I understand that the equipment outside is affected by the ocean water and rain, but damn does it suck! Also, I cancelled a class because my cat was sick one morning and asked if they'd waive the fee and they did not I understand they have a cancellation policy, but I expected the fee to be waived due to the circumstances, especially since it was my first class ever cancelled. If your main focus is growing your posterior chain, especially glutes, this is a great gym for you. Their glutes lab RULES and is the best part about this gym. I wish the rest of the gym was as spacious and clean-feeling.

For context: I'm a former dancer and have taught in Bay Area gyms. The team including Erik and Jordan consistently go above and beyond for their members. Mark and the rooftop class crew will hand you your *ss in the best way. All this to say: I know it looks potentially intimidating. I've done Pilates/ Lagree enough to know sort of what I'm doing and I've been to multiple studios. The class and instructor were good, no complaints. I do think the reformers need work, they have torn leather (how can they be properly wiped down?) and some have a half soft/half hard front platform that's seems uneven and unsafe. There's also some that have a hard front platform with a loose pad on top which seems unsafe to stand on as well. I saw a business response to another review about these issues and the response said the reformers are "vintage" to match the beach location and I think that is really weird, they need to be kept in good repair.

There is plenty of retail parking on the first level of the parking garage as well as ample street parking. The studio is clean and has bathrooms, showers, high-end personal care products (lotions, soaps, feminine care products) and offers free towels to use during the workout. The studio is spacious and has treadmills + benches with weights and bands in each space plus extra weights along the wall you can grab for heavier lifting. Another thing I really love about the treads is the ability to do sled pulls and parachute runs...haven't found another studio in SD that has them! The trainers are motivating, the music playlists are curated to really pump you up and the workouts are 50 min - it's effective, efficient and you get a total full body workout and a balance of strength training and cardio w/ the option to double up on weights. I took advantage of the special they had for March for $196/month for unlimited classes (normally $300/month). I have been averaging going 3-4x/week so the value is there and this promotion was a really good deal! Can't wait for my next class!

Admittedly, it's a vibe. However, these concepts have you starting on the tread and switching off to the bench anywhere from 2-3 times. I feel like you do not get the ultimate benefit of either. The weight segment is also super ineffective, incorporating "compound" moves for basically everything with upwards of 5-7 different exercises for a max of MAYBE 2 sets. I get why people love this concept because it's hard to stay motivated with the same boring workout. Plus, these workouts will undoubtedly have you feeling sore, this feedback being what people thrive off of, because sore muscles=growth, right? WRONG, as you absolutely SHOULD NOT feel sore after every single workout. In terms of progress, you will quickly flat line with the lack of consistency due to all the randomness. However, people have different goals and exercise is better than none, I mean, if you can afford it!

I sauntered in there around 1.5 years ago having never done Crossfit before, and they brought me such a long way and improved my fitness. The other crossfiters are equally awesome people of all levels of fitness. A very welcoming bunch, even for a newbie like me. Sadly, I had to move away from my gym.
