This is hands down the best gym I've ever been a part of. I was initially intimidated and thought it was going to be an influencer spot of glamazon people. It's San Diego so of course there are gorgeous humans but the vibe is welcoming and inclusive and kind. The space is incredible. The trainers are some of the best I've experienced (Georgeanne!) For context: I'm a former dancer and have taught in Bay Area gyms. The team including Erik and Jordan consistently go above and beyond for their members. Mark and the rooftop class crew will hand you your *ss in the best way. All this to say: I know it looks potentially intimidating. I toured FIT Athletic Mission Beach last Friday and had such a great experience thanks to Jared. He was incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the gym. He took the time to walk my friend and I through all of the amenities, explain the membership options clearly, and answer all of our questions without making us feel pressured. What stood out most was how personable and professional he was. You can tell he truly believes in the community and the experience FIT offers. I have to say that of all 3 fit locations, I'd call this one the worst. I generally come here only if there's padres games that will make dealing with east village parking a nightmare, so not too often, but each and every time I come here there's always some issue. Considering I come here sporadically, there's no way these issues are 1 offs. They must be regular issues. And I get this is no equinox or lifetime but most of the issues I will list below are basics that even a basic gym could have figured out. 1. NO HOT WATER... For WEEKS!!! And this is not even the first time. This latest failure to have hot water has gone on for about 2 weeks now. This was an issue another time I came a few weeks ago as well. 2. No water pressure. Came here a few weeks ago and no water pressure. No notification. No signs posted. Just ready to hop in the shower and boom. Nothing. Had to wait 15/20 minutes for water pressure staring at the lockers in a towel. 3. Dirty Towels. Now I have to thoroughly examine every towel I pull. One day I come and I see red spots (you know what that is) on a towel I'm using. Gross. Two days later I come and pull a towel with dark stains. Literally every time I've come, except my last visit, I've pulled a towel with a stain. Not sure if they're overstuffing the washing machine so the towels are not being cleaned properly but I hope a ton of bleach and soap is being used for the stuff I can't see on the towels. 4. The dirtiest floors in the women's locker room of all the locations. Literally hair all over the floor and shower walls no matter what time of day you come. Even in the morning. No matter what, my shower shoes are tracking hair. Especially in the back locker area. All over the bench as well. The cleaning crew could try to at least run the vacuum throughout the day and in the corners. This is never really an issue at east village. 5. SAND in every locker. They are clearly never wiped out because the sand has been there forever. Basically, it's dirty here. Not much else to say about it. The one good thing is I like the separated workout areas here vs a large open room read more

Fit has gone downhill since its opening of Fit Social. It has completely lost the plot and puts its members and the gym second to the insta views fit social generates. I have been a member for 3+ years and the pros have stopped outweighing the cons. Pros: Fits one of the only commercial gyms in PB, has nice equipment, an outdoor turf, and nice amenities (too bad you can't ever use them). Cons: Fit has completely stopped putting their members first. They constantly say they do on social media but machines are broken consistently, amenities are broken or closed every single week, and now to top it all off they are hosting the World Cup watch parties making parking even worse and preventing members from using amenities peacefully for a month. Oh and they didn't even tell us! Not a single text or warning. Just a couple of posters in the locker rooms. It's absolutely ridiculous that I found out my gym was being taken over for a month via instagram. They jacked up prices to pay for fit social but the people paying for it can barely even use it! Not to mention plunge members constantly come into the lockerooms, gyms, and use the amenities just for Fit members. The one time I tried to get a smoothie at Fit Social the employees were talking about the drugs they did all weekend and ignored a line of 10 people for 30 minutes. Very health and wellness focused! Good luck parking at all June-September. I mean it. It's genuinely taken me over an hour. The lots are so packed, drivers are aggressive and dangerous, and no one cares if they hit your car while they park. My car is dented from the lot and you literally can't go after 9am on the weekends unless you're willing to wait 40+ mins for a spot across the bay. At one point they cared about members but the past 1.5 years it's a "you're lucky to be here so deal with it" type attitude. This gym used to be a great spot but Fit Social is their priority at the expense of the actual paying members. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with how this gym handles accessibility and basic human decency toward members with mobility challenges. For a facility that charges a premium, the lack of awareness and assistance from staff is honestly embarrassing. On multiple occasions, I've watched -- and experienced -- situations where six or more employees are standing behind the front desk, clearly seeing a member on crutches struggling to open the front door to enter or leave the gym... and no one moves. No offer to help, no acknowledgment, nothing. Just staff watching while other members feel compelled to step in and help instead. It's even worse when the elevator is out of service. When it's obvious a member physically cannot use the stairs safely, there is still zero proactive assistance, no questions asked, no concern shown, and no attempt to help figure out a safe solution. Again, it takes other gym members stepping up long before an employee does -- which is humiliating for the person who needs help and unacceptable for a business charging this much. This isn't about special treatment. This is about basic accessibility, awareness, and respect. If employees working the front desk aren't trained to recognize when a handicapped or injured member may need assistance -- especially when the gym's own equipment (like the elevator) isn't functioning -- that is a serious failure. For the price of this membership, I expected professionalism, inclusivity, and staff who actually pay attention to the members in front of them. Unfortunately, what I've seen instead is indifference. I hope management takes this seriously, because no one paying this much to work out should feel ignored, embarrassed, or unsafe just trying to enter or leave the building. read more

