organized. But sadly my daughter thought the camp wasn't very good. And that's my main parameter for deciding on the success of the camp. If the kid is happy in the summer, then mom is happy. And she wasn't. It was an African Safari theme and I think she expected more from it. It seemed very loosely themed. I had a lot of trouble getting her to go in morning after the first day. She also complained that all the kids in her group were younger than her, which may or may not have been true, but her perception was that she wasn't really with kids her age. That's kind of out of their control as they have to set age ranges for the camps, but she said it felt babyish. She did like water day but she could have had that at other camps too. I specifically signed her up for Safari camp because she is a huge animal lover and we were disappointed. read more

I enrolled my kid to Camp Galileo for 6 sessions. Due to circumstances I had to request a cancellation on May 14th 2018. They charged $125 per session for a refund. This is directly from their website under FAQ Refund/Cancellations "You may cancel your session before April 3 for no charge. You'll receive a full refund, minus a $50 cancellation fee, for any sessions canceled between April 3 and June 2. No refunds will be offered after June 2." That's a big lie. When I referred this to the customer service rep they just brushed me off. This info on your website is FALSE, either remove it or edit it accordingly. read more

My family absolutely loved Camp Galileo at Evergreen! My daughter, who was five last summer, absolutely loved each week's theme, and talked endlessly about all the fun art and science concepts she learned during her four weeks there. We have also enrolled her again for this coming summer, and she is so excited! She loved her counselors, and we loved how personalized they made Camp for her. She felt loved on, and she learned a lot! As a teacher myself, I was thrilled to read each week's detailed lesson plans sent out by email each week, and this gave us wonderful guided discussion questions to have with our daughter. We also enjoyed attending the Friday program where all the campers showed off what they had been working on through the week! read more

Stay away!! They took money more than $1000, cancelled camp due to pandemic never returned money, and now saying no credit for future camps as well. Will never send my kids to that camp again! read more

Picking up children from this camp is a nightmare. Arrived today to find no parking, people illegally parked in no-parking zones, and parents threatening others because they were taking too long to leave spots. Then, trying to locate my daughter was a nightmare since nobody knew for sure where she was, and then once located, trying to find her lunch box was another mess. The folks running this camp have their hearts in the right place, but the organizational skills appear to be seriously lacking. Sorry, my child's well being greatly must come first; we've requested a transfer (not available) and now a refund, and will never return. read more

My child actually attended Camp Galileo in Menlo Park last year, but there's no yelp page for that site, so I'll post here! We LOVED Galileo, and here's why... My son, who was an incoming kindergartener last year, is very inquisitive, creative and energetic. The enthusiasm of the camp staff (who are all thoroughly vetted before being hired) was contagious. I worried that my child would be nervous about going alone to a full-day camp without knowing any of the other kids; on the contrary, he couldn't wait to get up and go to camp every morning, and he had a huge smile on his face every afternoon when I picked him up. Isn't that what "camp" is supposed to be all about? From what I understand, this year Camp Galileo is going to offer before- and after-camp care (until 6 PM) to accommodate working parents. They're also going to offer ChoiceLunch hot lunches (like those in the public schools -- relatively healthy). I think that's one of the things that most impressed me about this camp: They really listen to parents' feedback and seem eager to make changes that will improve campers' and families' experiences. I am surprised by one parent's previous post about poor communication. I felt like the Galileo staff communicated better and more consistently than many teachers! We received a weekly newsletter with a calendar of the week's activities, along with daily notes about the next day's special events. My child loved the theme days and really got into the spirit. He learned about teamwork, and embraced learning while having so much fun. We will definitely sign up again this year -- for both of my kids this summer, and for more weeks! read more

So much fun! The counselors are great and my 2 nephews had a great time here this summer. A lot of science, playing, adventure, art and friendship. I help my sister by picking them up, they are always happy and tired by the end of the day. Great summer camp! read more

My boys begin in September asking me when they get to go back to Camp G. As a teacher I respect how skilled Camp G in the way they design their summer programs. This is not just a run of the mill summer camp, its a let's feed your imagination and respect your intuition summer experience! Camp G gets resepcts kids intellect. This seems like a fine camp if your child is one of the ones that never gets in trouble. It's even great if your child doesn't want to go the first day -- they do a good job swooping everyone in, even the little 5-year-olds. But if you've got a 5-year-old boy, beware. AVOID THIS CAMP if your child has ever gotten in a fight with another kid on a playground. Don't be fooled by all the seemingly great credentials of the camp staff. They don't have the experience to head off fights, and when a problem comes up, they just send everybody home -- in the middle of your workday. If you have an easy kid and a lot of money to spend, this is a fine camp. My daughter, who is one of the easy kids, liked it a lot -- but she liked two other nearby (and less expensive) camps just as well. read more

Both my kids have been going to Galileo in Evergreen for years and they love it! The staff is always friendly and excited to have he kids there. The theme are well thought out and balanced. The kids always have interesting rid-bits about their days and create amazing art and science projects. I have and will continue to recommend Camp Galileo to all my friends. read more

The program is great however staffs may be lack of safety knowledge, especially with younger campers. For parents, safety is always No. 1. Accidents can happen, but properly working things after accidents is also an issue there. From my experience, not good. read more

Our daughter attended CG 2 years (2009 and 2010 in Palo Alto). The first year was pretty good; she and her friend had fun, enjoyed the camp, activities, and counselors. The second year seemed less organized, counselors more into each other (gossip about who was dating whom and who broke up and why came home with the 8 yr olds) than the kids. They also played the camp-counselor-fave 99.7, which is a bit much for the younger kids (and unfortunately now my kid loves - it's OK but in doses). The kicker for me, and why we are not going back: the run-as-fast-as-you-can-and-hold-your-breath game. Not kidding. The kids were to run and hold their breath. When they had to take a breath, they were supposed to stop. Of course my kid is competitive and so ran the whole way and was reportedly beet red at the other side of the (50 yrds?) run. Duh. I don't know, how hard it is to take a little time as a camp counselor and think about the kids first? If you don't want to do that then maybe you should work elsewhere. My 2c. read more

I have no idea why people seem to like this camp so much. It is not a fit for working parents -- the preschool and afterschool is awful, there is not only no lunch but no snacks or drinks, and the activities seem to consist largely of chanting and making halyards and gluing paper cups together. My daughter got a terrible sunburn that lasted two WEEKS because the staff forgot to put her shirt on or sunblock on after waterplay. The communication is poor -- for example, yesterday they simply forgot to tell me that today was "team color" dress-up day, so she arrived in the "wrong" outfit. And the facility itself is crowded into a school with other camps, with the kids in morning/afternoon confined to a small square of cement near some classrooms. To top it off, on Friday, the camp has a celebration for parents at 2:30pm (yes, in the middle of the work day), which basically serves to enforce for the children of working parents that they are not loved. The camp also has this bizarre pickup routine where you *must* have ID, even if the counselor recognizes you as the person who dropped off the kid. It is inexplicable. The directors of the camp seem extremely pleased with themselves, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. read more