You don't get what you pay for at all. The bathrooms are clean, and that's about it. The rooms to work out in are small and the gym is always crowded. If you think you are paying a country-club-like fee to rub shoulders with a better class of people to enhance your social/professional networks, you're wrong. Just like any other gym, people at Fit have their earbuds in and keep to themselves. I went in there to take a look around and talked with one of the membership coordinators. He called me the next day to do a soft sell but I had already decided to sign up anyway. I asked him when he would be there to go over the contract. He said the next day at 2:00. I showed up at 2:00 for what I thought was an appointment and the woman at the front desk didn't even know the membership coordinator I was meeting with. She asked the person next to her behind the counter and she told me that it was his day off. Huh??? So, they passed me on to someone else to sign me up, and this person said things that conflicted with some things the original person told me about the club. First red flag. They set me up with an incompetent trainer for my initial fitness consultation. I had minor injuries to work through and it took just a few minutes for me to realize this woman was clueless on the subject of human anatomy. Halfway through the consultation she started to get fidgety. Why? She just remembered that she had double-booked a training client that was overlapping with my appointment with her. So, the second half of my consultation was rushed because this woman was not competent enough to keep her own calendar. Sure, the location is nice because it's right at the beach, but you can barely see the ocean out of the windows in the cardio room because the windows are either fogged up or just not clean. This was a disappointment. Also, there is no dedicated parking lot for this gym, so patrons must share the lot with beachgoers and those spending a fun afternoon at Belmont Park. The only time to get good parking is in the pre-dawn hours. So, this place gets 5 stars for the bathrooms, but it it's not worth even 20% of the membership fee. read more

She made the whole process smooth and easy. This gym has everything you need. Don't waste your time or your money. You'll never be able to find parking. Expensive and there's better gyms (OPG)

For a gym that's marketed as 'luxury' with a hefty monthly fee, I expected this location to be at least spacious and comfortable. Each room with its equipment is small. Once you walk outside of the rooms to enter other rooms. You are met with bleach fumes and suffocating heat air from the pool area. I could barely breathe whenever I step outside to enter other rooms especially on a hot summer day, it is stuffy. It is also loud from all the people and kids in the pool area. Treadmill room windows are dirty left with water spots and bird feces. You have the restaurant in front of you blocking most of the view to the ocean. I think that place doesn't serve its purpose well with the pool in the middle of it all and the structure of the building and rooms. Not a good place for it in my opinion. read more

I absolutely loved this gym and my personal trainer, Ben Franco. Ben helped me completely change my health. He was dedicated, caring and enthusiastic. He continually encouraged me and pushed me to do my best. He was always available for questions and checked on me during the week between our sessions. I went from 27% body fat to 19% in 3 months with his help. I also put on 3 pounds of muscle. I could not have done this without him. Lastly, Ben and I had a blast at all of our session. If you are looking for the most Instagramable gym in San Diego, look no further. Fit in Mission Beach is easily one of the premier gyms in town. Located right next to the boardwalk in Belmont Park, this location is perfect for that outdoor work out. They have an amazing rooftop deck with ocean views, open turf, battles ropes, sleds, etc. The gym is 3 levels with locker room on floor 1 as well as the massive pool (which is also open the to public via a pass). Second level has weights and a room with equipment. Third level has the open turf, a cardio room, and classes. There's something about working out with the ocean breeze and seagulls flying around. I'm surprised more gyms in San Diego don't have a big outdoor space. read more

Absolutely love this gym. I've been a member since April 2021 and initially gravitated towards this location because they were very intentional in sanitizing all the equipment and making sure everything was being wiped down. Additionally the gym was never too crowded and who doesn't love a view of the beach each morning as they workout. It's been almost a year and a half of going to this location and I can't imagine going to any other gym. The manager Eric is really great and you can see this in the way the location is run and maintained! The front desk staff is also so kind and welcoming. Absolutely stunned by this gym. First I like to thank Parker the General manager on assisting me on my day pass via email and to the two gentlemen at the front desk for helping me. From the moment when FIT had to close due to COVID I looked forward to them reopening. Even while the gym was closed I was able to stay up to date with what was the going on regarding reopening from their Instagram. Now that they are back open I cannot express how happy I am to be back! Even with the COVID circumstances FIT has maintained a luxury experience where I can feel comfortable and safe to come in daily for a good workout. absolutely no parking. anywhere. the machines are so squished together. just hope you don't hit your head while trying to rack your machine. the entire place smells like chlorine and every single machine has rust on them. the view is beautiful but that doesn't outweigh the fact that this gym is not a peaceful experience it paints it out to be. the music from fit social is blasting and just makes for a annoying experience. I am canceling my membership this month and heading back to equinox instead. read more
